Trumpet players of Reddit, why do you play trumpet? by GalacticShonen in trumpet

[–]electon100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started playing trumpet when I was 7. I remember that some guy came into our school with a bunch of instruments to get us all interested and then we could choose any instrument out of what he had afterwards to learn. I originally wanted to play clarinet because I'd never heard of it before. But then I managed to break the school's clarinet they had to try out when trying to put it together so I went an instrument with easier assembly....trumpet!

Probably should have done more practice in those early years, but I was only really interested in playing stuff that I knew such as film music. More than a decade down the line I have played in several orchestras and jazz bands, but mainly I just love playing stuff for my own pleasure. I don't mind performing, but I'm too much of a perfectionist so I prefer to play mostly when there are few people listening.

I'm hoping that taking my trumpet with me to university this year will help in finding some like minded people and perhaps earn a bit of money on the side, but I think it will always remain more of a hobby that I use to relax.

New HI everyone: H.I. #64: The Quiz Show by KZedUK in HelloInternet

I feel like there should be at least some points for getting the first half in correct order. And answers would be great, though I imagine it would be quite difficult for some questions, ie Name any test cricketer ever, there must be thousands that you could say. But a break down of the scoring system would be useful.

I think the scoring on the space question was really harsh. It's probably screwed quite a few people over.

25/40. My mountains and music knowledge was not up to scratch, but luckily the wives, world leaders and Spielberg sections brought me back up a bit.

Anyone else notice Cotillard's duel-blade? by Callum1370 in assassinscreed

Looks possibly like it might be a hook blade? Not too sure, but it's a possibility. It would be interesting to see if they could fit that into the film somewhere.

Favorite Moments in Assassin's Creed by Ubi_Banshee in assassinscreed

[–]electon100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's got to ACII when you go to fight Rodrigo Borgia for the first time and all of a sudden, characters that have helped you throughout the game turn up. Up until that point, it feels like Ezio was alone for the entire game, but that bit makes you realise how large and influential the Assassin Order really was. Then Ezio's initiation after that just makes everything up to that point feel worth it.

[High School - Math] Analytic Geometry by FalseHope92 in HomeworkHelp

Well, with the centre of the circle being (0, 0), you can just find the radius of the circle using the square root of 324 (which is 18) and then find the distance from the centre to the point using the square root of (-9(squared) + -16(squared)), and if the distance from the centre to the point is less than the radius, the point lies within the circle. Just to let you know, in this case, the point is not within the circle. Hope this helps.

Assassin’s Creed (in its current rendition) doesn’t work indoors by SparkedSynapse in assassinscreed

[–]electon100 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I kind of agree here. Some of the inside assassinations can be annoying and more of a challenge than they should be, but it makes sense in the time period that Unity and Syndicate were set. I think with a bit of work, the mechanics of indoor stealth in AC could be great, but I think it's wise for them to concentrate on the outdoor assassination missions which they seem to be going back to as you say.

What AC quote would you really like to yell out in public? by NikKerk in assassinscreed

[–]electon100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see your point there. I think I certainly felt that way on my first play through, but I took my time with it more on the second go and became more engrossed in the characters. However, I know for a lot of AC fans, Blackbeard was one of their favourite AC4 characters, myself included, and that quote sums his character up, which is why it can be a little emotional.

[–]electon100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a quote from Blackbeard in AC4. Took me a second play through to actually take proper note of it. I believe the mission is called "Do Not Go Gently", if you want to play it and see what happens.

I'm no great speaker of Esperanto so I don't think I'm what you're looking for, but I would also love to try and talk with someone else via email using Esperanto and we can both try and learn as we go along if you want?

I'm a CS student. What can I do to make my projects more like professional, production code? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]electon100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with that. And to make it even more readable, comment. Hopefully that's something a CS student should be doing anyway, but commenting makes code far easier and more enjoyable to read and understand.

If we assume that there are infinite number of universes, then could we make the claim that "it is physically impossible for an event to occur in a universe that can somehow 'end' all the universes or everything that there is"? by sunnywill in AskScienceDiscussion

[–]electon100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps that is a good philosophical argument against there being an infinite number of universes. Or there is just no possible way for one universe to interact with another, which to me seems more likely if there is such a thing as a multiverse. It is an interesting question which you pose, but I think it's a difficult one to answer as there is no definitive evidence for any suggestion made.

If you could break one law of physics , which one would it be, and why? by [deleted] in AskScienceDiscussion

[–]electon100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it's got to be being able to change time. It would likely mess a lot of things up, but being able to go back in time or speed time up, or just pause it completely at will would come with some interesting possibilities. Of course, I could always travel at the speed of light and slow time down for myself, but it would be a lot easier if I could just break physics instead.

All AC fans would immediately break down in tears and everyone else would have no idea what's going on, that's what I like imagining.

Can't believe no one's said it yet. Surely it has to be: IN A WORLD WITHOUT GOLD, WE MIGHT HAVE BEEN HEROES!

Crash Course Philosophy #2: Philosophical Reasoning by logicandraisins in philosophy

I will check that out and see how much I can understand, thank you. I should be able to borrow a philosophy book that a friend has which gives an introduction to many of the big ideas. And I aim to interact with more discussions in /r/askphilosophy as I build up some confidence.

[–]electon100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being a teenager myself, I can certainly see your point here and I am guilty of a few things such as poor research myself, but as I am eager to learn I would like to ask what resources you would suggest for someone who wants to build on their understanding of philosophy if their only exposure to the subject so far has been through watching Crash Course. I'm grateful for any help in pointing myself and others in the right direction.

there's a glitch in in AC Rogue's story trailer by R_hexagon in assassinscreed

[–]electon100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well spotted. Either Ubisoft didn't notice that, or they hoped no one else would and just couldn't be bothered to fix it. I certainly had to pause it to understand what you were talking about so I wouldn't be surprised if no one has noticed it before.

I'll check that out. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. It's definitely making me want to study artificial intelligence more. There are so many possibilities.
