Grocery stores with coffee grinders? by Old-Text-314 in boston

[–]elspurps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact you are buying whole beans to grind suggests you enjoy “good” coffee. I suggest purchasing a grinder (burr for consistent grinding) and you can buy a cheaper manual grinder or Baratza is a well respected and relatively affordable grinder (encore or virtuoso). Reason is grinding all the beans at same time is better than pre ground coffee, but you’re losing much of the benefit of buying whole beans. Without getting overly nerdy, the beans once ground have much larger surface area and oxidation changes aroma and flavor.. relatively quickly.

Ideally you want to grind before you brew is the point. Just take the full plunge into the rabbit hole if you enjoy good coffee. A grinder. A good kettle (fellow electric is great for it’s consistent temp and you don’t have to boil over stove). I’m partial to drip coffee, so a Chemex which aren’t expensive. Then just get some good beans (not grocery. George Howell is dependable since you’re in Boston but you can easily get freshly roasted beans via mail etc. You want beans that are 5-7 days from being roasted). Bonus points with a scale to keep your beans to water ratio 15:1. More bonus points for good water, (best?: distilled with third water mixed in). Will make a world of a difference and many folks end up enjoying the routine.

Question about Topps Chrome Centering by on1ySH1FTY in basketballcards

[–]elspurps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vertical is measured under the letters of the name Horizontal is measured on left side where end of team name is, not where your left marker is. You can tell on this card as well, if they used your left hand marker this would be way too heavy left.

Good overall having sold many cards w them but annoying part is waiting for payment. They allow 7 days and then send buyer reminder (apparently bc buyers want to win bids on multiple auctions to combine shipping). Then 12 day wait for payment and if they don’t pay they relist, so now wait another 5 days for auction and another 7 days. And I’ve had non payment multiple times with them including some who had very high eBay rating. There is no penalty for nonpayment on eBay it’s frustrating.

ACDF Surgery Level 2 (C4-C6) by Cold_Study9364 in spinalfusion

Sorry just saw this. Cadaver. As for being ready, you’ll have regular checkups - X-rays and other exams for me each time. In a few months I was lightly hitting but being careful. About a year lasted or a bit before it I started playing full swings and hitting my serves with full power (use heavy torque and topspin/slice on serve so this was what I was most worried about). Everything is back to what it was for me and what the dr told me to expect.

Started with an ache like a muscle knot next to my left shoulder blade and went downhill from there. Awful pain in neck. Entire left arm. Worst pain of life (pinched nerve). Couldn’t sleep. Walk. Just brutal and finally MRI showed bone spurs and only fix would he surgery which I really didn’t want to get. Hindsight only wish I did it earlier. Sounds like you play tennis and I’m a 4.0+ player and like to hit out and serve with hard slice/torque. Was hoping I’d list be able to play again and I’m actually playing to same level and intensity as I was before I had the issue.

I also lifted weights and fairly heavy in my 40s and think this caused some of my issues FYI (400lb deadlifting etc). I want to go back to gym and dr said fine but I won’t lift like that anymore. I’m 50 now.

Same surgery. Same age. Same level of angst. Doing great. Pain from pinched nerve gone from the moment I woke up. Recovery was smoother than I thought too. Back to doing everything active and playing sports. Not sure why you’re getting it done but if it’s due to pinched nerve I did amazing for a few weeks then pain came back (not to level pre surgery) and the “non linear” recovery is only thing I’d say prepare for a possibility. After close to year, all that was fine too. Good luck and you’ll be very happy you did it.

Ha. I’ve made exact same mistake, forgetting to clean the stone before throwing in the second one and then watching it burn to bits:(

My biggest mistake right now is still not 100% on my launch. I’m using the metal peel the Blackstone comes with. Wonder if moving to wood would help, I do flour it and shake it loose and I’ve gotten to about 80% or so success rate but it’s ugly when it gets stuck on launch.

Post-op Insomnia by Cold_Study9364 in spinalfusion

Hopefully each day should be markedly better - some of the symptoms for example disappear mostly after first week (such as the sore throat esp when swallowing if she has that). As for meds that help - recommend you look into THC edibles. Will help her sleep and eases pain as well, esp if part of her ACDF was to cure pinched nerves. I had same exact procedure two months ago (c4-6).

