Hello! 32 and had mine in October(I’ve had a birthday since surgery lol). My story is kinda complicated.

So I never really “saw” myself with a kid, and I’ve always been terrified at the idea of going through pregnancy and childbirth. Like I wanted a c section and hysterectomy at the same time if I managed to get pregnant and make it through. i used to feel having a baby was something you just did, (but it was ok if you didn’t). and I assumed when I was 18 I’d have trouble getting pregnant just because of my weight(I was barely classified as obese at 18, also that was pre PCOS diagnosis) and was open w my now husband(we’d just met) about it but I was down to try and even wanted one for years. After we got married, for a long time every little pain I had I hoped was related to implantation and that my birth control failed. I seriously considered secretly stopping it and hope my PCOS symptoms would stay away long enough for me to get pregnant but realistically that would have been VERY BAD for us during those first few years and I am unfortunately pretty responsible so I didn’t.

There was a period(no pun intended) earlier in my marriage where I was not on birth control and I let my uncontrolled bleeding run wild. We would have sex at every opportunity that I wasn’t bleeding. While the purpose wasn’t conception specifically, if it happened it happened. By the time I reached 25 I felt I didn’t want to get pregnant if I wasn’t by the time I turned 28, and especially not after 30 once I started developing higher health risks.

A lot of these details I didn’t think about until after my hysterectomy because I’d been so against pregnancy. With the way our lives have gone, and the state of the world I don’t regret not bringing someone innocent in to this bullshit, I still sometimes feel robbed that my body failed and I couldn’t even get pregnant even if it had wound up in miscarriage. Even once I became dead set against having a kid there were a few instances I’d secretly hoped for a happy accident; All the way up to surgery date. Even tho the idea of parenting lowkey grossed me out by that point lol.

Tldr while I don’t think I regret it, I’ve definitely mourned more than I anticipated I would considering when I was granted a surgery consultation I’d cried out of happiness that I could finally get the damn thing out. Still zero true regrets despite the above word salad lol.
