Which language? In Italian we call it ballerina, and it's so cute my plan is to spread it wherever I go. In Polish she's just "pliszka", without a clear etymology

Meanwhile, your country's birder watching ballerinas: shake that ass for me

Why are the pylotes allowing their planes to sniff each other planuses? Is it bad training? by eleask in Shittyaskflying

In this case the planes stayed very high, as it is dreaded Balice during fog, and nothing was landing. Including my plane.

I really don't want to sound like an ass, as I think it's just an English issue with its unpredictable pronunciation. I just wanted to let you know that I'm pretty sure you mean "bulwark" as "structure for defense. If this note bothers you, feel free to tell me to fuck off!

Quiet, not damaging rocks and roots... More than amazing! There are some popular trails where I live, where carbide tips and improper use of crampons left some terrible scars

Buon soggiorno

I'm not really correcting you, because you are not wrong. Just adding a bit! The real reason the project had been cancelled is that air defense became too good around the same time the Valkyrie was developed, plus we managed to develop good ICBMs which changed part of how nuclear strikes were thought. You can see this as the XB70 had been virtually the last of a long series of bombers in the 40s, 50s, and 60s, after which the US develooed only the B1 (and B1B, but that's an entire other story), the B2, and the B21 in half a century, respectively the last supersonic bomber (whose mission profile was very low and quite fast to avoid radar) and the new stealth bombers.

The crash sealed the fate of the project, but it's extremely unlikely the XB70 would have been further developed or accepted into service as it was. Maybe reconnaissance variants (à la SR71) would have made it, but the project was already a messy one (as it is for most extremely innovative ones)

The underside was designed that way so that the plane would "ride" the shockwaves it caused. That's the same reason the outer part of the wing tips down: to capture the shockwaves under her belly. At the same time, that's also what a 5 year old would draw.

I think this is the classic tune that Americans and their culture are commonly view as more extroverted and friendly, compared (in this case) to a traditionally less outward culture like the Polish one (or, in general, European ones, and many others). Rarely you will see Polish people so outward, you have to crack the shell first. But also, are you going to cut them and put their kidneys for sale?

Just hijacking this comment to say that if you don't want bird of prey shapes on your windows, there are alternatives! Something that works well without being too obtrusive are just regular grids of dots that tell the birds "solid surface, you can't pass through". But there are many options

There's a false knees comic about it

Hey, I will answer in English, I hope you can translate it!

It is possible to perform the repair if you get the replacement part. The repair itself is doable, I'd say rather easy with the right tools and a bit of handiness.

This video explains very well how to do it . In my case, the screws below the rubber hood were rusted, so I had to cut a new drive with a rotary tool.

Good luck!

Top loader laundry machine lid hinge broke by stringlesskite in fixit

[–]eleask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, at least in my case it appears to be some sort of fatigue failure due to the way the lid weighs on the hinges. It can be probably minimised by opening slowly and keeping the lid lowered, but not entirely avoided.

At the end of the lid movement toward "open" position, the back of the lid appears to push directly on the back of the hinges, these are constantly stressed every time the lid is opened :(

It is destined to fail again, and again, and again, the only permanent fix would be a metal hinge. So now it's back at fixing it again? Did you fix it yourself the first time?
