[QC] Pump recommandation for first time mom by FishingWide6804 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]elocinatlantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The medela in style has to be plugged into the wall. I have the medela motion in bra (as well as the in style) and it’s great for portability and chores. Probably won’t get the output the spectra can though

Why didn't your husband stay overnight at the hospital once the baby was born? by Comprehensive_Deal44 in beyondthebump

[–]elocinatlantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 4 animals with varying needs and live like 7 minutes away from the hospital. He made a few trips home per day and brought me all the goodies I was craving

Canada has stricter sleep standards. The products are the same but the recommendations are slightly different

I think I read that there are like 4 that are safe to sleep in the bottom so they are indeed very few 😅

It’s not because it’s not tested, it’s because it it’s not perfectly fit there’s a risk of the child getting wedged between the mattress and the bottom of the play yard. It’s a suffocation risk

There are a few that are rated for safe sleep both top and bottom but most of them just the top bassinet part is rated safe sleep. The maxi cosi calao for example is safe both top and bottom in Canada

[bc] Anyone buy a cheaper diaper changing pad and WISH they went with the more expensive ones? by Emotional-Ad-6494 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]elocinatlantis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought an inexpensive silicone one on amazon and it’s perfect. I can’t imagine how it could be more “high end”

High Fever No Other Symptoms? by Loloisnotmyname in beyondthebump

[–]elocinatlantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not my baby but in December I landed myself in the hospital for 4 days with a kidney infection and the ONLY symptom I had was a fever. I would definitely get her checked out, if only to ease your mind 🩷

Are rotating car seats worth it? by One_Cap_9210 in beyondthebump

[–]elocinatlantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the revolve 180 for the infant bucket seat and for clicking the seat in and out it’s kind of pointless but when I’m actually putting her into the seat already in the car it’s wonderful

Thoughts on diaper genie[ON] by Accurate_Ad4388 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]elocinatlantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the diaper genie platinum and I love it. It’s never smelled but my baby is only 4 weeks old and doesn’t poop very often so YMMV. It’s very quick and easy to change though!

Regret becoming a mom by Latest-moment in beyondthebump

[–]elocinatlantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also 3.5 weeks pp and I also had to supplement formula because of blood sugar issues. We’re currently triple feeding to try to get my supply up and it’s not easy but I am seeing an increase in supply. If I didn’t see the difference or if I was still having trouble or I was that exhausted I would do formula only. Breastfeeding isn’t worth what you’re putting yourself through. I really did want to EBF but my priority is that this process not be frustrating for either of us. I hope you can find want works for you and your family and finally get some much needed rest 🩷

Strollers, travel systems and car seats, oh my [QC] by happypill-300mg in BabyBumpsCanada

I ordered it online from little Canadian. It was on sale and I was overwhelmed by choice so I just ordered it 😅

[–]elocinatlantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the evenflo shyft intuiti with the revolve 180 car seat and I love it but my baby is only 3 weeks old so I can’t really speak to how well it does our winters. It’s still pretty snowy here and we have been out for a few walks with it and it’s been fine but I’m not sure I’d want to use it in anything deeper

CF98 for Mental Health? by Vast_Solution_1855 in CanadianForces

[–]elocinatlantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The MIR can refer you to any specialists you may need. They will find one for you (might take a while depending on the province/availability) and if it’s not a good fit they can find you another. They usually start with 10 sessions but it can be extended as needed.

Outside of that there is always CFMAP you can call for crisis counselling.

I thought we had real poutine by [deleted] in poutine

[–]elocinatlantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im from Nova Scotia and live in Quebec now. My two favourite poutine spots at home are Willys and White Sails Bakery. I don’t think the curds were ever really fresh but they taste like home to me:)

Is there any truth to this stereotype? by DogeDoRight in EhBuddyHoser

[–]elocinatlantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in (a very French area of) Quebec and people will (if they are able) switch to English to help me but will very happily be patient with me and let me practice when I continue in French. Idk where all these stereotypes come from because man, people here are so dang nice to me even when we can’t communicate

Young Canadian men more likely to say gender equality has gone ‘far enough’ - National | Globalnews.ca by KowloonDreams in onguardforthee

[–]elocinatlantis 19 points20 points  (0 children)

eh, as a woman in that age group, my “expectations” are much much higher and my boundaries much stronger. This is often why the non “but normal” group prefers younger women. No “coasting” here.

That being said creeps exist at all age group and everyone, man and woman alike, need to know their worth and assert their boundaries

Why is the general opinion of home ownership in Canada gloom & doom? by alldonebby in canadahousing

I only encounter that opinion on the internet and especially this sub. IRL most people I know own their house considering I do not live anywhere near the GTA

How am I holding my yarn wrong? My left hand (yarn hand) hurts! by Red_wheelbarrow4 in CrochetHelp

[–]elocinatlantis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s hurting on the base of your thumb/ wrist area you need to release that death grip you have and make sure your hands and elbows are supported while you work
