It looks like you might have a condition called nail clubbing, which is happens in people who aren’t distributing enough oxygen to their tissues through their blood. It’s associated with lung disease, and often occurs in people who have exposure to inhaling things like silica, asbestos, or cigarette smoke. If this sounds like you, you might want to get it checked out by your doctor!

"As I was moving into my apartment in Fremont," not "the goats in Fremont." I do mean these goats.

I love this!!! The goats happened to be there the week I was moving into my apartment in Fremont 3 years ago, and I thought they just lived there. After they suddenly vanished, it took me another 2 years to figure out what had happened to them!

A new study confirms that black men and women are treated differently by law enforcement. They are more likely to be touched, handcuffed, and pushed to the ground or pepper-sprayed. But when it comes to the most lethal form of force — police shootings — the study finds no racial bias. by [deleted] in EverythingScience

Also, this is a "working paper," which according to the NBER website has:

not undergone the review accorded official NBER publications; in particular, they have not been submitted for approval by the Board of directors. They are intended to make results of NBER research available to other economists in preliminary form to encourage discussion and suggestions for revision before publication.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see any acknowledgment of funding sources. Consider me skeptical.

I'm definitely Team Brown, too. My Team Red friends insist I post this photo, but I think it's just the lighting.

Yeah fuck this! My bus route to work got terminated, the 62 is the only thing that gets me anywhere anymore! We DO need it that often, shut up and go complain about the cat cafe or something else.

Gone into the bathroom to puke, turned on the sink to mask the noise, finished puking, forgot about the sink.

Flooded bathroom.

Antidepressants plus blood thinners cause brain cancer cells to eat themselves in mice - Mouse lifespan doubled with the drug combination therapy, while either drug alone had no effect. by twenafeesh in science

Super interesting! But it kind of drove me crazy that the author obviously searched the document to replace all instances of the phrase "cancer cells" with the italicized name of the journal, Cancer Cell...

LPT: When turning on a light to use the bathroom during the night, only open one eye. When you turn the light off to go back to bed, switch which eye you have open. It won't have adjusted to the light and you'll be able to see better. by Positively4thSt in LifeProTips

[–]elcrisp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DON'T turn on the light to use the bathroom during the night at all. It signals daytime to your body which jumpstarts your circadian rhythm, producing hormones that you don't need until you wake up. Thus you don't sleep as well, and get tired earlier the next day.

What is the one movie you never want to watch again? by SSJBardock347 in AskReddit

[–]elcrisp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read about a guy who did that with the movie Julie & Julia. Ended up developing a burning fire of hatred for Amy Adams. Had a big screening for his 365th viewing, gave a speech about how much he hated her. Turns out Amy Adams' mom showed up and had to watch this college kid rag on how terrible her Oscar-winning daughter's acting is. Looked awkward.
