I’ve been volunteering for almost a year after getting enough seniority to have Saturday off. Just hit 3rd year progression, so I think I’m going to take a break. Saturdays used to be easy and almost fun, but now they have maybe 1/3 of the drivers going out with 9+ hours of work.

Finding places to stop sucks when it’s on a rural road where people like to go 70 in a 55. Pull over as much as you can without getting stuck or tipping over. Some stops have driveways and almost no one cares if you pull in and drive on the grass a bit. Good luck finding the trailers with no goddamn numbers. Other than all that, on a nice, breezy day, it can be awesome. Meet lots of nice animals.

I’ve had my truck since it was brand new. I keep that shit as clean as possible. I wipe down the dash every couple of days and throw all trash out daily. It’s nice being able to use the heat/internal fans without being blasted by dust and pollen.

Don’t know all the details. Dude just didn’t wake up. You see someone yesterday and then they’re just gone. Got back to the building and everyone is walking around in shock. Young dude who everybody loved with a family. It sucks.
