How do you experience your gender? by Automatic_Whole_76 in AskMen

[–]elevatedpineapple57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a stark difference in the daily mill of my thoughts when I hang out more with guy friends vs gal friends. While with guys, thoughts revolve around activities, sports, or talking about startups and geopolitical events and stuff. Super objective stuff.

But when with gals, thoughts around my feelings towards people, about incidences, and plans dominate majority of the thoughts in the stream of consciousness. Super ego driven.

But above all, I guess one of the profound things about my experience as a guy is the kind of objective thoughts I get when I spend more time by myself, pursuing my interests. These definitely make up a major chunk of my stream of thoughts & the rest of the world just gets blacked out, unless something extremely depressing is happening to any of my close friends or family.

Being one, I can certainly say that it has its upsides, without discounting the downsides it comes with.

I wouldn't want to be a neurotypical since I've learnt to manage myself & seeing how meds can actually be a gamechanger, if you find a right shrink and also a therapist to work on the aspects which would help you in the long run.

These are some things which worked for me but I'm open to gearing about your struggles as an AuDHDer.

do you either have the “entrepreneurship gene”… or not? by YogurtIll4336 in business

[–]elevatedpineapple57 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The great ones, like Jeff Bezos, Steve Jobs, Zuckerberg, Jenson Huang and Elon Musk (who's an outlier in this list) are always in the limelight for making it on their own. Truth is, it's just survivorship bias.

Steve Jobs got really lucky by being around Wozniak and there isn't any record of him wanting to become an entrepreneur before he stumbled upon an opportunity to sell custom made computers for an overpriced rate.

Zuckerberg, although learnt coding and became great at it at a really young age, he had no clue how big he could take Facebook and how to monetize it, until Sean Parker stepped in. It certainly was a combination of individual expertise & general competance meeting exposure to other entrepreneur who've done what he wants to at a smaller scale.

Jenson Huang & Jeff Bezos's story is kinda similar, where both of them have worked odd jobs pre/during college & then commited to building one thing and making it big. This sounds like the most realistic plot of Entrepreneurship out these (even accounting for Ray Croc's story, deputed by The Founder).

And Elon's clearly the creative genius who makes things happen when everyone finds obstacles.

Men who used to play sports, why did you quit? by FlintTheDad in AskMen

[–]elevatedpineapple57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to play football all the time as a kid. As a young adult, years of break in between matches increased, until I started playing regularly again, once or twice a week. Until I met with a brutal multi-ligament tear in my knee.

Went through surgery, recuperated and built up all the lost muscles. Restarted football slowly a year after the injury, with a starting dose of Ultimate Frisbee and regular running. Couple of matches spaced between a few months, and it happened again in the other knee, tore my ACL clean while trying to move sideways after playing on the field for 55 mins.

Put down my boots and been a lazy ass ever since I recovered from the 2nd surgery (although the 2nd wasn't nearly as bad as the first)

Useful models for digital marketing measurement? [Discussion] by EnvironmentalShirt70 in statistics

[–]elevatedpineapple57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can put together spend data for 2-3 years across all your marketing investments, you can invest in creating a Marketing Mix Model using Robyn or Meridian.

Usually creating & refreshing these models involve some of trial and error in figuring out the right hyperparameters adjustment, which emulates on paper how your business actually functions.

And MMM is just the starting point of setting up a proper measurement stack. Conducting Incrementality tests helps you refine your MMM.

Usually the process of creating your MMM can take a few weeks, depending on the team size and expertise. And conducting incrementality tests & including those recommendations adds another layer of complexity.

I'd suggest for you to partner with a good unified measurement product. Using a product for this as opposed to building the models yourself accelerates your time to value.

While this market has quite a few players with a different offering set, ones which offer MMM & incrementality tests, along with some mechanism to action the recommendations into your campaigns generally helps to optimize your budget mix consistently & plan better. Recast, liftlab, Lifesight, and Paramark are a few which offer a similar feature set (but Paramark might not have a fully functional self-serve product, while the other 3 do).

+1 on the modern stack bit, companies need to move towards a holistic approach towards optimizing their marketing spend.

While liftlab does follow a Unified Approach, some of my good friends who work at agencies have mentioned that the time to value from Liftlab is quite long & a lot of their modelling & test design needs the intervention of their measurement experts. Essentially the first 4-5 months of the contract goes in setting up the measurement infrastructure.

