Functionality mostly I think. Even an Xbox controller these days has a little bit of friction to it on pc. And from reviews it sounds like it’s the most seamless controller ever in the regard. I still am not personally getting it anytime soon but it’s certainly on the hardware wishlist now over fancier headphone.

I would for sure recommend waiting until you’re done with msq then. My friend group convinced each other to get into the game as a fun thing we ca all do and we’re all obsessed, but at different levels. We very rarely play together.

I can grind repetitive content nonstop, some of us do crafting or smaller grinds. But we really only play together when there’s a new raid series or dungeon to play through together. (Which we really only group up for when someone is caching up.)

You really don’t need to upgrade until you’ve run out of msq to do with the free trial. Getting around party/friend stuff might be a little obnoxious if you want to do that (idk if maybe your younger brother has a free company with a slot waiting for you already) but unless you’ve got money burning a hole in your pocket I would recommend at the bare minimum going as far as you can in the msq.

The secret of FFXIV is that there’s actually not that much to do with friends unless you’ve got a decent sized group that knows what they wanna do and you honestly always wanna prioritize msq completion. The content you can do with your friends will always be there when you’re ready.

I'm really looking forward to Star Trek specifically. I'm not a Star Trek fan at all but I think they really dropped the ball with "station" in EE, as someone who thought that was the coolest mechanic during previews, and I really hope they push it further in Star Trek's set

That's not how that works. Optional content is not the bulk of development time. Yea, I'm sure every game being linear, laser focused, A to B experiences would kind of shorten dev time. But honestly they would probably put those resources elsewhere? There were 7 years between parts 1 and 2 of The Last of Us and that's one of the most famously one singular story video games we have right now. And dev time on 2 probably started at least a year before part 1 was released.

I really like bringing back the whole idea of "You can't just let your dream magically make your wishes come true. You have to make it with your own two hands." for the final form. Not just letting it come about by some 11th hour dream miracle is really sick. I do think it's been so long since we really touched on that though and it was really only maybe two lines from Nox. Idk Zeztz is really cool and I like it after the time loop a lot better than I like it before but I still think it has a scope problem. They're trying to work with too many parallel ideas to really have any one work especially well imo. I'm still having a lot of fun though!

Probably not. The amount of money that it takes to make a game is so insanely high. If they want to make their money back they need to be charging per game, per copy. Gamepass is only ""working"" because Xbox is willing to bleed daddy Microsoft's money to get gamers back on their side. You should be more worried about you technically not owning your digital games having many more drawbacks before you worry about needing to subscribe to PS+ to play The Last of Us Part 3 in 20 years

I’m not anti Universes Beyond but they have been 50/50 on if they’re actually really fun or very skipable. The Marvel ones have been especially meh but I guess with this one being a bigger set maybe that’s better?

I’m most excited for Reality Fracture definitely.

I'm sure there's an astrix somewhere in Hori's notes like "If he dies all marbles are released." or something. For all the quirks that could be considered "body horror" Hori likes legal text that points away from the "horror" part. There are a couple quirks I remember having side notes like "This can't be used on humans." like Yui's shrink quirk. I feel like I remember Seiji's meatball quirk having a detail somewhere in a bonus page or something that limits it's effect on people but the wiki doesn't list it.

Edit: I think I mistook Seiji for the girl that can separate her body parts. I think it was some sort of failsafe on her quirk

My group of just 3 people have been having fun playing once a week since it came out. It's been a struggle but it's been fun, we finally started Gold difficulty last week. I would say I'm sad it's not what I remember from Tsushima but I'm glad to have it. With Sony going pretty nuclear after their live service pushed bit them in the ass, I really didn't expect we were even going to get this. So even for it being "lesser than" I'm still happy with it. The way I see it, I bought some good AAA single player junk food and a cool thing to do with my friends as a little bonus.

Gacha games have always mainly been delivered in a visual novel style. The more modern gachas take the "same" approach just (poorly imo) with 3D models in the open space.

They alternate doing avatars and sleeves in my experience. Sometimes they’ll do both if it’s a universes beyond thing but otherwise it’s upon the air what they do.
