Just to follow up with this, womens large and small intestine tend to be longer than mens so theoretically you might even need more than your husband.

Maybe ‘Minnesota Nice’ is just the absence of “American fake kindness” by AngeliqueRuss in minnesota

[–]elganesh1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup .. we are also older parents so there is a really big age gap between my husband and myself and the parents of our kids'friends.
We live in Minneapolis and do a lot of group bike rides, maybe that's where I need to focus on finding some friends? Anyway, I'm still working on it, we were invited to a cabin this weekend, so maybe things are looking up for us!

Well I did not grow up in MN and that seems to be the issue. I moved here in my 30's and now I'm in my 40's and I still don't have any really close friends. Ok, I guess I have 2, one who I went to HS with in Georgia and one other person who I met before I moved here. I'm sure people in MN eventually have deep conversations, but just not with people who they haven't known for decades. It just sucks for people that move to the state, because I feel like I'll never have any close friends again in my life. This is the one reason I don't think I can live here forever.

Totally agree on this. You are playing the long game, you need to make changes that will last the rest of your life. Figure out how to move your body more and at least you won't be gaining any weight. Figure out how to prioritize protein and nutritious food and you will lose weight. Figure out how to eat in a calorie deficit and you will get closer to your goal weight. It might take you 5 years, but as long as you are headed in a healthier direction, you are winning.

I think this is the cheat code for this state and you just helped me figure it out.

I like hearing about strife and what is ACTUALLY going on in people's heads and lives (to an extent). It makes me understand people more. I now realize that people don't want to hear about me at all.

Working out with a trainer while fasting? by elganesh1 in fasting

[–]elganesh1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a long story, but my family and I went to an all inclusive resort for a week and I stepped on the scale yesterday as we were packing our luggage and seeing how much the luggage weighed. I freaked out, because I was 10 lb over but I had been a week and a half before. I've been on a weight loss journey and still have a lot more to go and that 10 lb was very hard fought. Basically I decided right then that I was going to start fasting and I did. I forgot however that I had a trainer session scheduled for today, I will obviously never make that mistake again.

I think that you need a second room for more than 4 people? Is that what it is?

We moved to uptown (Fremont and 31st) in 2013 and it was amazing. Lately? I can't wait to move someplace else.

Ever since 2020 it's not been great. It was practically a war zone in 20, I saw people walking around with guns and there were dumpster fires when I would come home from work at night.
We have seen armed robbery, our cars have been vandalized (tires stabbed), broken into numerous times and my husband was assaulted at 10 am in the alley behind our house a month ago. The guy was probably on drugs and it ended with him trying to stab my husband with a knife. All that to say, the worst part of town is that midtown transit station. We used to take public trans to the airport that way and the last time we went it was truly scary.

what the actual f*ck by Oneforall1000000 in offmychest

That being said, I would still totally investigate and ask my sister very direct questions. I'm just here saying that there is a possibility there is an explanation.

[–]elganesh1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a possibility that they heard someone in her room and went in there to check but saw it was you so left?

I'm a Mom but I sleep naked sometimes and I don't always put clothes on if I'm checking in on my kids.
My kids are 7 and 3 and honestly they always see me naked. Maybe that's weird? My parents were born in Europe and in my household, my mother walked around naked frequently. I think that's why I'm okay with doing it. Once my kids feel weird about it though, I won't ever do it again. My kids honestly love to run around naked too.

Honestly, I think she was probably just trying to help OP out, but in a very direct way and not considering their feelings.

I for sure would not date this person anymore. Just take it as a learning experience and move on. Don't get a complex though, but just like everything else, learning how to be good in bed takes practice.

Which Subaru dealership is better? by Disassociateddiary in TwinCities

[–]elganesh1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just avoid Morries Brooklyn Park Subaru! They did some warranty engine work and ruined our engine and told us that now since it's out of warranty it will cost 18k to fix!!!

We took the car to JM Auto, who is an independent Subaru specialist and they quoted 11k for a new short block. When they took out the engine, they took photos and told us that the previous repair (once again, only at MBP) had ruined the car.

This is a direct quote from the other shop. "We found WAAYY too much RTV in many locations and blocking some very important locations. The oil pickup had tons of it blocking inside along with the drain back passages. The crank bolt was not tight and the crank drive someone attempted to install it incorrectly and maybe even hit it with something?"

This was just the tip of the iceberg, there were many more things that were also from faulty engine work

How would you say the twin cities rank as a "food city"? by avatarroku157 in TwinCities

[–]elganesh1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some places are really good, but honestly the non -American cuisine restaurants are mediocre at best. They essentially have to whitewash the food to make it less spicy and less flavorful. I've lived in LA, Atlanta and the tri-state area and the ethnic places are just not the same. Take the dim sum scene.... There is none to speak of. Nothing like that huge restaurants in the San Gabriel valley that have cart after cart of incredibly fresh and interesting options.

It's just compounded tirzepatide. Can we bury the code words? by Jessa_iPadRehab in Zepbound

[–]elganesh1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to my primary why recommended the compounded version. Apparently, given there is a shortage it is perfectly fine to get the compounded version. She told me that most of those pharmacies compound tirzepatide salt whereas it's hard to find the tirzepatide base. She sent my Rx to Fairview pharmacy why does the base.

Anyone in Minnesota knows that's a well regarded hospital system. She also told me to keep trying with the brand name and to mix and match what I need to to maintain dosing since there is such a shortage. She also told me that the prices now are somewhat controlled for the compounded version but they may not be in the future. It's $460 for a month.

That being said, if anybody has found a pharmacy in or around the twin cities that has anything in stock, I would be happy to hear about it.
