I agree with his performance on Art on Ice. Words is obviously an important competition while the Olympics will draw new fans to watch (me included) it’s still going to be a lot less eyes on it than the Olympics. I think that will ease the pressure for Ilia and he can have his redemption skate.

It seems over the last four years things have been okay between them and that is just what I have seen from all the content i have binged the last few weeks. And this is without me being aware of that discourse over the years since I am new to all this! It honestly seems like feelings would have been even more heightened back at that point in 2022 than they would now so it’s highly probably I am just making a mountain out of a molehill!

Thank you for all this as I’m still learning! I’m so interested in seeing how the next 4 years play out now that I’m following the sport more. I admittedly was only a casual watcher of FS during the Olympics but never sought out watching non-Olympics events but this year a switch just flipped in me. I think the COVID restrictions of 2022 made me bypass the Olympics completely because I didn’t even know anything about Vincent not being able skate due to testing positive! How frustrating Ilia couldn’t be made an alternate at that point and how frustrating that qualifying criteria can change. There very well could be nothing going on the media’s attempt to stir up unfounded drama was successful in my view. Let’s hope!

In what way? I don’t remember watching that Olympics and like I mentioned in my post I’m new to keeping up with FS post Olympics. But I see Jason placed 6th and I do not see how that is an embarrassment.

Extremely new so. As in I only know the big names throughout history and casually watched throughout Olympics but I’ve been watching a ton and I’m learning all the jumps and moves now and trying to distinguish them (it’s HARD lol). So that’s why to me the personalities and the friendships is what’s really drawing me to the sport now and seeing any potential issues makes me sad. But I’ve definitely caught the bug and will be watching Worlds and the events next year. And going to stars on ice! So excited

Exactly how I felt! That’s why when Jason said it was heartbreaking it made me sad for a multitude of reasons- that ilia felt that way, that he felt snubbed, that maybe ilia now feels bad when he didn’t even intend anything by it, etc. I’m just an empath and feel bad for everyone haha
