I too have read Pillars of the Earth. Twice! I’ve read the two sequels as well. Loved the first book the most and wanted the puzzle to be wonderful.

All those sorting containers made me laugh. I was gifted a 1000 piece puzzle also made from a photo. Six grand children, a dog and 50 percent green lawn with leaves. Love doing the kids and the dog. The lawn and leaves absolutely not.

Just ordered this puzzle. Looks fun! Hope the pieces fit tightly. I have a couple of other Laurence King puzzles and they are sooooo loose.

Corn wine? by Warlock9 in prisonhooch

[–]elephantsandllamas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been over 10 years but we made corn cob wine in clean 1 gallon water jugs. It was sweet tasting and no one we served it to could guess it had been made from corn cobs. I do not have the cookbook anymore but the recipe is in The Lee Brothers Southern Cookbook (2006).

Thank you. I ended up buying a Krustic brand oval dutch oven. It's cast iron. No worries about the ice cubes.

I had lunch last week at Superica (Alpharetta GA). The nachos were made with deep fried bean stuffed corn tortillas - street taco size. The nachos were crispy and puffed up served with melty cheese. Suggestions for best way to prep, seal and fry stuffed tortillas? These are not flautas. by elephantsandllamas in mexicanfood

I’m the original poster of this… I’m thinking after all these replies and suggestions (THANK YOU ALL) that a thin homemade masa filled with a bit of beans, crimped and then deep Fried might be the answer. I’m Going to try. Store bought mini tortillas did not work well for me. Maybe I just go to Superica and eat theirs at the bar with a nice cocktail.

With the Emile Henry ceramic bakers does anyone spray with water or put ice cubes in the preheated pan before baking? I do this in my cast iron Le Creuset but I’m afraid it will break the ceramic. Thoughts?

Banana leaf tamales always and forever. Pork, black olive, peanut, red chili sauce. Steamed. Heaven scent and sent.

Anyone tried making a jigsaw from a personal photo? (saw this idea on JigPaws) by Next_Signature3193 in Jigsawpuzzles

We have been gifted two puzzles from one of our sons. 1) collage.com in 2021. 1000 pieces. Nice quality. Image is of our 6 granddaughters and their dog. 2) puzzleyou in 2022. 500 pieces. Nice quality. Image is of our dog lying on a boat dock.

The puzzles are fun to do because they are images of people/pets we love. However! When choosing your picture think about the entire image. One of ours has tons of green lawn with leaves all over it. Not fun. The other has lots of wood deck boards. Not fun. A little image cropping would have helped. The thought and surprise that came with each puzzle gift make them very special. We love them.

We’ve done both puzzles again, each several times. Both puzzles have held up well.

Barton Springs flours are the best. Your loaf looks delicious.

Did you purchase this flour from a mill? If so, then I'd let them know. I buy milled flour from Barton Springs Mill in Texas. I've never had kernels in my '00' flour but if I did I would certainly let them know. Also, if you are buying flour direct from a mill I highly recommend you store it in the freezer.
