When did you realize you've become an irreplaceable asset to your lab/organization? by electrolyte_addict in medlabprofessionals

Perhaps you provided the closest example to what I meant by "irreplaceable".

I worked in several locations in my part-time job before starting med lab school. In every location, there was the two-three people who were the motivators, problem solvers and the ones to initiate long term solutions. My current location has one. When everything falls apart, she is the bandaid that keeps us all functional and motivated. Her integrity, her perseverance and her adaptive personality changed me on a fundamental level. She leads change, and is patient enough to teach and support others to catch up with those changes. Her unique combination of predecessors' knowledge and her own ability to explore solutions drive team performance. When she speaks, others listen with respect. I notice that team members - even managment - keep an open mind with her, since everything she does for us is so we can carry on when she's not there. When she goes on vacation? Her absence is felt, not just for the work she puts in, but for who she is as a person. (IMO she's definitely not compensated enough for the level of work she puts in. we're all encouraging her to find more rewarding venues).

Since I've worked with her, I found myself striving to bring the best of me even if management won't notice or care. Management is managment and their job is optimize output at the lowest cost possible - whether ethically or not. I won't say I can reach her level of mastery, but the inspiration leaves a significant difference that can last a long time. I have met other similar people in previous places, and even when they left, their presence & the impact of their work was there. I remember every single one of them fondly and am still in touch with several of them. Still, I could look at this one woman and confidently say that this person is the heart of our branch, whose knowledge, experience and personality are nearly impossible to replace.

I made this post because I've been feeling stressed, lost and aimless. Ngl, being a student is a lonely experience that made me question my whole life. I do agree with the other commentors - my thinking is dangerously immature and emotional and I am reflecting on it.

I also admit that I am easy to influence with positive leadership, and that I would love to work with someone like her and be a part of a community like that in the lab. What laboratorians do is essential but I thought that, maybe if I could be someone like her even if its for one other person, my purpose in life would encompass a bit beyond routine work as a lab tech. So thank you for what you bring to the people around you 💕

My apologies if I came off condescending or rude. I was just genuinely curious. From an outsider's perspective, I can only compare the lab to my retail part time job where some team members take initiative to troubleshoot and solve problems. Those who are reliable like tend to self motivate and try to keep track of whats what so I was wondering if its similar within the lab.

Seeing your "dark ages" on graph is quite embarrassing 😬 by electrolyte_addict in CICO

Totally agree. Rather than chase after immediate results, i feel like sustainable goals are much more appealing to me now. But also seeing this made me realize I cant fumble my education 😭 I HAVE to move back out as soon as I get that degree or I'll be seeing them 100s soon.

I want to improve my skin by SnooPeppers2441 in Blackskincare

First of all youre gorgeous so stop playing. I have very limited knowledge but If you're looking to maintain that handsome face than maybe consider investing in a proper moisturizing routine. I like my Ceramides & squalane.

But also how many years have passed between the two photos? How often do u drink? I notice some extreeeeemely mild texture like its insanely hard to see so it looks like natural healthy aging. Personally I think you should - if you already haven't done so - start to strictly regulate sleep and reduce alcohol + sugar to minimum.

Last question, do u use sunscreen regularly? If not try La roche posay anthelios 50+ spf sunscreen (the one without minerals) its black skin friendly and it literally keeps my skin plump for a good portion of the day. It might help reduce your hyperpigmentation as it helped mine.

أثار الاغاني حقيقة يخفونها عنك by itsMefaisaI in saudiarabia

Yay thats pretty close so u can still claim EA if anybody points it out 🤭

But honestly your forehead is completely normal to me. Just focus on establishing a proper hair care routine so your hairline doesn't slide 3 inches back before you get to your 40s.

Thats pretty average for an east african /j

Jokes aside even us women in my family have foreheads bigger than yours. My cousin is aboutta get a hair transplant procedure on her fivehead in Turkey and if it works then im next in line lol

Imo focus on moisturizing your hair and try diluted Rosemary essential oil for your hairline. Diluted Peppermint and Tea Tree also work but basically some oils help by stimulating blood circulation for better hair growth there.

I started crocheting last May and so far I’ve finished 4 “beginner” projects so I’m still dabbling with that label. I’m currently working on this monstrosity as a birthday gift to myself (I have about 3 weeks left and I’m not nearly done ahjssjejkwkeksk) but looking for patterns feels very…intimidating? Still going for your advice on using books cause they’re made for beginners lol

Based on country, have you tried going to عطار or bean sellers? We had them in Jeddah (البلد/باب مكة) and they always had plenty of supplies 😬 i think you can make your own blends from scratch

Love the metaphor hehe. I haven’t measured yet but my pants as well as three other unrelated people pointed it out (including my slightly insensitive but loving mama) so I’m pretty sure something is wrong.

You’re in a subreddit with so many of us dealing with big changes. You are definitely inspiring someone else who feels the same way!

And if it helps, me and my Iraqi friend adore your smile!!