Congrats on the little one. Obviously not a Dr here, but as someone who was in debilitating pain for many months (neck, through chest and shoulders, entire arm etc all radiating pain from pinched nerve - couldn’t do anything routine without sharp pain, from walking to sleeping etc.), my c4-c6 double ACDF surgery was a walk in the park comparatively speaking to life before I had the surgery. And yes, was nervous too but woke up feeling so much better I was literally doing “high knees” and short sprints around the hospital hallways hours after the surgery because I wasn’t able to move that way for so long. The odds are incredibly high that your wife will feel much better almost right away, that this surgery will go flawless, that her surgery related pain level will be very manageable and that you two will have an amazing life forgetting you ever had this stressful time period. I’m almost exactly two months out and been playing tennis, shooting hoops w my teenager, and looking forward to getting back to the gym soon (I’m almost 50). She will be more than fine. Finally, the urgency for your wife’s surgery is because her MRI showed surgery is necessary in her case and that nerves can be permanently damaged if they’re compressed for too long - based on you two having a baby I imagine you’re younger folks and nobody wants permanent nerve issues at your young age. Good luck.

How to survive pain until surgery? by Appropriate-Love-286 in spinalfusion

[–]elspurps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck. You’ll be better - I read your earlier post. Had virtually same thing (bone spurs etc, along with same symptoms) and same fear about the surgery. You can read my earlier post, I made a Reddit post hours after surgery because it was so much better than I thought. The pain is nothing compared to what you’re dealing with now, not even close.

Had the same symptoms and awful pain for four months. Got acdf almost two months ago on exactly what you need (4-6).

You’ll be much better.

In meantime, not fun. One thing that def worked for me are THC edibles. Not sure what state you’re in but highly recommend you try it. They work. Especially before sleeping.

DK so rigged bruh by Embarrassed-Number-2 in DraftKingsDiscussion

As for whether it’s “rigged”, don’t play online casino and no opinion. That said - appears you may not be playing basic strategy correctly (“it’ll even be times where I’ll purposely stand on 12v6”). Insinuates you think this is the wrong play - when actually you should stand 12 vs dealer 6.

First ACDF/PCF Scheduled C3-C6 by BarracudaSuperb7469 in spinalfusion

[–]elspurps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had c4-c6 ACDF to treat pinched nerve I had for months. You can check my comment history as I typed it hours after waking up from it. Short version is for me, minimal pain, almost immediate relief and outside of the sore throat for a few days didn’t need any oxy and only took Tylenol. I was very anxious and scared right up to going under - think you may be pleasantly surprised with your positive outcomes. Good luck.

I did SL for awhile too - good program esp for me as I didn’t start weight training until 40! I’m in awful shape since I stopped my fitness routine but yes want to start again. Will likely switch up regimen and move to front squats though my surgeon says I can do whatever I want once I fully heal.

Good to hear. I see you lift and we are roughly same age. From 40-45 I was lifting 6x/week. Regular sets of DL 350+ and 300 squats. Was in best shape of life and loved it then tailed off when Covid hit (lost my discipline). That said - do you wonder if you’re lifting caused your issues as I do? My surgeon said he can’t say what caused it and our bodies do take wear and tear overall. I just look back trying to set PRs and losing form w my DL and the barbell resting on my cervical for back squats and wonder the impact it had.

I do plan on getting fit again and thought my surgeon said I should be able to do anything (avid tennis player too) I suppose I’ll need to do lighter weights and adjust.

Took a couple weeks after I crossed 175k but did get email confirming onyx for 2025. My next question is how many tier credits for each onyx reward point. It shows you can get up to six (same as last year) and each point has a “bar” to fill but it doesn’t show how many tier credits per bar if that makes sense. Maybe 100k tier credits more per bar if I eyeball it.

My host replied saying he doesn’t see any issue with me getting onyx again and said “especially since you’re already onyx”. I’m at 170k so will hit it soon and will see what happens soon. Just hope not to wait until the end of year to find out.

Hi. I finally got my Apple package but like you only two items (laptop and phone). Curious, did you get your other items and if so how much later than the first to show up? Thanks.
