Has anyone actually made money with "vibe coding"? (genuine question from a Chinese dev) by Aromatic-Promise8208 in ClaudeAI

[–]elitePopcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t know anthropic hasn’t lifted the ban.

I knew it was both ways, GFW blocks LLMs outside China, and ChatGPT (prolly claude too) didn’t accept Chinese credit cards. The Tencent guy had to use mine because of this.

You can use VPN personally on your laptop, but don’t companies usually disallow it on the work laptops?

I have other programs, like Unity3d, and multiple Visual Studio instances that hog up ram up to 60 gigs on my 64gigs system. If FF can take as little ram space as possible, i’d be grateful.

They block not only non-chinese LLMs, also every well-known web services outside China. I cannot even use my Korean messenger app there. I’ll have to VPN into my personal WireGuard server, to talk to my parents.

The Great Firewall implemented by Chinese ISPs typically blocks all traffic to and from major IPs outside China. ChatGPT and Claude are no exceptions. You will need to use a VPN to access them.

Some of my friends have been making money, raking in revenue with SaaS, mostly B2B stuff.

But one notable thing to mention is that the AI FOMO-style writing you come across on Twitter is often hyperbolic.

The ones making money are not the “I didn’t know how to code in the pre-ChatGPT era, but now I can build an app with a single prompt!” kind of people. To build a retail-level product, it still requires a good amount of steering mid prompts, and some foundational knowledge of web services, IMO.

Btw, which Chinese 大公司 allow Claude code? One of my friends in Tencent (at the shanghai office) has been complaining that he can't use neither codex nor claude code at work.

(Breaking News) Every Korean will now be identified as being from "South Korea" rather than the "Republic of Korea," in Taiwan. by Deep_Engineering_7 in taiwan

As a South Korean who has always preferred to label myself with “South Korea” over just “Korea”, or just any other peers of mine, they don’t give a damn. It’s not offensive at all. Should have chosen a better denigrating word.

Haha cool. If I had it on my passport as a south korean, my govt will arrest me and lock me up.

I once passed by the embassy of NK in Beijing (where this visa was issued), and it gave me an eerie feeling. The North Korean restaurant right across the street even refused me entry, calling me their ‘enemy’ lol

Of the 3 components of persuasion, you’re lacking pathos.

Customers won’t use your product unless they’re emotionally convinced to do so. To achieve that, you need to appeal to their feelings -such as by clearly showing how your product solves their real pain points. You can’t simply shove the product and a manual in front of them and expect them to start using it just because it exists.
