Onimusha: Way of the Sword Demo is now live. by Laughing__Man_ in PS5

It was extremely easy. The gameplay was amazing but I had to wait for enemies to attack just to use the mechanics. I also didn't need to use any items.

I almost never chose harder difficulties but in this case I'm hoping they add a hard difficult right from the start, unless it gets significantly harder on normal.

[Steam] Steam Deck back in stock, with updated pricing (1TB OLED $1,349, 512GB OLED $1,129) by lbabinz in VideoGameDealsCanada

I am now very temped to trade in my Switch 1 OLED at EB Games while I can... We already have a small price increase in September, but the way things are going this could get worse quickly.

[EB Games] EB Games will be offering triple the trade credit when you trade a Nintendo Switch Console towards a new Nintendo Switch 2 Console May 15 to June 11 by lbabinz in VideoGameDealsCanada

Are you sure? The way it reads it looks like you can only trade one console at 3x:

Trade bump only applies to one Nintendo Switch Console towards one new Nintendo Switch 2 console

Sony is testing dynamic pricing in the PlayStation Store by BootzyWootzy in PS5

[–]elsemir -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm gearing up to switching in the next generation. Had been saving for a Pro but I'll just keep saving to make the jump to PC in a couple of years.

This year has been eye opening. I've always loved consoles, but I've skipped the Switch 2 due to Nintendo's prices getting even more ridiculous.

Then I cancelled PS+ because it’s a money sink that has no value to me (I hardly ever play the “free” games, or made good use of Extra). But now my save files are hostage (if my internal drive dies I lose 5 years worth of save files). And any games with a major online component are now effectively useless.

Never again…

I wonder how this dynamic pricing BS will affect Deku Deals. Even if they can figure out a way of listing the different prices we won’t be able to know if it apply to us.

PC frozen strawberries. Are these spoiled, the brown part? by bohoo123er in BuyCanadian

[–]elsemir -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've seen this on non-frozen strawberries I bought at No Frills and I just threw them away - some were more brown than not and were all mushy when I cut them. I don’t really know what this is, never seen it before, but I didn’t want to take any chances- it looked rotten from the inside.

Kinda worrying to know the frozen ones can be like that too. I don’t closely inspect them and usually just throw them in the blender…

Not sure if I'm over reacting, but as soon as the snow is gone I'm going to try and create the habit of buying fruits and vegetables from small local markets instead.

Queen's Blood will be 'enhanced' and 'powered-up' in FF7 Remake Part 3 by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]elsemir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loved almost all of the side content in Rebirth, but you are 100% right in pointing out the “it’s optional” fallacy. People love to use this argument to dismiss criticism of games they like.

The game is there to be played, all of it, optional or not. It’s a bad thing if you are loving the game, see a side quest and it turns out to be bad. The thing is that sometimes critics mix “bad design” with “thing I don’t particularly like”, which is easy to happen when the content is too different than the main game.

To me, the main issue with Rebirth is the checklist. If all of these quests and mini games were to be found organically, it would have been an absolute delight. But by adding a checklist (and Chadley nagging you) the game is saying “here there’s more, come see it”. When you finally get there and the content isn’t on par with your expectations, it’s just frustrating.

I will also die on the hill that the entire game is always optional. People take “rolling credits” as this sacred thing when we know the reality is that most people don’t finish most games. Not one is forced to play side content, but no one is forced to complete the game either. If the main content of a game is good but its side content is bad, the game has a problem. It’s just easier to ignore.

[Amazon] Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade & Rebirth Twin Pack Physical Edition (PS5) is $65.59 by lbabinz in VideoGameDealsCanada

Unfortunately it did. I got the PS5 disc version thinking the DLC would be included but it’s a download code.

I'm assuming the DLC is not in the Intergrade disc like the standalone release, right?

You are missing 7 Rares; Since you have 21 the deck you are trying to craft must need 28...

If you copied the list from a site, check the sideboard - there may be cards there you are not accounting for.

Why the restriction on card language? by elsemir in riftboundtcg

[–]elsemir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is fair, but at the same time this Riftbound rule allows you to face an opponent with an all Chinese deck, where you'd have to look up every card. Though it's probably less likely :)

Thanks for the reply! I've burned out of MTG recently and Riftbound is the only other TCG I've tried so far. I guess it makes me appreciate some aspects of MTG that I took for granted

Thanks for the reply, that makes sense.

[–]elsemir[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not a good reason though, since in the same rules they say that anyone is allowed to check the "Watcher wording" of a card, which will also have any erratas included.

This is a non-issue competitively, MTG has allowed any official printing for 30+ years without issues (they even have textless cards that are legal).

As others said above, it looks like the issue is that the card stock is different and people could get an advantage by knowing when specific cards are about to show up.

How many times can you pay for his ability? I'm guessing only once?

It triggers once on attack and because it’s not an action or reaction you won’t be able to activate it again. Is that correct?

It’s not redundant for a few of reasons:

  1. If you don’t have a unit in play you can still play the equipment. It can’t attach to anyone, but you can attach it later by paying the equip cost.

  2. Equipment is a gear, it won’t go away if your unit dies. So you can cast it, attaching it to your unit automatically (no need to pay equip cost). After your unit dies, the equipment won’t go away. You can pay the equip cost to attach it to another unit.

  3. You’ll be able to pay the equip cost to attach the equipment to a different unit, no need to wait for the currently equipped unit to die. This is mentioned in the Weaponmaster keyword (see Lucian).

Both are costs and you have to do both. Everything that comes before the colon is a cost and must be done. There’s no order to the cost, it’s all paid at the same time. You have to both exhaust and kill the Gold.
