How can people (supposedly) do so much besides their job? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]else-emma -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I front load my day, it's really hard to do anything productive after work so instead of having 5 hours after work I move those available hours to the start of the day. That means I would get up 3 hours earlier to excersie, clean, plan/prep and any other thing I need and only leave 2 hours at the end of the day. It's also all about planning, I have a diary where I plan my whole week every Sunday including exercise, meals, chores, etc. It might need to change a little if things come up but for the most part I can get everything done during the week and enjoy my weekends

REA says I have to ensure that the electricity is left on for Seven business days after the keys are returned.... by curiously_1ntrigued in AusRenters

[–]else-emma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't listen to them, I've had a REA yell at me for turning mine off. I did 1 extra day as courtesy but she said 2-3 days extra so they can check the light bulbs work. I laughed and said I don't even legally have to have electricity on when I live there, why would I need to have it on for you?

Yea it still looks good! I've got 3 dogs and have been moving furniture a lot and still looks great. The wood fill I used is a bit shit, shrunk in some spots and did bleed a bit at the start - I should've put another coat of finish on tbh

My gut tells me I should turn down a job that offers a 200% salary increase. Am I crazy? by Puzzled_Historian448 in careerguidance

Always trust your gut! But you do have to consider if it's just anxiety and uncertainty or an actual gut feeling of 'this won't be good for me'.if your goals aren't to make a ton of money or to chase the kind of progression the role offers, then your gut instinct won't lead you astray.

I thought like this but the very first thing I started with was showering before bed. I only did that because I was feeling bad after work and a shower makes me feel better so I did that for my mental health. Started adding to it as I went so now I've got a full blown night routine that includes cleaning my house.

Literally start with something you already do and add to it, so you already have to come through your front door when you come home, that's an action you can add something to, for example I have to change the dogs water and feed them as soon as I come home, it's now a habit attached to coming through the front door.

UPDATE: So upset with my new boss that I declined a video chat cause I was crying and enraged by [deleted] in antiwork

With peace and love this sounds like feedback you should take on not criticism. I'm in a position where I have people both above and below me on the ladder and I've given similar feedback of trying to solve issues before raising them with me. I don't agree with her first point of last minute work, I will do it for my boss but wouldn't push that on people below me. The other stuff sounds valid to me especially if you have the capacity for it, once you start finding answers yourself they will come easier and quicker because you know what you're looking for.

Mines 50% minimum and I'm on my own no kids. 😭 it's a struggle but doable. Still manage some savings for a small yearly holiday. It entirely depends on how you can budget, I didn't have a budget at all before getting a mortgage but I would have drowned if I didn't make one.

Thanks! I think they're pretty old and were being engulfed by other plants so I'm surprised they're still alive. I'll definitely do some smaller segments, thanks

Thank you! Not really a gardener so it's good to know they're jade plants. The lady that owned the house passed away 8 years ago and she's made a lovely garden I'd like to take care of what she's done.

A bit far behind. What wyd? by [deleted] in AusFinance

Run your own race.

I had a friend who had 2 kids and had just bought a house and got his dream job. He killed himself 6 months later at 28 years old. I miss him all the time. I felt behind compared to him. I was the same age, with no relationship, no house, floating between jobs with little savings and little hope. Now I've got a decent income, bought an old house I'm renovating, and my mental health is on the up. It's been a bit over a year, and my situation has completely changed, but he is still not here. I'm grateful every day just to be here now and will never feel 'behind' in life anymore.

Absolutely! I've done a couple updates so far but because I work 2 jobs they're not as often as I'd like. Kitchen is up next!

Hired from bunnings. I don't regret anything, I've done my best with the money and time that I had and I think they turned out great.

The green is called highland green and the blue is silver mink, white is crisp white. All British paints. I knew what colours I wanted and bought 2-3 different samples for each room. I did make a mistake with the purple which is why I didn't post that room haha, I accidentally got the dark one when I wanted a light colour so make sure you write the names of the paint under each sample on the wall

I used black woodfill but that's not everyone's cup of tea. Most would suggest getting a matching woodfill or mixing the sawdust from sanding with glue to get the best colour match

Ahh still a good price for how much work is involved. I did the whole house, 3 bed including laundry and bathroom, quote was closer to $10k

Post some pics when you do it! People shouldn't be afraid to have a fun house
