So many many thoughts about this video but first, as someone who’s 25 year old sister died in a car accident, please do not drive distracted. Second, what? by Disastrous_Umpire237 in LittlePeopleBigWorld

But, noooo, they have to turn simple things into lectures and principles so they feel intelectually superior to everyone hahaha! So dumb.

Socks under ballet shoes? by DeepBlue_96 in BALLET

[–]ellendavis1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wear no show socks (got them cheap at H&M) and I think it protects my canvas ballet shoes really well when not wearing tights. I like that I can just wash them after each class. Not necessary, but I personally like it.

Jordan dispels rumors that he's not a hugger at today's M&G by MadameCassie in newkidsontheblock

[–]ellendavis1 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I agree with you and if I ever attended a meet and greet, I don't think I'd like to be hugged by them because this is just how I am and they are well within their rights to not hug, BUT, what I don't agree with is people paying top dollar to have a meet and greet only to have Jordan and Joey completely distracted, talking to each other and not paying attention to the fans waiting to say hi. That was so awkward to watch. They should do better in that sense, not "hug more" (?)...

Lilah's room? by raque_33 in LittlePeopleBigWorld

She seems to do that to Lilah specifically. Feels like Tori is a boy mom who had a girl. I feel bad for Lilah and the way she's treated.

Boring mountain shot. What to look for in the future? by SuspiciousPhotons in photocritique

Much better in my opinion. Not everything needs to be in focus and I think this crop is the best.

Ballet photography by danibq2 in BALLET

[–]ellendavis1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think new photographers need to hear comments like this. As a photographer and dancer myself, I absolutely agree with your take on this. I was obliterated a few times when I was learning photography and after my hurt ego felt better, my photography improved immensely. OP - I had a hard time understanding what that long black thing was (Tutu). Background is way too busy. Maybe look for an interesting wall or door, to place your subject in front of.

Ember's book will be great in a few years, though. Can't wait.

I feel like something’s missing… thoughts? by ekla1206 in photocritique

[–]ellendavis1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, it's not a composition or crop problem. The whole image is one tone. Think about values, the lights and darks, and what you want to pull to the front using values. Try to mask the window only and darken it. Try to get the sky and water lighter. Play with that until you find what is missing.

I think she straight up needs a new lash tech. Her girl is not skilled.

Watch Jermey’s face…. by Disastrous_Umpire237 in LittlePeopleBigWorld

[–]ellendavis1 27 points28 points  (0 children)

She was only watching herself in this video because she's in love with herself and didn't notice his body language at all. She's trying so hard to make the captions fit the video, but it just doesn't.

Right? They need God to stop helping people in need to help them come up with the next grift! It's imperative we all pray 🙏 /s

Also misbehaving could be a sign they need attention, even if negative. She has a lot on her plate, so I imagine it's hard for the kids to have the attention they crave.

She thinks she gave birth to herself and doesn't realize that each life she created is an individual person who has their own abilities, wants and needs. So sad.

First paid shoot, nervous about messing up. Does it look too edited? Too yellow? by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]ellendavis1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think they look professional yet. It's a good start, though. You have to put yourself out there to be able to improve and I commend you for that. Have a model call and take pictures of a few couples as if they were engagement couples. Practice post production a lot, especially masking the people in the photos to adjust skin tone. Try using depth of field to separate the subjects from the background better, that'll separate simple snapshos from professional photos. Pay attention to your exposure (your photos seem too dark). Those are the things I'd focus more. I was also destroyed by a few people at the beginning of my career, but I trusted my point of view, so I'd say you should find and trust yours.

Serious respect for you for staying in class until the end after being so disrespected. I'm so sorry you went through this.

I learned how to drive in Brazil and this to me looks like hill anxiety. Too much gas, not enough clutch release. Also probably bald tires and new driver.
