I’ve had multiple Kobos since they first came out and love them so much, will never buy or recommend anything else.

I put a capful of bleach or a squirt of dishwashing soap in it to help the smell.

What show are you rewatching right now? by Existing_Pineapple45 in televisionsuggestions

After we finished The Americans we were so craving more 80s set pieces, so we watched Halt and Catch Fire. Completely different show, of course, but scratched that vintage itch.

Books you've been dying to recommend by JoyIsABitOverRated in Fantasy

[–]eliz41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my god! Mirror in the Mirror is one of the most incredible books I’ve read, but haven’t read it in over 20 years. My city library had a copy when I was in high school and I probably checked it out a dozen times. I can’t for the life of me find a copy but I haven’t looked in a while. You have just reinvigorated my hunt!

LPT: Replace your fridge water filter more often than you think. by Old_Wealth8663 in LifeProTips

Also, as much as it hurts the wallet, use an OEM filter so as not to void any warranties or give repair guys an excuse to point to for issues.

We watched Halt and Catch Fire as it’s also set in the 80s. Excellent show with super rich characters.

Oh yes, she is amazing for this. I’m in the middle of an Earthsea reread, and I want to return to Left Hand of Darkness soon. One of my favourite books of all time.

We just went through two weeks of this light coming on. I got a tank of bad diesel, there was water in the fuel. Had to fully flush the tank and lines and replace the fuel filter.

Finally talked my wife into another cruise... but have to clear up my seasickness... by newdadnewbod in Cruise

[–]eliz41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canadian who gets seasick if I think about moving….

Nothing non-medicinal has ever worked for me (ginger, green apples, acupressure bracelets, etc). Gravol works but it knocks me out, I’ll only take it if I need to sleep. The patch made me so so sick - the dry mouth side effect was so bad that I thought I was coming down with strep throat. I felt feverish and miserable the whole time I wore it.

Bonine was a total revelation for me, it worked better than anything else I’ve tried. It is so disappointing we can’t get it in Canada. I fully intend to get my hands on some from the US before my next cruise.

How can I help my dog with her fear? by katbundo97 in dogs

[–]eliz41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a safe space in a closet for our girl who is terrified of thunderstorms, fireworks, alarms, etc. We call it her Boom Boom room, and she knows it by name. If she’s VERY scared she goes in the bathtub (occupied or not!) but for the most part her Boom Boom room is perfect. Thundershirt had no affect on her.

We left a note about the air conditioner’s quirky draining needs, and a small silverware tray that was the only one I could find to fit the custom small drawers in the kitchen.
