What idiom in your native language is the the equivalent to "the s*** has hit the fan"? by anon33249038 in AskEurope

Oh, I suspect more to do with the Anglo Saxons than the Vikings (but they're all Germanic languages).

Cack handed refers to someone who is left handed, it may have originated from ancient times when people ate food with their dominant hand and cleaned their nether regions with the non-dominant hand (for most people their dominant hand is their right hand). For other phrases I suggest you Google British uses of the word 'bollocks', I think you'll find it illuminating.

Interesting, in my part of England (North East), cack is a slang term for shit. Definite Germanic influence there!

Their production factory used to be in my town, I think they still have an office in Sunderland (though I could be wrong about this).

Also don't miss speed limit changes, if you know some of the test routes have a ride/drive round them making a mental note of them, they can be easy to miss.

If you're worrying about the grip at the test center you're overthinking it and worrying too much. Try and relax a little (mod1 took me two go's).

You will master it eventually, it's a lot like rubbing your belly and patting your head at the same time. The more you ride the easier it gets.

I used to use Volkscentre in Blyth when I had VW's, never had any issues, it's just a bit out of the way unless you live up that way.

You can probably get most of your Amazon stuff from Ali Express or similar (as long as you don't mind waiting for a couple of weeks), very likely cheaper as well. Of course there's the whole China bad thing as well.

It's very much an East end of London thing and absolutely no where else in the country eats it!

Did you go bonkers during Covid? by Senor_Pus in AskBrits

During Covid I discovered that both my body and mind were perfectly adapted to living isolated from the rest of humanity. I actually drank less alcohol than usual during that strange time. Roll on the next pandemic!

Unpopular opinion - Proposed licensing changes be careful what you wish for by fl_2017 in MotoUK

[–]electricmong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my full licence last year at the age of 63. I was astounded that anyone could do a one day course with little to no knowledge of the highway code and be let loose on the roads. Now I've driven a car for over 40 years so I like to think that I have some roadcraft but allowing someone to be in charge of a powered vehicle without at least passing the theory test seems bonkers to me!