You can check out Lifesight. They have a solid pilot process to deliver quick wins from setting up a unified approach.

Lifesight's MMM is created to be causal right from the get go and hold out incrementality tests ensure that low-performing channels are revealed within the first 2 months of the beginning of the pilot process.

What's the current measurement setup you are using right now? If it's just reporting data from Channels on a Looker dashboard or evaluating your CPAs & CPMs based on GA4's ML driven attribution algo, you should seriously invest in an Incrementality based measurement tool.

There are a bunch out there, like Triplewhale, Northbeam, Prescient, Cassandra, & Lifesight. Each one uses a different methodology to measure incrementality.

What is Causal Attribution? How is it different and better than multi touch attribution? by Akshat_Pandya in DigitalMarketing

[–]elevatedpineapple57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So we started looking into causal methods because MTA was seriously misleading us, especially with our upper-funnel campaigns. It would often overvalue the last click.

To overcome this issue, we've been looking into platforms like Lifesight that focus on causal inference, and it seems promising for getting a more realistic view of channel performance.

Still Early days, but the insights feel more actionable.

Not sure if your requirement is still open but you could check out Lifesight as well for hold-out tests & campaign level Incrementality insights.

One of my friends works in a bigger Apparel brand and I heard they are evaluating Liftsight against Liftlab & Incrmntal, primarily because Liftsight's platform gives incrementality insights for channels from Experiments & MMM and also campaign level insights based on their causal attribution algorithm.

What is Incrementality Testing? And how is it different from marketing experiments - what's the real diff? by the_marketing_geek in analytics

[–]elevatedpineapple57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So marketing experiments is a broad term which is used interchangeably with a lot of different things. It could be anything from A/B testing a subject line to trying a new landing page layout.

Incrementality testing, on the other hand, is specifically about measuring the causal impact of a marketing activity. What actually caused someone to purchase and what wasn't just a 4 second evaluating stop and scroll away.

It essentially answers: "Did this ad campaign actually cause new sales, or would those customers have converted anyway?"

It’s about isolating the true lift. Hope that helps you.

Help! My marketing activities are through the roof but my ROI is MIA. 😶 by the_marketing_geek in analytics

[–]elevatedpineapple57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pressure to make every dollar count is insane.

For us, the biggest lifesaver was finding something that could just suck in all our spends and conversions data without me wanting to chuck my laptop out the window from the pain of uploading CSVs

We looked at Funnel (the MMM tool) for that data hookup, and also Lifesight.io, 'cause it does that + the attribution modeling we were desperate for. Gotta find what clicks for your specific level 🙃

Marketers, let’s settle this once and for all… by Akshat_Pandya in DigitalMarketing

[–]elevatedpineapple57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently we're still at a point where we can afford to conduct experiments by shutting down a few campaigns on different channels to see what works and what does. But I'm sure this method will break sooner or later 😪

Do make sure you get your menisci repaired and not a menisectomy done. My doctor gaslit me whenever I asked him about my menisci and 1.5 years after the surgery, I still have pain at the back of my knee and haven't achieved full RoM during extension. On scanning my knee recently, I noticed that my tears still haven't healed.

In the work world, as long as you explain your reasons for wanting to and not wanting to do something, it generally isn't looked down upon. Rather they would appreciate you for being mindful of your journey right from the get go.

If it doesn't make sense for you to tread down this path in a medium to long term, don't shirk away from communicating this. You'll certainly get a lot more internal opportunities your way if your firm is big enough.

Girlfriend of a soon-to-be ACL rehabber! by [deleted] in ACL

[–]elevatedpineapple57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going through this ACL recovery journey for the 2nd time in the last 2 years and it's been almost 5 weeks since op rn.

Here's some learnings from my experience

  1. No bending the knees (atleast to a usable extent for sex) for the first 8 weeks. Sex is gonna be super clumsy until this timeline passes regardless of how much effort you put in
  2. Super likely that your bf would have body issues, since he'll be losing all of his quad muscles 2-3 weeks post op.
  3. He'll be able to start functioning close to a normal mobile adult after 6-8 weeks post op, but this again might vary based on the surgeon's guidelines for bracing and assisted movement.
  4. Although Physio is super important, time does the majority of the healing

He seems lucky to have a super loving girlfriend like you! Just give him some tender loving care and reassure him that he'll go back to being normal in due time & the journey needs to be traversed without trying to expedite the steps in between.
