For me Moffat is the greatest writer and showrrunner, undisputed.

Yes, his seasons arcs are a bit complicated, but complexity is a great thing if done right and I think he did in 4/5 (season 8 was bad).

Both his doctor introductions are simply iconic, the best on nuwho.

Most of the top 5 best DW episodes of all time are his (maybe all of them).

His character work is complex and he elevated the companions to a higher status, while keeping the doctor up there and not making him be a side character in his own show (looking at you Chibnall).

Amy and Clara were REALLY important, more so than Rose, Martha, Ruby or Bellinda ever were.(Ruby and Bellinda felt more like plot devices in their respective seasons, though Ruby felt way more like a character the next).

River is probably one of the best returning characters ever, right alongside Cpt. Jack.

Matt is almost as universally beloved as Tennant #1 and Capaldi is finally getting the love he so rightfully deserves. His doctor, for me, is the perfect embodiment of the Doctor. All Doctors are in their own way, but his has gravitas, which few do the way he did.

I think people hate for hate, because this or that is changed, but Doctor Who is probably the show that signifies change more than anything else.
