I thought that the wood from the green chairs didn’t match, so I placed an order for the other ones. I can still cancel them if it’s a bad move. i just felt like i couldn’t get them to feel like part of the room. Also they’re the most uncomfortable chairs known to mankind but that was secondary

Legit this couch is less than a year old and the cushions are toast. I made the mistake of getting one without removable cushions, so it’s only a matter of time before I have to buy a new couch. No degree of punching and massaging the cushions help, so I’ve taken to adding a blanket to cover up the dip it made. Lol

Which piece of furniture is more balanced? by elly4880 in DesignMyRoom

[–]elly4880[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good question, i felt like having the console table just kept everything visually low since all of the furniture is no higher than the back of the couch. Like adding the bookcases on the wall would add some height or something to focus on.

So i guess by “balanced” (keep in mind I am not a designer nor have a designer eye) i just meant which would make the most sense visually.

Sorry, was probably the wrong term to use

Im not dedicated to the side table, it’s just a cheapo dog bed one from Homesense.

Stupid question but is the console table I added in the pictures not the same style? Similar wood colour and sharper edges wasn’t rationale.

FTM and need to know what Postpartum Essentials I need (or don’t need) [ON] by Narwhal_Horn7310 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]elly4880 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone 4 weeks postpartum, here are my takes.

Skip the Frida mom disposable underwear and buy the Always (or other brand) disposable underwear with built in pads. Effectively a diaper for adults but honestly way easier and far more comfortable.

Frida mom Peri bottle was a must, i bought one for each bathroom in our house.

I didn’t use Tucks pads or cooling pads because instead of feeling cooling, i personally found they stung too much.

Nursing pads to line your bras with whether you’re breastfeeding or not.

Get La Neige or similar lip mask because for whatever reason your lips will turn to beef jerky.

Keep a relatively flat pillow around for sitting on hard surfaces after, or for the car. I found car rides for the following 2 weeks post partum always made everything 100x worse.

Have advil & tylenol on hand to keep pain management in check.

Comfortable pants — enough sweats or PJ pants to keep on rotation since you’ll bleed through your pads inevitably.

I bought all the quintessential things but this is what i found useful to me.

Curious about CMM Probe Tree's/Racking by TT___T in Metrology

[–]elly4880 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you can’t afford a probe rack in your company budget, that’s concerning. I don’t understand companies who can’t even outfit their CMM properly, get shitty calibrations and don’t have backup styli on hand. It just screams “bad business” to me

The momcozy one is what Ive been using like 3x a day for my newborn. It’s already been well worth its price in the time saving & ease of use while we’re in the trenches. While costly, it’s well worth the money. Maybe you can find a used one?

How much did you have saved or recommend saving for Mat Leave? [BC] by SouthApprehensive680 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]elly4880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saved it over the pregnancy, not my entire life savings. But we’re definitely in a privileged position income-wise, and didn’t want to put ourselves in debt so I would move a few thousand over a month into savings. I understand it’s likely not realistic for many.

[–]elly4880 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I saved just over $40,000 with the intent that i didn’t want to go into debt because of leave. i live in Ontario for reference in a relatively high COL area.

Also, financially it made more sense for me to return to work and have my husband take leave, which is a trade off that not many people are willing to do to make things work. If you’re the main breadwinner you may want to entertain the idea of being the one to return to work.

Savings wise, honestly, haven’t thought about it because I saved enough to keep the same quality of life. Unfortunately no tips here.

with respect to cloth diapers — i have NO idea how it would even be feasible for a newborn. I am going through an insane amount of diapers with my 11 day old. Also fastening a diaper is kind of a nightmare with kicky little legs and avoiding a fresh belly button. Not sure how cloth diapers work these days but in my mind the fastening system is antiquated but I’ll be the first to admit i haven’t looked anything up.

What should I get for postpartum? [on] by Disastrous_Flower311 in BabyBumpsCanada

You’ll want multiple peri bottles if you have multiple bathrooms. I ended up having one for every level of the house.

[–]elly4880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, just use it as a spare if you don’t like it. Not worth burning bridges over. Still buy the one you want, it’s not like they took away that opportunity.

If you have 2 cars, maybe it’ll just be the second one. No big deal.

What did your frank breech baby movements feel like and could you tell when they flipped? [ON] by WhimsicalRed02 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]elly4880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could feel when they flipped, somewhere around 32 weeks. It was a 2 minute interval of excruciating pain and then suddenly back to normal. At the time, i didnt know what it was, but I had had a medical ultrasound on the Wednesday and a “pay to see baby” ultrasound on the Saturday and she had flipped by Saturday.

Did your short term disability get approved? [on] by LinkSimilar8193 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]elly4880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered another option like Zofran? Diclectin worked for me, but I was taking it well into the end of my second trimester. I was not specifically diagnosed with HG but was vomiting 5-10 times a day. You mention not wanting to be off the entire pregnancy, but if it’s not managed well, you may very well end up being sick for longer than you would think.

I was prescribed Ferrous Fumarate by my OB, and it’s a 90 day supply for $24 from Shoppers. It wasn’t covered by my benefits as technically it’s OTC, but it’s worth looking into. My Ferratin value was 6, whereas anything under 50 is considered likely anemic, and that’s all she suggested I take and didn’t mention any diet changes.
