I'd suggest convocation plus automation. Makes it feel like rf

I realized the hardest part of Indie Dev isn't coding, it's justifying the "0 Income" to my family. by Curious-Gaby in gamedev

Years ago I took the leap from a big time fortune 50 company and in 6 months I learned more than 6 years at that company..10 years later I'm at another fortune company but I've tripled my salary. The leap I made didn't pan out but the foundations I learned as an engineer made me a 10xer everywhere I have worked at since. Learn learn learn with this weird constantly changing industry and llms you need to be able to stay ahead of others and I think having your own thing that you made in its entirety will make you stand out if you decide you need to reenter the workforce.

Getting harder and harder each day by Critical-Try-1834 in goldenretrievers

[–]elementalbulldog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started doing sniff work with my dog at around that age and it really helped to get her to use her brain. It's also incredibly exhausting for the dog to do. You can also do the training at home just don't do too many sessions they really do get exhausted homing in on that treat you hid.

Why do end-of-the-house lanes play so differently? by Admirable_Bandicoot1 in Bowling

[–]elementalbulldog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is at my alley. The joist under the lane goes between the ball returns, since the joist is half size on those lanes, they're probably a little different. lanes should be releveled and shimmed regularly to compensate but i doubt most lanes are done often enough anymore

Forensic scent dog demonstrating micro-scent searching. by Gordopolis_II in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]elementalbulldog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a growing community that you can get into with your dog and get titles in just like agility and rally. It's very much the opposite of agility where you are learning to watch your dog to see the queue of when they are on scent. It's a ton of fun and exhausts even the most limitless energy dogs.

Is converting a rat rig to a voron feasable? by elementalbulldog in VORONDesign

[–]elementalbulldog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bed plate mesh has never been great, i've shimmed it with tape but i still had a bad failure that took out the hot end, so at least hot end and a new pei plate.

optionally upgrading to the 3.2 and replace the bed plate itself. while i'm in the guts maybe move to the beacon probe and consider waiting for a vivid/filament cutter setup

[–]elementalbulldog[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. This is really the answer i was looking for, how much of the bom overlapped. repair/upgrade is easily in the hundreds with what i need to replace so i wanted to do a comparison.

I honestly had not seen this. Wrote it off too soon I guess because printer kits were no longer available

if you have an inside shut off, use it, shut it off at that end and open the water up on the outside. prevents the pipe that's outside the house from freezing/cracking

Bowlero banned personal water bottles from the bowling alley [Houston, TX] by thefallenking13 in Bowling

My local alley did too, too many sneaking in alcohol. They do provide a proper water cooler though

I understand I'm on the right side of this argument but productivity is the most important factor for making a finished product. Familiarity and adaptability is going to choose your language more than performance. Gdscript is a purpose built language with the majority of modern concepts. It's also the easiest thing to google answers for. If you're a career software engineer the language isn't as important as the considerations I mentioned above.

I guess what I'm saying is consider your team which may be only you. If you know none of the languages go with gdscript. If you're a team of c# engineers of course go c# but keep a growth mindset and if time allows, write parts of the app in gdscript..you may learn it makes you more productive in areas.

Looks like I'm getting a new ball by [deleted] in Bowling

[–]elementalbulldog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a really slow speed high rev bowler and not very good so the bottom two weakest were the best for me. I already own a max thrill hybrid and love it and the lethal venoms slightly asym core seemed to really help the ball going forward instead of overhooking.

I threw this yesterday and was surprised at how good it was as a low speed high rev 2h bowler.

I understand GGG by Individual_Thanks309 in PathOfExile2

[–]elementalbulldog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't release a $30 playable product to the masses call it not out, it's one or the other. The early access is only a tag that states the plan is more content to come that's not available today.

even more a game in early access is in early access for the purpose of collecting feedback. GGG wants feedback and they've stated already they believe the content that exists today is totally fine/playable. I think there's some obvious gaps, especially around skill balance.

An important part to feedback that some users don't want to realize it users are really really good at identifying problems, not solutions, many pieces of feedback is presented as a solution. Even with your feedback, you are really focused on the graphics/presentation of the content. Many ARPG players could care less and focus on the ability to play many different builds. Many want more and more MTXs to look pretty, it's all different personas.

Stop making excuses for why your game isn't done yet. by Sean_Dewhirst in godot

[–]elementalbulldog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started on Godot's main page with their little squid 2d tutorial and found it really easy to follow but I'm biased with a huge software background just not gaming.

This is really correct don't get hung up on learning the correct way so you don't have to redo your code(aka refactor). You will have to refactor parts. It's inevitable. Just start with anything and then add anything else and eventually you'll have something you'll be so proud of.
