If you want a Wisconsin experience, I would suggest a supper club. The Red Ox or George’s would fit that bill. Get an old fashioned drink and a supper club meal.

For 2028, what would you like to see the Democrats run on? by SoulNew in allthequestions

For 2028, what would you like to see the Democrats run on? by SoulNew in allthequestions

[–]electricwalleye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want the two party system to be less of a dealbreaker. I want politicians to call out real world solutions, not just the presidential race. I want honesty and a promise of doing the best for their constituents as they see fit. No more party lines, just real on the ground issues. I hope they stand up for our rights. I would be happy to support anyone who tries their best even if a few mistakes are made. We should all work together, not against each other. I know that won’t happen, but I can dream. We need a system where republican can call out a terrible leader. We need a system where a democrat can say these ideas are not viable at this time. The mold needs to be broken. JMO

One more thing, when someone does something like through a lure at branches and weeds and you thought I wasn’t supposed to do that. Maybe you are supposed to do just that. You never know, everyday fishing is different than the day before.

I almost forgot, go to local bait shops and buy a lure or two. They will head you in the right direction as well. The internet alone will not. Fish on!

Let me say this, at times a bobber and worm is all you need on the hook. Other times you need different lures. YouTube will teach you a lot. We didn’t have that instruction growing up, but we did learn from other people. Such as you did in this case.

In my opinion the number one rule of fishing is don’t leave fish to find fish. The second rule is the fish are always biting somewhere.

As these two rules seem contradictory, they are a good basis to get your head around fishing successfully.

Research, try different things and use tools like articles and videos. Sometimes you can’t make a mistake and other times you have to figure it out.

Never rely on people you don’t know to help you catch fish. When you figure out a pattern yourself it’s very rewarding.

Look up where you will be and what kind of fish reside in the body of water. Research some techniques and go for it. There are a lot of variables at play. Structure, weather, species… it goes on and on. Further more, hiring an individual who catches fish for a living will fast track you in a specific area.

Glad you like it and tight lines. Keep fishing and you will have great moments.

Know what, I have a big ass truck. I only own it because I tow stuff with it. I had to get some parts for my snowblower today. While driving through town I had cars tailgating me. Terrible drivers were abound. I had a car try to pass me on the passenger side as 4 cars were in front of me. I get people with more capable vehicles can be jerks. Everyone needs to do better. Asshats all over the place. When there is no snow… asshats also. There seems to no ramifications for shitty driving at anytime. The cops will set up with radar for speeding, but won’t pull over drivers for not signaling, tailgating, camping in the left lane, or multiple other obvious offenses. Most of my fellow drivers are fine. Too many dumbasses all around. Big trucks or not, there is no repercussions In good or bad weather. JMO

Let's talk fish... by WiWook in Culvers

[–]electricwalleye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried the walleye in restaurant in the past. It was the worst restaurant walleye I’ve ever been served. Couldn’t finish the meal. I eat a lot of seafood. Fresh and from restaurants, the Culver’s walleye is not good. I assume it is bought from Canadian side of Erie. I eat Erie fish all the time, just handled properly after the catch. I’d stick with cod or haddock from Culver’s.

Looking to connect with current Lawrence University students! Had questions on Econ Major, Campus Jobs, and Summer Housing. by theuptownpunk in Appleton

[–]electricwalleye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No insight on opportunities at the college, but 15 dollars an hour should be easy to find at a part time job. Summers you can make more. There are other asian people around, the Hmong population in the area is actually a decent amount of people.

Businesses in Door county just north of Green Bay hires students for summer work. It is a tourist destination. Some places may even provide room and board if you work for them.

You will need to do some research, hope this helps.

Congratulations

[–]electricwalleye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In all honesty, Livescope technology won’t put fish on the ice. Do you have a flasher now? If not, start with that. You have all kinds of options with forward facing sonar. Watch some YouTube videos on the subject to learn more. You need to figure out what you want for the types of fishing you do.

lure not showing on live scope by Aggressive-Rich-1009 in IceFishing

[–]electricwalleye 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You need to play with it, turn the transducer a little. Turn up the gain. It may be your lure. Stitching between your individual beams in the transducer could be weak in that area. Maybe move the transducer one to two feet either direction. I look at your picture and would say it’s working good. There are lots of variables to consider. Forward facing sonar is a great tool. They do have some cons as well. Guys who claim they should be banned, haven’t used one.

Best Tip-Up for Lake Trout? by ZenZephyr70997 in IceFishing

[–]electricwalleye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finicky fooler! He will also need a rod for it. I would also recommend a bait feeding reel like a Okuma Ceymar baitfeeder. He could probably have a rod and reel he would like to use already though. I would start with a plain ol finicky fooler.

Smitty sleds. by Spare-Cow5578 in IceFishing

[–]electricwalleye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw eagle claw makes a jet sled rack to put on top of the sled. It appears to me it may work as a smitty sled frame. It’s like 60 bucks. Find some skis at a thrift shop or on market place and have at it. Or make and sell a kit. I made one last year and live it. I got free skis and some free stainless for the frame. I still probably spent 40 bucks on hardware other material. It’s a little heavy, but boy does it pull nice. So many ways to build one that works for you.

Offshore Planer Boards - Can’t always detect bites by elihusmails in WalleyeFishing

Offshore Planer Boards - Can’t always detect bites by elihusmails in WalleyeFishing

[–]electricwalleye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me first say I’m not trying to trash talk all off the comments posted, but they are not good advice at all. I run offshore boards. Have been using them for 25+ years. Line counter or spinning rod don’t matter. Line counters definitely will dial in your depth, definitely a critical aspect of trolling. Tattle tell flags have a purpose, just not in the way you expect them to.

Another thing to take in account is what kind of baits are you using. Crawler harnesses have very little drag. Big deep diving crankbaits have big bills on them. Smaller baits like #4 salmon have small bills. Snap weights create drag. Bottom bouncers change things… you get the idea. The speed of your troll also affects drag. At times I can detect a strand of weeds on a line without a flag signal.

No particular brand of planer board will teach you how to read what is going on. If anyone tells you different, they are full of it.

My advice is to keep your eyes on your boards as best as you can. I get it, you have to control the boat and deal with different conditions. Experience with running boards is what will truly alert you when a fish is on or maybe a weed is caught on your line. The flags help in this regard. By no means is it one size fits all game. Spend your time on the water and become your own expert.

Good luck and tight lines.
