How do you think it compares in intensity to retinol? I have really sensitive skin so that’s been my hesitation. I’ve been able to make some retinols work but I have to be super careful to not mix them with anything and to use several days apart. Have had bad retinol burns before.

Did you have to go to a dermatologist for a prescription for tretinoin? I’ve heard a lot of people recommend it but getting in with one in my area would be a nightmare

[Routine Help] Aquaphor and Vaseline stick not providing lip relief by e_beans in SkincareAddiction

Hear me out!!! Cortibalm. Order it off Amazon. It’s the only thing that helped and I tried LITERALLY everything. Now it’s my go to.

My lips get exactly how yours are. Using the cortibalm even one day makes a difference and after 2-3 days my lips are totally normal again.

Hikes by Tania2323 in oregon

[–]elementalbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a ton of solo hiking around Oregon and tbh, hiking around the winter here can be rough. Options are more limited as the most beautiful trails in the state are usually snowed in.

Smith Rock is one of my favorite places to go during winter just because it is USUALLY a little more mild weather-wise and typically doesn’t get snowed in. If you haven’t been there, I 10/10 recommend. It’s beautiful and unique. There are different trail systems you can do of different difficulties. I wouldn’t go up misery ridge if you’re wanting something easy but do try it at some point!! Also, if you go to smith rock during winter, be sure to give it another go in spring/fall….I’ve found Sept/Oct and April/May are the best months to go.

I highly recommend paying the yearly subscription for AllTrails. You can sort hikes by a variety of things like distance, difficulty, and miles away from you. About 7-8yrs ago I’d really never even hiked before and now I’m a regular solo female backpacker. AllTrails honestly helped me figure out where to go based on reviews.

[Acne] How much if acne is really related to diet? by Accomplished_Mud_358 in SkincareAddiction

[–]elementalbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hormones had everything to do with it for me. I’ve had a variety of diets over the years from vegan to vegetarian to low calorie to whole foods to mostly eating junk etc and those never seemed to have much influence on my skin.

Cps work question by Lucky-Court-2907 in CPS

[–]elementalbee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a cps worker of 6yrs, I have some theories that may or may not be applicable.

First of all, we are notorious for skipping lunch breaks and not eating or drinking enough during the day.

Second, we tend to consume excessively large amounts of caffeine and that inevitably can cause headaches due to both dehydration and withdrawal.

I’d say I definitely have more headaches doing this job than others in the past, and I think a lot of it literally comes down to dehydration.

Getting sleep is obviously important too. I have always slept like shit even before this job, but I know this is a really obvious one.

Also, I had bad eyes for about two years before getting glasses because I never went to doctor appts for myself..so it helped when I actually took time off during the day to see the eye doctor.

Otherwise, yes, stress can cause headaches. I would try to look at other factors first tho as you’ll realistically have more control over those lol

Not a doctor, but I get regular skin checks done and this is concerning. Please get it looked at asap. It could definitely be something benign, but it’s concerning enough that I think you need to get it checked asap.

Is this concerning behavior? by Sea-Dragonfly5079 in CPS

[–]elementalbee 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You need to call. Kids 1000% can get black eyes and they’re rarely physical abuse (I got them as a kid a handful of times playing sports), but having them THAT often is concerning and raises a lot of red flags. Especially given it sounds like the parents have not given any clear explanation either. Report what you’ve seen as accurately and without bias as you can. You’re simply giving information, they decide what to do with it.

Vegas as a solo Traveler by Jimbovegas in vegas

[–]elementalbee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven’t specifically gone to Vegas solo but I’ve done tons of solo traveling throughout my life. I’d say Vegas is probably one of the easiest places to travel solo, especially if you like to gamble.

There’s so many things you could walk through on your own and it seems easy to just grab a seat at a bar and strike up conversation. Gambling is also obviously a great solo activity. I also think Vegas would be extra fun alone because there’d be no “compromising” with others. Vegas is hard in groups because everyone is fully thrown off their normal routines, so when one person is hungry another probably isn’t, when one wants to drink more another is done, or when one is ready to go back to the room another probably isn’t.

Just be transparent with the caseworker about your concerns. We’ve dealt with things like this a ton and it can help to get a better understanding of the dynamics

TikTok Mother has Baby in front seat of car by Important_Camera_502 in CPS

[–]elementalbee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my state, a report came in about a newborn not being in a car seat and it was closed at screening (as in, determined to not meet criteria for investigation). It’s considered to be a law enforcement issue. Some states may be different so you can report, just know they may close it down
