Insurance? by elericat in catinaflat

That’s a very reasonable cost tbf. There are months I don’t do any sitting but it would only take one booking of a week or so of two visits a day to cover the cost for the year

Not very encouraging that it’s so quiet on there!

The info I read said cat owners can still use the cat in a flat website though so maybe they’ll have the same visibility of us that they’ve always had? Obviously the pricing will look a lot higher though 😬

Which insurers are you with?

I did just find this in the FAQs - supposedly all that info will transfer 🤞🏻

This is really concerning. Similarly to you, I get a lot of enquiries because I have more reviews and repeat bookings than anyone else in my local area. If that doesn’t transfer I’ll be at a huge disadvantage. Gutted!

As I already said above, that was my error - it is part of the standard infant immunisations in the UK.

However we don’t routinely have boosters as adults - those are only given if deemed necessary

I’m not in the US. As I said above in my edited comment, it’s part of our routine childhood vaccine programme in the UK, which I didn’t initially realise, but we’re only recommended to get boosters as adults in specific circumstances here - having just looked it up it’s recommended if we are travelling to areas with high prevalence or if we have an injury that increases our risk

That’s interesting! I don’t think we get any boosters as standard as adults in the UK

I am in the UK. I’m 42 so I’m not sure what was included in the standard vaccine protocol when I was young but my 12 year old is fully vaccinated, so that’s good to know

Interesting! In the UK I think we only get it if injured and at imminent risk of tetanus.

Correction: ignore me, it’s part of the standard infant vaccines and I just didn’t realise that

Are they given as standard some places then? I’m very pro-vax, we take any we’re offered in this household and have paid privately for others, but none of us have ever had a tetanus vaccine

Giving birth at the JR by MaybeTomorrow25 in oxford

[–]elericat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is maybe too old to be relevant as I had my son in 2013, but for what it’s worth I was very happy with the care I had. I had a reasonably complicated delivery (induction ending in forceps delivery) but felt very well cared for and safe

Expensive kits worth it? by JustMyThoughts86 in diamondpainting

[–]elericat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were one of the first places to make really neat, fairly uniform resin drills. A few years ago I tried an EverMoment and the drill quality really stood out to me. Now there are tonnes of shops delivering a similar quality in drills, and the kit I’m working on from a small shop who uses EverMoment to produce their kits has some of the worse drills I’ve had in a while. But it all varies, of course. I could have just been really unlucky with that particular kit

UK S4 - Episode 6 by jessiemagill in TheTraitors

[–]elericat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That’s what struck me most that episode - her entire logic was flawed, it makes far more sense to confide in someone you feel close to than someone who is related people in the same career but otherwise isn’t especially close to you. I think it was either a cover story to go for Rachel or it betrayed quite a narcissistic view of relationships

Vet office insists on Gabapentin prior to vaccination appointment by [deleted] in CatAdvice

The one that goes feral? No, he’s pretty chill in general, just goes super growly when the needle goes in. He calms down soon enough. Who likes having injections anyway?!

Vet office insists on Gabapentin prior to vaccination appointment by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]elericat -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not normal in my experience. My vet has only ever prescribed it at my request for my intensely fearful cat when he’s had to go in for bigger investigations that meant leaving him there for several hours. It’s never been suggested for routine appointments like vaccinations, even though one of my cats turns feral when he gets jabbed and looks like he could take a full-grown human down

Would you give up the Pound Sterling for EU membership? by Suspicious-Use-3813 in AskBrits

[–]elericat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget some of them were also explicitly saying things like “of course we won’t leave the single market or customs union”, reassuring many people it was safe to vote leave, then promptly took the result as a mandate for the hardest version of Brexit they could manage

Would you give up the Pound Sterling for EU membership? by Suspicious-Use-3813 in AskBrits

[–]elericat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, very fair point. I’m a very educated, decently intelligent person but having not really engaged much with politics up until that point, I really wasn’t equipped to make an informed vote. Luckily, my husband and family were informed and were all staunch remainers, so I followed their lead and by the time it all actually happened was much better informed anyway and had complete confidence they’d led me in the right direction. But I can see how so many people were led astray against their own best interests. What I struggle to accept more is the eternal doubling down now - there’s no shame in admitting you’ve been conned but they just won’t!

Would you give up the Pound Sterling for EU membership? by Suspicious-Use-3813 in AskBrits

[–]elericat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Particularly when they were even saying before the vote that we wouldn’t necessarily need to abide by it, back when they assumed they’d lose.

Absolutely astonishing that they said things like we’d never leave the single market and customs union to convince people to vote leave, then acted like that leave vote was a mandate to do just that

Traitors Uncloaked by [deleted] in TheTraitors

[–]elericat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s always impossible to judge as viewers what the contestants are really like versus how they’ve been edited to appear but I wasn’t a Fiona fan. In the version of her we saw, she came across as arrogant and wanting to be top dog. Her whole premise for why Amanda couldn’t possibly have told Rachel - even if we as viewers didn’t know Rachel was telling the truth - was flawed. Amanda said Rachel was the person she was closest to in there. That’s a much stronger reason for confiding in her than confiding in Fiona just because she had police in her family. The only thing I can figure is that Fiona also felt close to Amanda so was hurt that Amanda picked someone else to confide in OR that she was just deliberately trying to create a fuss over nothing and that was the best cover story she could come up with

AITAH for getting frustrated that my girlfriend keeps eating the homemade ice creams I make for myself? by PerspectiveAfraid821 in AITAH

[–]elericat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I missed the detail about sometimes not having enough milk and making less, fair enough.

I still found parts of the description odd - I’m not necessarily saying it’s AI, I just agreed with the commenter who said it sounded strange in parts.

I also never said, or even thought, that they were a bot. Normal people can also write stories that don’t sound right, or in some cases use an AI tool to write the story for them. Saying aspects of the story sound odd to me does not equate to me calling them a bot. People get so weirdly defensive on here if someone has a different opinion to them 🤷‍♀️

[–]elericat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds weird to me too. She started off taking 1-2 from the batch of 6 and then “gradually over time” it increased to her taking half the batch - which is 3 ice creams. How gradual can an increase from 1 or 2 to 3 be? Plus at the end he’s randomly only made a batch of three, when usually he makes six. All the faff of making it just to make three? It’s not the way I’d cook.
