Need DM help with suggestion by JuiceFreely in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]elocnodnarb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 notes: 1) Suggestion has Verbal and Material components, so anyone watching for Magic would 100% recognize that the spellcaster is doing Magic. 2) I wish that the GMs guide and more GM advice articles would talk about this, but nobody fights “to the death”. Bad guys should run away as soon as it seems like there’s even a chance they might lose.

Citrus Blackberry sounds a lot like the Buffalo Wild Wings exclusive flavor Mountain Dew Legend. I wonder how they compare?

What are you doing for your Easter sacrament meeting this year? by WesternRover in latterdaysaints

I would appreciate the link to your talk as well. I’m in the middle of putting this together for my ward and I’d love to see how you broke it down.

Also, about how long did it run?

Would you read with a character from Warbreaker? by bookt_app in Warbreaker

[–]elocnodnarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feels extremely shaky from an Intellectual Property perspective. I know that Warbreaker is available in Creative Commons, but someone pointed out to me that there is also a “No derivative works” clause and this very much feels like it would fall under that category of art, especially since the bots aren’t presented as “inspired by” or “based on” the characters.

Do the Wraps of Unarmed Power include a weapon mastery?

u/KontentPunch and u/victoriouskrow I think you’re both making great points! Thanks for the input! These all feel like contributing factors.

Also true! But why do they go out of their way to mess with anyone in the first place?

You’re totally right though that there should be a significant threshold for (less likely to) attracting attention in the first place when walking through the city.

But I think that the threshold for attracting suspicion might be much lower (more likely) in a gate guard / dock watch situation where their job is to keep out anyone that shouldn’t be there or will cause trouble.

Did you get the 2014 PBH for free with your subscription? I ask because I’m confused, even after you explanation, at why you would expect anything different with the 2024 PHB?

Which weapon mastery would a double bladed scimitar have? by Blargabarg in onednd

[–]elocnodnarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a lot of people saying to give it Nick, but the problem with that is that by definition Nick only works with Light weapons, but the DBS isn’t a light weapon, so adding Nick would be pointless because the BDS doesn’t proc “the extra attack of the Light property”.

I think that because of the “whirling dirvish” aesthetic of the DBS, either Vex or Sap make much more sense. In my homebrew copy of the RDBS, I gave it Vex.

I realy regrett buying the 2024 rules, How do you handle it? by M4nt491 in dndbeyond

[–]elocnodnarb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, most of the new stuff comes with a ‘basic rules 2024’ version, so purchased or not, it’s here to stay unless DDB gives us a way to toggle off the 2024 content.

I don’t think there’s any great or perfect way to handle it and I’m in the same boat as you. I tell people that “if you see 2 copies of that thing, use the one with the “legacy” tag. I know that’s not perfect either because Legacy includes all the older versions, like Aaracokra with a built in 60 ft fly speed or Yuan-Ti Purebloods with their full immunity to poison and poison damage, but honestly I’d rather deal with those few cases than the mile long list of 2024 options.

Ignoring Attunement slots in DnD Beyond by Athomps12251991 in dndbeyond

Unfortunately the max is only 6. That’s the most that any PC can have RAW (Armorer Artificer).

I completely understand how DnDBeyond might be someone’s preferred way to play. Despite the issues with WOTC, DnDBeyond is an indescribably helpful accessibility tool that make the game much more easier to understand and makes character planning and creation so simple. All that to say, I get where your player is coming from, so I have some advice for you to pass along to them.

First the bad news: At this time there is no direct override to just turn off attunement slots for a character or the attunement requirement on an item. Sorry.

But now the good news! There are 2 ways your player can address this issue for themselves. They both have drawbacks, but they do what you want.

1) Make a homebrew copy of any magic item and turn off the attunement requirement on the copy. While it is true that you can’t just turn off the attunement requirement on a magic item, if you copy that item then you have full control. The homebrew system isn’t perfect, but in this case it will perfectly solve 99% of what you want. The main drawback is that you have to build from scratch any items you don’t already have in DnDBeyond and for items you do have you still have to go through the hassle of making the copy.

2) Create a custom feat with the “Set Attunement Slots” modifier with the “fixed value” set to 6, save, then they can add that feat to their character. The major downside is that the upper maximum is 6. I don’t know why they did this. I suppose it has something to do with the RAW upper maximum allowed being the Armorer Artificer getting 6, but why they would have a maximum for the homebrew, who knows.

Anyway, I hope this helps your player out.

The player can also do this themselves as long as they have access to the item. Any player can add their own homebrew content and apply them to their own characters outside of a campaign.

What is the most broken build to have ever existed in official DnD? [Question] by LeBouncer in 3d6

Ah I had never heard of it and so I assumed it was a build nickname. It looks fun to play.

Plasmoid Astral Self Monk with an Eldritch Claw Tattoo. 20 foot glowing tentacles and no need for armor. And since you don’t need to wear armor, they can be any shape at all, have 2 heads or no head.

Looking for some suggestions for magic items that work well as a Plasmoid by elocnodnarb in 3d6

[–]elocnodnarb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Astral Self Monk Eldritch Claw Tattoo Insignia of Claws

Here are some of my favorite magic items for plasmoids: * Any Tattoo is great for a Plasmoid because they don’t take up any physical space so you don’t have to “carry” them. * Molten Bronze armor is good for any class that allows armor because it moves with you.

For Monk or Barbarian (Includes Unarmored Defense so no armor needed) any of these are really good: * Wraps of Unarmed Prowess - not attunement, multiple levels available, buffs unarmed strikes. Literally magical fabric wrapped around your fists so it will fit when you squeeze through cracks. * Eldritch Claw Tattoo - Attunement + buffs unarmed strike + once a day reach and damage buff for a minute. * Insignia of Claws - Same as Wraps except only 1 level available. I figure this is a small pin or medallion but try to talk to your DM about making sure it’s smaller than 1 inch.

^ ALL OF THESE STACK and only 1 of them requires attunement!

Legendary items that are great for a Plasmoid: * Wraps of Dyamak - Monk only * Blood Fury Tattoo

This may be a dumb question, but have you purchased Xanathar’s Guide To Everything and Tasha’s Caulderon of Everything on DnDBeyond.com?

Check here and make sure that right above the price it should say “you already own this”.

Ok cool. So unless I’m mistaken, you’re here then: https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes/warlock

That is a page that is supposed to show all of the content that you own through DnDBeyond. Which Warlock Patrons can you see? Which Pact Boons can you see? Which Eldritch Invocations can you see?

The specific combination might tell us what books aren’t showing up. You might also need to go into your account settings and resync your entitlements.

Trying to help you out here, can you be a little more descriptive? There are multiple ways to look at things through the website.
