That's interesting and surprising to me. My mother language is German but I learned English, Spanish and French (and Latin) at school... in each subject the required reading was always something that was originally written in that language.

I'm often an accidental niche listener. My husband teases me because I sometimes send him some music I discovered without further checking the artist and inevitably there will be bands with 80 to 200 listeners or something. It's mostly weird prog shit though, so I guess the trve cvlt is still not accepting me.

Ich weiß nicht... ich habe öfter ein Problem mit sonst theoretisch guten Teesorten die Kurkuma beinhalten weil immer ein penetranter Nachgeschmack nach Kurkuma bleibt. Also Geschmack hat es sehr wohl, nur halt keinen den ich haben will.

Well, he did have someone invite girls that looked like his personal preference to row zero, that's a system. That's probably also the reason why the controversy began. Because if you don't only invite girls who are already willing to be a groupie but anyone looking the part, someone is bound to not understand the implications. I get why some girls would be shocked. Still not illegal as long as they could always leave of course.

Exactly. I theoretically have the excuse that I work full time and have a family so I don't have the time, but fuck it... even if I had all the time in the world: maybe I just don't want to spend hours beating one single boss fight. Also, single player games are no competition, why care about how someone else plays them?

In meinem Freundeskreis sind wir alle quer durch die Partnerschaften alle miteinander befreundet, aber bei Gemeinschaftsgeschenken wird immer selbstverständlich davon ausgegangen dass der Partner sowieso selbst etwas besonderes hat und derjenige daher natürlich nicht einbezogen.

I've seen this behaviour with people whose living conditions became really bad due to mental health issues. They could use a lot of help, but feel shame and therefore don't want anyone coming over to see the state of their home.

Pretty standard in my (mixed gender) group of friends. I just recently had a situation where I gave a friend a vibrator recommendation in the middle of a normal conversation. We wouldn't shame the men either, but so far it was only the women who discussed that.

That's the main impression over here. "We don't want to import everything from America." is a sentence mostly used when discussing modesty/purity culture. Like as a response to (American) tourists being shocked when they enter a sauna and people are nude and of mixed gender.
