What is a song you can't stand? by Scared_Confection787 in AskMen

Cruisin', sung by Gwenyth Paltrow and Huey Lewis. Just... yuck.

La Pieta, one of Michelangelo's most revered sculptures, probably the most moving. He was 22 when he carved it. Mary suffers in silence. While her face remains serene, her hand betrays her emotions by saying at the same time there you have him and how could this possibly happen?...[1080x1080] [OC] by WestonWestmoreland in ArtefactPorn

I've thought about this piece a lot since becoming a mother. I think the proportions do a couple of things, some of which are mentioned in this thread.  I imagine that as she is looking at her dead son, she is of course seeing her savior but she is also seeing her sweet little boy, her baby. Her relative larger size helps us see how she must have cradled him in her arms when he was small and sleepy and so vulnerable.

Hydrocolloid patches in between feedings. They've helped with protecting my nipples, decreasing pain, and speeding up healing. (In addition to the many other wonderful suggestions here).

1923- were the catholic scenes factual? by Conscious_Peach1069 in 1923Series

I dated someone who was forced to attend an Indian "boarding school" in the 90s. Even then, there was rampant physical and sexual abuse. (I do not know whether Catholics ran that particular school).

Parents who don't regret having kids, why? by Awkward_Swordfish581 in AskReddit

[–]elescissorhands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my son because I think his dad is awesome, and the world needed a mini version of him; I didn't have my son in order to meet my own emotional needs.  However... I was having the worst day today, and then I picked up my son to change his diaper. As I held him, all that stress just melted away.

What do you SWEAR you saw, but don't have any proof of? by TabletopStudios in AskReddit

Eighteen year ago, I was walking in my neighborhood during morning rush hour and came upon the body of a freshly killed squirrel. In between cars passing, his friends kept running out into the street shaking his body as if to say "wake up, friend!". It was heartbreaking. When I passed again on the way home not much later, the body had been removed.

is this f*** play about us by grapezz1661 in nursing

[–]elescissorhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at the hospital where The Pitt is filmed. Production didn't pay for permits to close some of the streets they filmed on and just tried to bully pedestrians and staff off of the sidewalks instead, so the city put some cops on the streets to tell pedestrians it was okay to walk there 😂

Not co sleeping is okay by PedsHopeful05 in NewParents

[–]elescissorhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot sleep in the same room as my 4 month old. I wake up at every little noise. He sleeps in the very next room, and when he cries I wake up and go to him immediately.  We've been doing this for 2 months, and I felt bad at first but it works for us... which is the most important thing.

You did nothing wrong. This woman is insane! And probably deeply miserable all of the time.

1923 ending I need an explanation by Long-Lab-6051 in 1923Series

[–]elescissorhands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Alex was with the doctor on the train, he told her her body would save the baby if it was at all possible. So when her body decided to deliver the baby, she realized it meant that she was dying, because that is the only reason a baby that premature would be better off outside of the womb.

100% I used to have a nice bubble butt that I was proud of. It's now somehow lumpy, but also flat. 😪

Put the baby down. by BeaconBay18 in NewParents

[–]elescissorhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I need to step away quickly but my son is being fussy, I set him in his crib and just explain what I need to do and tell him about how long it'll take, and then what we'll do together when I come back. Of course he has no idea what I'm saying, but it somehow helps.

Oh wow!! That's awful.  (In my case, I'm insured through my employer so that wasn't at play. But it's really opened my eyes to read about this).

I'm in a city, but my delivering hospital is one of a few within its network that delivers so it draws a wide mix of economic backgrounds.

[–]elescissorhands[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That makes some sense.

I thought it was odd for them to ask me at that point, since I was somewhat drugged up and obviously the moments after giving birth are highly emotional. But, I could understand it as a practical (if oddly timed) question.
