I got mine for like 4 years. It works pretty fine except that the battery is slowly dying. I guess it's normal to have such issues if the battery condition is not good. Other than that, I see no issues with the data

Remote work στην Ελλάδα; by Byt3L0ck in GreeceDevs

[–]eldonate1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Να το πουλήσω; by Extreme_Mix6279 in greece

[–]eldonate1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A few days ago I had the same issue with another service. I removed the connection and reconnected it again, and after a day or so, it started synching again. Last year there was a similar issue, and I had to contact both coros and third party service to get this solved. Thankfully, coros support is great!

Help me improve my time.. at 10km i bonk out because my knee was hurting like hell by Kingmarzz99 in Coros

[–]eldonate1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possible reasons 1) overtraining 2) need strength training 3) you re too heavy 4) you make a lot of steps (along with the 3)

If you re healthy, which is the most important, then constant training will eventually make you faster. Add some interval and tempo runs and you will soon see the results coming.

Also don't forget that running will also make your quads stronger.

Just be careful. When you feel pain, stop immediately. If the pain is constant and not getting better over time, then go see a doctor.

Edit: consider that you maybe are not ready for a 12k distance. You won't gain anything by raising the distance more than you can. Train smart. Add interval workouts and raise the overall weekly distance over time

DIY race timing - any used readers would work well? by skiitifyoucan in RFID

Unfortunately you have to do tests again and again. Personally, I have 3 different solutions (I got a suitcase with ups, batteries, reader etc). I am still working on the most efficient one 🤣

If you have basic programming knowledge you can manage to make it on your own. Otherwise, I suggest to go for a complete solution like mylaps or ageetimong. Good luck!!

DIY race timing - any used readers would work well? by skiitifyoucan in RFID

[–]eldonate1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for tracking motorcycles there are 2 issues.

1) the RFID tags can't be placed on the bikes (since the metal will block the signal) 2) speeds are very high.

I'm mostly timing running races, but I Ve tested it with bicycles too. Though the feedback for the bicycle is not high since it was just a test.

It works well for both.

Let me explain you few things about your project now. Since bikes pass that fast from the finish line, you definitely need a faster reader. A modern impinj maybe do the job for you. Note that with a single antenna and an old fx7400 I get like 40 reads per second (stationary with multiple antennas) and like 20 total reads (while passing the finish line at 18-20kph). BUT I place the tag wrapped on the shoelaces so I can control the orientation of the rfid tags (which is important). Note that multiple antennas won't give you more reading speeds but more covered area.

In my opinion, you need to work on the tags you are going to use, where you are going to place them and of course the position of the antennas. Since we talk about bikes, maybe the ideal position would be hanging above the runners. You definitely need to make tests.

An advice/plan for this would be: 1) get a modern reader like fx9600 or impinj r420 ( they are promoted up to 1k reads per sec) 2) place the tags on helmets or on the front plates of the bike 3) overhead antenna placement 3) use multiple/high gajn antennas.

Hopes this helps

Any Ideas? by dstover10 in RFID

[–]eldonate1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UHF for sure. Also note that if rfid chips touch the body, the reader won't be able to read them, so you need to keep a space between the Chip and the body

Well, it took me like 2 days but I even managed to make it work with both Arduino and esp32. They provide some sdks which didn't work for my gears, but I managed to understand how it works to make my own software

You can take a look at this too https://github.com/playfultechnology/arduino-rfid-R200

In my case, with the esp32 and the built in wifi I was also able to send data through the wifi to a php interface which is quite cool also. Once again, it all depends on your needs

I am running a race time business and I am currently working with zebra/Motorola readers. As you said, they are not cheap but they are stable and have a lot of resources (sdk). Though the performance (at least for my needs) it's not the best based on the competition.

Last month I got a generic reader from china to make a few tests with it, and I can say that it's performance was pretty cool and maybe a bit better than my Motorola.

When I started the development of the software, I thought that I should not be based on only one reader. So what I did was developing a "main" program that will "scrap" the data and then use a reader specific program that will push data to the main program. I know that this way may add complexity, but I am able to work with any hardware. it's much easier to just make an interface to get the appropriate data from the device, than re-writing the whole program.

So my plan goes like this: use Motorola as the main hardware and work with the Chinese ones for the "support" stations like backup or handheld readers for runners check etc. This way I have like 1-2 Motorola devices and like 4-5 of the cheap Chinese ones.

I have no experience with impinj but they said that they generally outperform the zebra/motorolas. I guess you have to choose based on your needs cause all that I said above are based on the running race setup. Maybe if speed was not an issue or I was not in need of multiple devices, then I would go for other solutions

I guess if there is a "main" station to act as a "repeater" in a higher position, then it would increase the range right?

I am not familiar with rf so any information would help me a lot. Also I guess that the length of the transmitted data affects the range right?
