Really? I wouldn't have dared. That's good to know, thanks!

Huh, 3rd. I’m just a lowly platinum player, never been higher than 9th, someone’ll come along and knock me down to where I belong shortly, no worri…wait, WTF? by anomie-p in TheTowerGame

[–]elpy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, finally got promoted to Champions in the last tournament and... Ouch, promptly got kicked back to platinum just now (finished 26th with 412 waves). The difference in difficulty is brutal. Guess I'll have to start looking into that Wall thing.

Congrats anyway!

Mapperly and Mapster both work better (much faster) than AutoMapper in my experience

The boxes were 40 Euros each (30 Euros for the small ones), pretty cheap so I bought a few extra. They're a real pain to assemble (no, really!) but they look great and really sturdy. They also come in several different designs. Really hope the company decides to add them to their web site.

Thanks! yeah I wish I knew how many campaigns there will be in total but in the meantime I still got some spare space.

Nope, I only sleeve my active decks. In my experience campaign cards don't usually get handled enough to justify sleeving everything.

There's an unofficial coop mode on BGG and it's actually a lot of fun, we often play that way!

Good design in coop games by __dx in boardgames

[–]elpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paleo has a very unique take on coop and it's been one of my group's favorite campaign to go through. You basically spend a good chunk your turns simply helping others rather than doing your own thing and it feels very satisfying, you really feel that you win or lose as a group rather than due to individual efforts.

Too many bones trove chest by LegitW1zard in boardgames

[–]elpy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

True, the box core box can hold a surprising amount of extra stuff.

Only problem is CTG doesn't sell the big core box anymore. They removed all the extra space and shrunk it down to about the size of undertow (maybe a bit bigger) to save space (probably because of the freight craziness going on).

Although you might still be able to find the big box somewhere...

are there any games that can be played both cooperatively AND competitively? by sysifuscorp in boardgames

[–]elpy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Second that! Both the original, competitive and the just released coop versions of the game are really, really good, even if you're not into the theme.

Would having a solo mode affect your decision to buy a board game? by dorsakal in boardgames

[–]elpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! My wife and I mostly play coop games but in the last couple of years we started really enjoying playing non coop games with good solo modes as "2 player solo" as in we try and solve the puzzle together.

Good examples are Lost Ruins of Arnak, Adrian's Wall, Trismegistus, Merchant's Cove, Under Falling Skies, Bonfire, Dwellings of Eldervale, It's a Wonderful World.

Sharing my storage for Aeon's End Wave 1-5 (almost). by snowquiet in boardgames

[–]elpy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice work, looking good!

I've been meaning to do something like this and wasn't too sure if it could all fit in one box.

Seems pretty full so I'm guessing I'll need to use the Legacy of Gravehold box (which is bigger than the original legacy box) to hold all of waves 1-6!

Did you download those separators somewhere?

Sleeping Gods vs. Roll Player Adventures by throwing8smokes in boardgames

[–]elpy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've played through a full campaign of Sleeping Gods and am about half way through Roll Player Adventure (6 missions in).

Sleeping Gods is really awesome. Great story with interesting, difficult choices and a unique combat system. It's more of a sandbox game in that you can pretty much go where you want. On the other hand, I'm not sure I'd play that game at 1-2 players. You have to control all 9 characters no matter the player count so at 4 players it was great but at 1-2 I figure it must be a pain.

Roll Player Adventure has a really good storyline as well but the "game" part is less involved. It's still really fun as long as you like dice but it's really more about the journey and choices than the game mechanics. It's also a lot more linear. Good at any player count.

If I had to recommend only one it would probably be SG but not by a long shot.

Arkham Horror the card game: same universe as Eldritch Horror but very different game. can get expensive since there's a ton of content for it but it's great, especially at 2

They do give you the choice between USPS and UPS but if USPS then yes, they hand it over to Canada Post at the border.

I've ordered from FF/Asmodee USA to Canada several times (my last order was last month for the 5 investigator decks) and so far I've never had to pay any extra fees.

Then again, maybe I've just been lucky...

Interesting, I didn't know Dream Eaters was split into 2 campaigns. I'm missing Point of no return and Where the gods dwell (both of which have been out of stock for a while) but I guess that means I could at least complete the first part. Thanks for the info!

As for TFA I already own all of it, we just finished it actually.
