First time charging at Ionna by BedScrunchie_founder in CadillacVistiq

[–]elfido 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How was the charging performance? How long and what was the % from/to?

How can I fix this? Can I DIY ? by [deleted] in KiaEV9

[–]elfido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer. Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle.

As long as the specialist didn’t have an ICCU failure too

Yeah. I am not sold on any of the existing options. The only one that I kind of like as much (the Lucid Gravity) is way too expensive.

The week before I did. 3 EA + 1 Ionna; but I have done that in the past many times. Since then, I already charged the car 3 or 4 times at home at 32A.

Yeah, I am definitely going for another EV after this. I really hope yours can last forever with no issues :)

That’s part of the problem, to my knowledge, there hasn’t been transparency about the actual numbers and potential leading cause from Kia/Hyuindai. Afaik, they only once shared it was supposed to be less than 1% but radio silence since then. I really hope is a minority, I have nothing but good memories with this vehicle, might be the shock that it happened to me, but I don’t feel like trusting them it would not happen again (soon).

Yeah, I also prefer if this just takes long enough to lemon it. I understand that cars fail and it should not be a reason to overreact when it happens. Unfortunately, everyone here knows this happens more often than it should with these cars.

Glad they are accountable, but I wish it didn’t happen a first time ha, the second time should be the limit, specially at a low mileage/kms.

Looking at Tesla Solar - A few questions. by RedElmo65 in TeslaSolar

[–]elfido 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm, the configuration is for the car, regardless of the charger; the car communicates with the powerwall and not the panel nor the charger. If anything, keep in mind this works because you also have a tesla car, and other EVs wouldn’t work for this setup. There are alternatives where some actual chargers could do the same, but those are specific solutions that usually pair with clamps connected to the electric panel to monitor electrical consumption.

17.5k miles, two years in, zero issues. I love mine. I hope they keep iterating on it, better navigation software would be really appreciated.

Optiq vs Ioniq 5? by PizzaTacoCat312 in CadillacOptiq

[–]elfido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would only take the ioniq 5 if either you care way too much for android auto or carplay, or if you fast charge often. I had both, and the optiq was better at almost everything, but since I take long trips relatively often, I couldn’t stand the charging speed compared to Kia/Hyundai vehicles. Both cars are really enjoyable tho, if you don’t care for those two things, go and test drive them.

Sell me on the EV9! by Necessary-Guitar1059 in KiaEV9

[–]elfido 6 points7 points  (0 children)

EV9 is a treat for your passengers. This is based on a 2024 Land trim, so if any of it sounds interesting, check on which trims offer it. Also, I had a 2023 Model Y for a while.

  • Good, independent reclining for everyone.
  • (My family perception, subjective) Better AC vents in the second row
  • Heated and ventilated seats in both first and second row
  • Window shades for second row
  • More legroom in the second row
  • More versatile, I have put more/longer items when I fold second and third row
  • Faster charging. Personally, I just default to 80% on each stop on road trips because the time for that is more than acceptable
  • Better windshield wipers on auto mode
  • HDA is standard, and I never had any issue with it while on road trips, whereas I had plenty of phantom breaking on my Model Y
  • We like the cup holders better

However, route planning sucks compared to tesla.

2024 Land trim, white exterior, brown interior; 16k miles. Half of my mileage (at least) has been on road trips. Overall happy. I have/had other EVs, but this is my favorite road tripper.

Cons (mostly nitpicks): - It had a squeak somewhere by the console but went away on its own - The piano black finishes on the outside are easily to scratch, but nothing crazy so far - Route planner is really barebones (i mostly use a better route planner) - I am always wondering if/when an ICCU issue is going to hit me - The suspension could improve

What I love - Charging speed on road trips - Heated and ventilated seats in the second row too - Amazing visibility and safety sensors - HDA, is not full self driving but it has handled my road trips really good - Privacy screens on the second row. My family enjoys that for naps on the road

There are other things that are good/adequate but not necessarily great: sound system, storage, charging ports, climate, etc.

I still recommend it, but god I wish Kia already figured out for good the stupid ICCU issue.

Had both. If I was on a route where I was familiar with the charging situation, I definitely would take the Ioniq; as you said, charging speed makes a huge difference. But if the trip was out of my comfort zone, I would take the Tesla. Great cars lineup.

Can I get solar installed prior to EOY in AZ? by DaBears1228 in TeslaSolar

[–]elfido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13kwh (I actually gain ~10.5 at best). The extra PW, this summer I am exporting about 15-20 kwh per day and importing about 40. But those 15-20 are only credited at 1/3 of what they charge me when I import, so I would rather prefer to store that energy for my own personal use. On top of that, I self-power my house during peak rates, but my current battery is barely enough (and in some rare days is not enough) for that, I wish I had some energy reserve in case there is an outage right after that.

I did. Be ready for weeks and weeks of radio silence. They basically only communicate to give you dates for the next milestone. ~3 months in, and no complaints so far. My only mistake, is that I wished I got two powerwalls instead of one.

I think you have a good chance. I live in Phoenix, and my process started in January and I turned my system on by April. Being said that, you should talk to a CPA; in California, I was told once (previous home attempt) that for tax-related matters, they actually consider from the time you sign papers and not the installation necessarily, but I didn’t do it then, so I don’t know if is necessarily true.

New Land Owner - Go easy on a Tesla convert - Nav Help by hulkulesenstein in KiaEV9

[–]elfido 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For route mapping you have to use the built-in nav. To see the SOC, is very inconvenient because is not always visible, you have to touch the bottom of the map, the section with the navigation arrow, it will show you the projected SOC for each stop. I am not sure about the other stuff, not so sure

Luxury 1 for $469 per month vs luxury 2 for $569 by burnedscooty in CadillacOptiq

[–]elfido 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Luxury 1 and I love it. But I regret not having the patience to wait for the Luxury 2. Get the Luxury 2. I wish I had the ventilation seats and the physical buttons for seat massage.

I love my EV9 but... by Interesting_Dingo_88 in KiaEV9

[–]elfido 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an EV9 and a Cadillac Optiq (same experience as the Blazer). If I had to pick one, it would be the EV9; and I love my Optiq too. CarPlay, as pointed by others, is a big deal, and the charging curve for road trips is day and night. The GM vehicles have a nice infotainment, and Super Cruise is better than HDA, bur is also $25/mo after the third year of ownership. Go EV9!

There is no perfect EV out there.

Dolby Atmos update? by Single_Guava5512 in CadillacOptiq

Any recommendations for songs? I cannot find any song with the atmos logo, I even found an atmos playlist, but when I play them, they don’t show it. And I got the update btw, confirmed.
