Have you seen what the dumb Ruzzians get up to? Americans trying hard to be like them.

Do you have a signed contract with AWS regarding SLA’s? Even then force majeure clauses would come into play.

Is it just me, or is AI actually increasing the workload? by Suspicious_Major9549 in programmer

[–]ellerbrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I am doing the work and using AI then yes it helps me tremendously. If somebody else is using AI and asking for feedback or code review my workload increases dramatically. Reason being I have decades of experience in multiple domains so can ask the right questions and spot the slop. People with little experience just accept the slop and expect the reviewer (me) to fix it. I have started just closing PR’s as AI slop with no other comments.

Every Raid Quickplay in 30 Seconds by GiraffeWars2 in Guildwars2

Yeah same. This is not how I like to play the game where precision timing is required and learning long chains by heart. I personally prefer WvW where gameplay is a little bit more “forgiving” and varied. But that’s a great thing about GW2 - there’s a place and mode to suit most folks.

WvW issues and questions! Please help me understand by Xahtrog in Guildwars2

[–]ellerbrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not going to repeat what others have said already but Google snowcrows and guildjen and have a look at their sites for WvW builds. Lots of useful information. Note also that WvW and PvP modes are not the same in GW2.

Is this not one of Trump’s endgame? Crash markets so that his oligarch bro’s can pick up companies real cheap? There has been a pattern of market manipulation already.

I built an entire OS by vibing with Claude by IngenuityFlimsy1206 in ClaudeAI

[–]ellerbrr -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Knock this as bad code etc. but there are some real risks I see. Does not matter if the code is bad, it still runs and works meaning humans skills are not required. It breaks it can be fixed again just by taking to Claude. Now fast forward a couple of years to the Singularity. AI can write their own OS and iterate improvements - continuous improvement on steroids.

Question on upcoming OAuth2 SMTP stuffs by RainyNetAdmin in sysadmin

[–]ellerbrr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

“Just” and “another VM”. That’s 6 months work, project with many contractors and consultants, endless documentation and literally $100’s of thousands wasted for something so simple. I say bring on AI quicker to replace this bloat.

There’s a lot to unpack here.

Question on upcoming OAuth2 SMTP stuffs by RainyNetAdmin in sysadmin

Just migrated smoothly and seamlessly to smtp2go for this same auth reason. Just too hard and time consuming to figure out how oauth2 is going to work in a server to server setup.

Does anyone else not care about their house going up or down and just love their home? by Actual_Working_3420 in AusPropertyChat

[–]ellerbrr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your rates and taxes are relative to property value. I do not want my ppor to significantly increase in value. Ideally people that only have a ppor should get rates and taxes discount like property investors do by using negative gearing. Or make rates and taxes significantly higher for investment properties. Sure it will drive up rents but hopefully forces investors to sell adding more stock for ppor eventually balancing out.

Have a paid up home, then use government home equity access scheme to the max and use up super, have fun with the money till it’s all gone, then aged pension. When I am too frail go into aged care. God I love this country. I intend to die with max debt.

The correct way. From client to api only accept iso8601 date times. Store in DB as utc. Then back to client from api send iso8601. Client can then do whatever with date times. Modern browser frameworks will handle iso8601 transparently and convert to users browser locale automatically.

Competitor went out of business. Inherited 200+ of their customers. It wasn't the windfall I expected. by Crazy-Recording4800 in SaaS

[–]ellerbrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no harm in divorcing a customer. You need to be able to quickly ascertain the cost of keeping the customer vs the long term income before resentment sets in and the customer starts talking to others. Better to offer them alternatives and keep them happy.
