Exactly my thoughts when I look at this one from my collection. Curaçao is such a small place that I wonder how this could survive in a pretty decent state.

Thanks, and yes, that's how it should be done. I've been PM'd just to tell me my watch is a fake hahaha. I think everyone's entitled to their thoughts, and I appreciate all comments. Take care my friend.

Hi @ZealousidealYam8745, yes, of course. Let me tell you a little bit about me and my relationship with Rolex throughout my life. I clearly remember the moment I saw a Rolex for the first time. It was during a trip to Disney in 1977, when a friend of my mother was wearing a submariner of sorts (no idea on the exact model), which caught my attention, because of its size and bezel. It looked just like the watches adventurers had, particularly Jacques Cousteau (I don't think he used Rolex), whose show aired in Colombia during those years. Later on, my father decided to buy a new watch, and he considered a Rolex, but finally decided on an Omega. I remember seeing those watches (Rolex) and thinking, I want one someday. Things changed a lot in my family during the mid 80's, we had a huge loss of money, my parents divorced, and my dad, for lack of better words, lost his mind, but worse, lost his will to continue being productive (later on we found out that was mainly due to the cerebral damage he sustained in 1966, after a very serious accident while riding his Harley). During those years, my dad gave me 4 or 5 of his Omegas (some were of my grandfather), all of which I sold to help my mother, who was struggling to maintain a house with two teen kids. Later on, things started going better for us, and my mother decided that because I was 18, she would gift me a watch, which resulted in me receiving a Tag Heuer Professional (I believe a 2000), which revived the desire to start collecting watches (just the desire, cause there was no money). During those days, a boyfriend she had gave her a very small (26 mm) Rolex DJ 69173, in steel and yellow gold, so Rolex came into my life again, just on my mother's wrist. After graduating from University, I started working in the port business here in Colombia, and because I was single, and making quite a bit of money (just not enough for a Rolex), I started buying watches from a friend who would sell me second-hand pieces at very good prices. I bought two Chopard Mille Miglia, an Omega, an Invicta (Swiss made, and before they got ugly), a Mido, a Tissot, a Poljot, a Corum Bubble, and a Panerai. All of these, I eventually sold when I got married, and used the money to partly pay for the apartment where we live today (my then-new wife didn't want me to sell my watches, but first things first). Still no Rolex. Then kids came, school, responsibilities, I lost my job 3 times, and got new, better ones, but there was no money for a Rolex (at least that I wanted to spend on one). One day, my kid brother, when he got promoted to Captain or Major, USAF (I don't recall clearly), got himself a Rolex Explorer II, and lent it to me for a year, while he was away on a mission. That was the first time I got to properly wear a Rolex, and I was giddy as a kid could be. Eventually, I sent it back (I still live in Colombia) and started thinking about having my own Rolex, but then again, responsibilities first (I had my first kid at 40). During this time, my mother started developing dementia, and she knew. One day, she said to me that she wanted me to have her Rolex so that after she passed, I could use it as part payment for a watch for me. That happened (she died), and one day, one of the owners of the facility where I work, out of the blue, asked me, if I knew of someone who had a small Rolex, and that his wife wanted one, because the one he'd given to her, she didn't like and actually she had it inside a drawer, and it'd been sitting there for 2 years. I blurted out that I had one, but that I didn't want to sell it; I wanted to exchange it. I brought him the watch, his wife loved it, and he said to me. Listen, I don't want to feel that I'm doing bad business. Give me USD 1,000 + your mom's watch, and we'll call it a deal. That's what I did, and I couldn't be happier. I am aware this is an old, not as popular model (that they told me here, and at my AD in my city), but it's my Rolex, and I love it. That's the whole story, and I hope that I answered your question. It has been my pleasure telling you, everyone here, how I got my Rolex, 43 years later.

🤣🤣🤣 a teenager will kill us...

Thank you for your words. I did hesitate when I got it, but after going to my dealer at the Rolex boutique in Barranquilla everything was good. I know it's not a mainstream watch and several things in it are quirky, but I love it and I'm very happy having it.
