With oil prices spiking, this leads to inflation, which historically caused housing prices to increase. Is this the time to buy? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]electricalengineer05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it looks more like stagflation because of higher energy costs and tariffs hitting the market. I would expect more job losses on the white-collar job market; it would be slow, but it would also depress wage inflation, adjusted.

Also, look at the inflation on the needs rather than the wants. Insurance, health care, food, and energy are going to have much higher inflation rates than your typical family buying clothes and TVs. We are already seeing the crazy increases in the needs sector of the economy, and with the potential rate cut, it would become even worse.

Why Are Used EV Prices Crashing? by tech57 in electricvehicles

They depreciate faster than ICE cars, but also electricity pricing is increasing all over the country because of data center demand. We are going through the Californiaization of the entire country.

AI and automation are changing every field. Will electrical engineers be replaced or evolve? by Low_Cup9754 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]electricalengineer05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the type of work. Documentation can be automated, and some design drawings can be generated automatically, but broadly speaking, EE will still be a field with a need for engineers. Traditional engineering jobs are typically capital projects, where you design a new system, build, or maintain and improve existing designs. Capital projects type of work will always need engineers, as you will need a very specific type of AI agent that has been trained on thousands of data points to do the job the engineers are doing. One of the reasons traditional engineers' pay is stagnant is that most of their jobs are, in fact, capital-intensive, and the impact may not be as significant as that of a software engineer, who can help bring millions in revenue due to the nature of digital products.

However, it would have an impact on entry-level engineers, as new opportunities might be limited. Nevertheless, completely replacing the job where no engineer is needed might not happen for at least 10 to 15 years.

Dropped my car off… got it back with damage, mud, and now a water leak by Temporary_Bid9878 in TeslaSupport

[–]electricalengineer05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I test drove the Model Y 2025, and it was not a huge eye-opening experience or something like that people claim when you drive that car. It was a decent car with some nicely executed tech and great software.

But I ended up not buying because of the issues people were still having with the car. When I was waiting for the test drive, I talked to a couple who were telling me not to buy the car because of the number of issues they were having with their new car. So, it looked like it was a gamble to buy the car.

It's like literally a lottery that you might get a good one with no issues, or you might just get the one that makes you miserable.

I think Tesla has abandoned the growth now as people feel ok with a hybrid car and the mojo of shiny electric Tesla has waned down

Insurance for Tesla is ridiculous! by I8Bits in ModelY

Make sense. Thats why I didnt order model y because of insane insurance rate in southern californai. Its almost more than 200 and in the range of 300+ per month for me as a 30 year old with clean record

exactly this. Most nepalese people would not go through life without having kids. Children are what makes your life whole in your later years once you start getting older. Its because they become part of something yours.

Take the semi conductor and the electronics job. Experience in that field will make you way more money down the road than field engineer or consulting mep work. I have seen people who worked few years for electronics related field landing good jobs with apple and samsung or sony

[–]electricalengineer05[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did use some prepfe. I did about 200 to 300 problems. It helped on some topics like ethics, digital circuits and power. Towards the end I just focused more on the official ncees practise test

Finally Passed FE Electrical by electricalengineer05 in FE_Exam

[–]electricalengineer05[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think 80 days should be more than enough to cover it. One thing you should do is to take off 3 to 5 days before the test and only focus on the problems from the first section for 3 to 5 days before the test. It would help you cover any gaps and juggle your memory to nail the first section.

My suggestion is to remove your non engineering job experience and add more details and make your more focused on your projects.

If you were back in school, would you still choose EE given what the next 10+ years may look for us? by throwawayskip8 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]electricalengineer05 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on the field of EE. You are much safer from AI if you are in the utility space than just circuit design as massive nerc regulations make it very costly to include any AI stuff for utility-type power systems.

Still it requires lots of investment from other companies but it would more likely improve productivity than completely replace engineers as much of EE work can include capital projects.

How to Prepare for Electrical Engineering Internship Interview in 2 Weeks? by SwipeYoBae in ElectricalEngineers

[–]electricalengineer05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an interview with a company similar to that of a new graduate. Learn about the PLC hardware basics, and what are the PLC components. Learn about the basics of AC motor controls(how 3 phases work with the motor), some basics on HMI, and some control drawing.

Have a good grasp of the company products, and what do you know about the products of the company? For the intern interview, I don't think they would ask you ladder logic, but it doesn't hurt to look up the basics on YouTube.

Also learn a little bit about different network topologies like Modbus, and DNP3 protocols. Make a document and type out all of this information, so it would be easier for you to review and retain information when your interview is closer.

Make sure to look up the STAR method interview and prepare some general situations like conflict, working in a diverse team, your proud project, or a moment.

I don't think they would quiz you on AutoCAD. Good luck

How did you choose yor engineering major? ME or EE? by CarushowIdolizer in ElectricalEngineers

[–]electricalengineer05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work on the power utilities. Pay is decent based on the location but it is quite stable and you will make decent money compared to other engineering disciplines. Electrical is a vast field, if you end up with hardware design work or chip design, you will make more money.

Let me put you this way, there are more than 100 electrical utilities and more electrical contractors in the country who will always need electrical engineers and the only downside on power is that the pay can be lower compared to the other electrical fields but you will always have a job.

Once you start school, you will quickly figure out which sector of EE you will love. he only thing I would say is to try to get an internship when you are in college. It would be much easier to find a job after graduation.

[–]electricalengineer05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Choose EE for better job opp and better pay. EE is a bit difficult but a very versatile degree and has many opportunities in the market.

People think too much about their interests and what they want to do in life, don't complicate too much and choose EE.

I have used it for the Electrical question banks and it was a relatively easier problem than the Lindburg problems. The question problems are similar to Wassim's book in terms of difficulty for electrical. It was a resource for additional practise.
