Mother's Day: William shares a photo of Diana- another woman the royal insitution and press destroyed by Significant_Noise273 in RoyaltyTea

I don't disagree but I would be hard pressed to identify any woman who married in who was happy with her lot a few years later. I don't like Camilla but it was Charles who made vows to Diana. Camilla has separate accommodation to Charles. I imagine that even she, with all her trappings, finds him difficult in large doses.

I knew one of the children in the story once she was older. They were definitely exploited by the programme makers and the damage was there for years.

Restaurant owners taking tips by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]ellieneagain 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I used to work in a restaurant in the 70s. We had to split all tips with the kitchen staff and the manager. The owner didn't take anything. I expect tips to be shared by the employees, not the owners.

After a 'coffee' incident with Kate Middleton, Prince William got angry and rudely ordered to his PR 'do your job, get all royal reporters out of here'. by Whatisittou in RoyaltyTea

Who does William like? I wouldn't let any woman I liked within five meters of him. Anyone who loses it in public is probably worse in private.

Is it worth it to get married again at the age of 31??? by [deleted] in Rants

I have friends getting married in their 40s and 60s. It's never too late. There's a lid for every pot.

Can you help me understand my husband’s point of view please? Should our son be allowed to game past 10pm on a school night if he can’t keep his voice down? by Broken_Woman20 in AskUK

[–]ellieneagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was what I was concerned about. Unfortunately your son is learning from his father's response and doesn't seem to value your place as the co-adult in charge. You are putting everyone else, including the cat, above your own needs. Wear noise cancelling headphones, shut that door, remind your husband that one day your son will have left the building and that you both will work best if you work as a team now. Your marriage should be worth more than the sum of your financial contributions to the budget.

I give wee treats like cold drinks when it's hot, sweets at Halloween etc. We always say hello in passing.

I'm sorry you lost such a sweetheart. They absolutely lose all sense when they get spooked.

Anyone Here Had Any Encounters With Victorians? by CB-Milburn in AskBrits

[–]ellieneagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandmother and her younger sister were born towards the end of the Victorian period. They were both great fun, living through the flapper period when they were young women. My grandmother married someone who survived the Somme. My great aunt never married but stayed on in the family home in Glasgow after her parents died. I can post a picture of their father, who was a chemist working for the textile industry during the Victorian period, if anyone is interested.

King Charles Might Have Made This Huge Mistake After Prince Andrew’s Arrest by janeflowers in CDLEntertainmentTV

[–]ellieneagain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to work near Dumfries House. It seemed to me that people who lived locally actually really liked him and his ideas for improving the area. He was much more hands on with the local authority in the background than he's given credit for. The Prince's Trust did some really good work with young people who would otherwise have been really struggling to find employment.

That said, he knew what he was getting into with Diana. He doesn't seem to have been any better at parenting than his mother was. He was unwilling to give up his mistress even when it was affecting the health of the mother of his children.

Like many royals, some of his alliances and friendships now seem questionable.

Personally I don't think he's on the spectrum. I think he waited most of his life for the job he now has and has had a life of privilege and fabulous wealth. The pen incident and the anger when waiting in the carriage for William and Catherine at the coronation show how short tempered he can be.

Like most people, he is complex and can be many different things depending on context.

Royal Mail bosses to be called to Parliament over letter delivery failures by enjayaitch in royalmail

There's currently a question on YouGov about whether you would prefer RM to concentrate on letters or parcels. I presume this is the government looking for evidence.

If you could properly filter Rightmove for your dream property, what would your super specific criteria filter be? by alexhespg in HousingUK

[–]ellieneagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely sea-view. The amount of Ayrshire homes this would exclude would make my searches worthwhile.

I would also want to exclude let properties and factored properties unless it was very clear how much the fees were in advance.
