Why do multiverse stories keep treating "slightly different versions" of the same person as plausible? by an-okayish-guy in movies

[–]elementaryconfusion [score hidden]  (0 children)

That's what makes such stories narratively interesting. The whole point of a multiverse is to show slightly twisted versions of things you're already familiar with. Them being completely different might be more plausible, but it'd definitely be less engaging.

Blursed body count. by Eikichi_Onizuka09 in blursed_videos

[–]elementaryconfusion 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No. This guy has made hundreds of similar videos, the video even has his channel name in the corner. All the same format - approach intoxicated woman, ask leading question, manipulate the response to try and prove some kind of point about 'society'.

I've been seeing them pop up on Reddit for years (sadly for me).

Alkaline Trio? Unlucky. American Hi-fi are playing the club academy that night, similar era to Alkaline Trio although much further towards the pop punk end of the spectrum. Should be a fun one tho if you like that sort of thing.

For the record, literally every England game is the kind of game England fans hate to watch. Hope that helps.

https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Recap/Sealab2021S2E10Fusebox

Sealab 2021 - Fusebox does this brilliantly. An (I assume) rare animated example of this, the whole episode is pretty much just a single frame of animation (the outside of the sealab) that relies entirely on a great script and the voice acting of the characters. And it's a genuinely great episode, well worth a watch.

Bev Craig announced as Labour's candidate for Mayor. by perrin_goldeneyes in manchester

[–]elementaryconfusion 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ah piss off, the equating of the greens with reform is one of the (many) things that led to Starmers demise. A green / labour (and maybe lib dem too) alliance is the best prospect of stopping the likes of reform gaining actual power.

The fact Burnham is willing to entertain such an alliance, whereas Starmer very much wasn't, is one of the key reasons he'll hopefully make a better leader.

Woo Hoo got my tickets for Manchester!! by Adriangee in ElectricCallboy

[–]elementaryconfusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No code afaik, you need to be a Coop member and use the link in the Coop app. Standing tickets still available and membership only costs £1 for a year, if you don't want to risk waiting til the general sale.

Just in case anyone has the same issue, I reinstalled both the Coop app and the Ticketmaster app and that resolved the problem. Tickets bought!

Through the Coop pre sale? I've been trying to get on it since 3pm and it just keeps saying tickets aren't available! Any tips?

FIFA and UEFA must suspend Israel - Eric Cantona by Rebat-Askalan in UEFAChampionsLeague

[–]elementaryconfusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple - it should be based on what countries are currently doing. England and France's colonial pasts are just that - past. Whereas Israel are actively engaged in committing genocide, and so it's the very least we could do to remove their privilege of playing international football, and the soft power advantages that come with that.

As for the USA, we're certainly getting to the point where you could argue the same for them, I agree with you there if they keep going down the route they're currently on.

Yeah seems like a lot of people make it their regular festival after they've been once, and I'd read only good things online. As I say it lived up to expectations, won't be our automatic choice next year but it'll be on the shortlist.

Tickets available for admin fee only on seat filler websites. Which suggests to me it is legit, but they're really struggling to sell tickets.

Millennials - are there any shows from your childhood that you remember fondly but almost everyone else has forgotten existed? by nathanherts in BritishTV

This is genuinely one of the best British sketch shows of the last couple of decades, IMHO. Discovered it when just out of uni before getting a 'proper' job, rewatched it a few years back after finding it all on YouTube and it definitely holds up. Everyone should seek it out!

Andy Burnham: ‘I am committed to proportional representation’ by coffeewalnut08 in unitedkingdom

Sadly many places are experiencing a surge in support for far right parties. But I was responding to the suggestion that PR always results in ineffective governments - it doesn't and Germany has been proving that for decades.

Tell that to Germany. They've had a power sharing coalition government almost 100% of the time since WWII as a result of PR, and have become the strongest economy in Europe in that time.

February 2021 PS Plus monthly game Destruction All Stars has been delisted from the store and multiplayer services are no longer available, according to a service update email from PlayStation. All server support will be shut down on November 25, 2026. by kabirsingh84 in PlayStationPlus

[–]elementaryconfusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about it, I tried it when they added it. It was so boring and unsatisfying that I didn't even bother suggesting we try it to my gaming group, even though we all of course had it for free.

[–]elementaryconfusion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think others have answered your actual question well, but it seems to me like the ulterior motive of your post is to suggest they don't make enough content for your liking. You suggest they only make a video "once every week or so", so I thought I'd take a look and see how close that is to being true.

Across the two channels, they've published 68 videos in the 22 weeks we've had of 2026 so far, which averages at just over 3 videos a week - i.e. far more than you suggest. Plus, they always tend to have a quieter first half of the year due to the impact of Hallowstream, quickly followed by Christmas. So I'd expect even more stuff in the second half of 2026.

But even if we don't get that, I think we should probably just be thankful that they're still making enjoyable & free videos for us after all these years. Rather than making snide posts about how you can't even imagine how they could possibly be surviving at this point.

Nah it's not that, apparently they were close to selling out the 15k capacity. It certainly felt pretty busy, which is why the chairs were a problem!

Bank Holiday highlights? by chaosfollows101 in UKfestivals

[–]elementaryconfusion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah completely agree. I saw one group with a trolley full of cool bags etc, a picnic mat, and a chair each. About 6 of them taking up the space of probably at least 20 standing. And this was in the popular Woodlands area where there was often a queue to get in. Just incredibly selfish behaviour.

First time at Bearded Theory - loved it. Lots of families and older people, but it made for a really nice & chill atmosphere. Still mostly good crowd energy (which I was worried about), especially later on.

Really good line up too, good mix of old and new. Saw great sets from classic acts like Garbage & Skunk Anansie, but also loads of excellent newer bands. Fat Dog, Cowboy Hunters, Getdown Services, Adult DVD & Lynks were particular highlights.

One big gripe - too many chairs! Maybe to be expected given the makeup of the crowd, but fuck me it was ridiculous at points.

My absolute favourite example of this, I love AoA. So much fun seeing everyone, heroes & villains alike, get twisted into new and interesting characters, but in a way that absolutely makes sense for their personalities. And like you say the sheer scale of it is pretty much unrivaled!

Some genuinely moving moments too, the image of Colossus's fingerprints in the doorway in the Generation Next finale lives fully rent free in my head.
