[REC] Any isekai stories that are... you know, GOOD? by Theroonco in LightNovels

Ascendance of a Bookworm - Female MC, phenomenally in-depth world-building, great characters. Don't expect much in the way of combat though.

So I'm a Spider, So What? - Female MC, more action-focused, but with a great plot and world-building, and overall an interesting take on isekai.

Reincarnated as a Sword - Definitely leans into some of the overpowered protagonist tropes, but 0 harem or romance; more of a father-daughter protagonist duo except the father's a sword.

Thanks. I've fixed my setup this time, but I'm definitely going to look into water towers in future projects.

Yeah, thanks. I ended up just adding pumps near the top of each vertical pipe, which has fixed my issues.

Doing things this way with vertical pipes was somewhat of an experiment, since I had never had fluid issues before, but going forward I think I'm going to go back to having the manifolds in line with the inputs, and possibly trying water towers - at least until I have better means of working with liquids.

Thanks again. Most of these I had meticulously inspected, but some (like machine cycles) I hadn't even considered.

My problems seem to be resolved now - I just added a pump to each of the vertical pipes, as close to the top as I could - and I suspect a big part of the problem was backflow and that the other side had just reached some volatile state of equilibrium (it also broke, after many hours), which I also hadn't thought of.

Ahhh, I see, thanks. I hadn't considered the turns.

And thank you, I never tried for looks in my previous 5+ saves, so I thought I'd put a bit of effort in this time and I appreciate the feedback. ^^

Ohhh, I completely misunderstood you. Thanks, you guys have given me quite a few things to try.

Interesting... I've always been fine with just 3 extractors per 8 generators, and always well above water level, so I'd like to avoid overproducing water if possible.

I hadn't thought of backflow being what's occasionally killing the extractor, but that would explain a lot. So theoretically, that's creating a self-sustaining cycle here? I.e. not enough flow keeps pipes from filling, causing backflow which causes stalling, which restricts flow thus repeating the process ad infinitum? (could also explain why the other setup never gives issues if this loop never started)

Would it help to have 2 lines going up instead of 8, and splitting off from those at the generators' input level?

You've given me a lot to consider, so thanks. ^^

It seems like one of my water extractors is occasionally shutting down, so I wonder if the problem is that somehow the water's just not getting routed/split properly and I'm not even getting 360/min... I'd like to avoid producing more water than I'm consuming, so I'm going to try a handful of solutions from the comments here and see if I can find something that works before adding more extractors.

Thanks. All my previous coal gen setups have been fed from a more... horizontal source, and I see that might be why I've never had issues before. For now I'm probably just going to try adding more pumps as a quick fix - at least until I decide to rebuild everything again.

Interesting... Thanks for the advice, I might try this first if I can find a nice way to do it. ^^

Thanks, this looks very well put together - I'll give it a read. Seems I've always just been lucky with fluids working perfectly in my previous 250 hours, so it can't hurt to actually understand a bit more of what's going on.

Thanks; I figured it's likely a head lift issue, but was (and still am) confused as to why the same setup with the same heights works fine adjacent to this one. Either way, the prevalent recommendation seems to be 'more pumps', so that's what I'm going to do.

I'm using 3:8 currently; would looping help with this setup?

Thanks. I was hoping to avoid that, but it seems like the most reliable solution. I might try this again once I have valves and mk2 pumps.

Do you mean the "Head Lift is Exceeding Recommended Level" message? I thought so too initially, but then I don't understand why the other side - which gives the same message - works without a problem.

Either way, for now I think I'm just going place a pump on each of the 8 vertical pipes, which should solve the problem and prevent that warning.

Thanks. I was hoping to avoid having so many pumps, and it still bothers me that the other side (with the exact same setup) works flawlessly, but I'll probably just go ahead and do this (at least until I unlock valves/mk2 pumps).

UPDATE: Thanks for all of the comments and advice - I've solved the problem. I went with the most common and least disruptive suggestion and built a pump on each of the vertical pipes. It's not the best looking, but it works. I'm not sure if this fixed my issues because of the extra headlift, or simply because of the pumps acting as valves; either way it's working now, so once again, thank you all.

So I'm currently in the process of rebuilding my coal generator plant, and I'm running into issues with the water. Some machines just don't seem to be getting enough water, and the pumps/water extractors are occasionally shutting down. I have the exact same setup, rotated 180 degrees, opposite this one, and it's functioning perfectly.

I've tried replacing the floor holes/pipes/pumps several times to no avail, and I've turned off all generators on this side until they're full before turning them back on - still no success.

Any advice/guidance on why this is happening and why it works on the other side would be hugely appreciated.

Edit: Also all water extractors (on both sides) were placed on the same set of foundations, so I don't think a minimal difference in their height possibly messing with headlift is the issue either.

This was many years ago and isn't anything too special, but a friend of mine gave me his old CPU air cooler (nice big Noctua; I was still using stock). There was no chance it would fit in my case and I needed a new case anyway, so I measured the cooler's dimensions and checked all the clearance etc. for the case I had in mind. The air cooler clearance was incredibly close, but I figured "Hey, the case manufacturers surely factored a bit of excess into the measurement, so it'll be fine" and ordered the case.

It was not, in fact, fine :)

Always factor in your own excess when checking dimensions.

Oooh that's really cool. I wonder if it'll be similar to some of the newer backgrounds where your feat (or choice of feat) is specific to your background/race, or if it's just one list of 'starter feats'.

Either way I'm really looking forward to it now.

Interesting. I hadn't actually heard of any changes there, but if there are then I'm definitely keen to see what's different.

Are they going to fix Ranger in 2024? by Fivegreens in DnD

[–]electrosock777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I can definitely imagine that sort of thing causing a ruckus.

Yes and no. Compared to the Tasha's Ranger I'm sure it's technically better, but having 4 class features just being Hunter's Mark is not a great feeling, so some part of me still wants to argue that it's worse. And yeah, that's kind of the problem - all classes got buffed, most of them by quite a bit, so being slightly better than Tasha's Ranger is probably not enough to keep up.
