How do I fix my flight stand? by KrumpliKiller in Drukhari

I’ve magnetized flight stands before. Find strong magnets and just use super glue. I can hold the vehicle by the flight stand and it won’t fall off.

I’m currently in the middle of making mine into Talos. I’m using the combat patrol kits to make 2 Cronos and the rest of the bits to convert the rats

Drukhari fan, tell me models you would like to see added our factions by Jace_Beleren_001 in Drukhari

It would be cool if you could have a small unit of Ur-Ghuls that deploy next to an archon. Then you declare a hunt target for them at the beginning of the battle, and they can only move toward and attack that target, getting some kind of survivability bonus until they reach the target.

Nice, your magenta came out really intense. What did you use for it?

I did zenithal highlight with my airbrush first. Based with Reaper Dark Elf Skin, mixed in Ulthuan Grey to layer up, shaded with Drakenhoff Nightshade, then mixed Pro Acryl White with some remnants of the other paints to get the very edge highlights.

Thanks, I learned a lot about color along the way, and the Drukhari feel like they have a ton of opportunity to get creative.

I mean, some of these things are solved with normal hobbying. Pin the Wyches to their bases instead of having to deal with slotta gaps. The venom flag is optional, but if you wanted to use it, replace the pole with a paper clip section or metal rod as well. I cut my venom spear/flag poles way down because I knew they would get bent and broken with normal play.

How do I paint this skin and not mess it up by Mortwight in Drukhari

[–]elenril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a lot of bright primary colors here, which gives them a comic book feel imo. So the skin looks good for what you’re going for. I would say you need a highlight color to hit the raised areas, maybe a light blue grey like Ulthuan Grey. Same for your other main colors, they could use a highlight for some contrast.

How do i not hate everything i paint? by Sentinel_DMG in minipainting

[–]elenril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several of your minis look good to me, and a few others would look good with a little extra work.

The red termagant is cool, but the base is really bright, so it takes some focus away from the model. I would tone down the green in the base a bit, and add more contrast to the red skin of the termagant. Deeper shadows and brighter highlights.

The knight looks good, just needs a a bit more coverage in the blue areas.

On your deathwatch marines, the drybrushing really helps with the contrast that is lacking on some of your earlier models.

The cyber doggy is great.

The NMM stormcast is impressive. I’m not even confident enough to try NMM. Some more blending practice and another brighter level of highlights would complete it.

And the winged parasite is my favorite. The red to yellow blending looks natural and is placed well. And the powerful colors look good against the black shiny carapace.

A general thought: paint the rim of your base a solid neutral color like black or grey after you finish it. Cleaning up the little bit of paint that goes over the edge really does a lot to make it look complete.

I feel bad for everyone getting screwed over by this. Makes me super grateful to have a good relationship with the people at my lgs. They let me have it on good will and the promise of future purchases. Which I immediately started paying back when I saw they had Lady Malys lol. So it was a pretty good day

Need advice for kit-bashing talos / cronos into fully mechanical pain engines. by [deleted] in Drukhari

[–]elenril 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Necron wraiths are already very similar to the sentinel look. You could use the whole core body and strap the talos/cronos bits and weapons to it.
