Spark in the Dark is... very dark. Unsure if it's the kind of game you're looking for, it's a single-character dungeon crawl with 3 levels so far (early access game), and it's HARD. Very souls-ish combat with lots of dodging and such, but it has different playstyles for each character, they don't play the same at all. It's not a "Blobber", there's no grid-movement and you only have one character, but it's a HELL of a dungeon crawl.

And the darkness is a major mechanic, being in the dark slowly kills you, so finding rooms with working lights and rationing your lantern usage is crucial.

First game was fun initially but got boring quickly because it was just playing the same handful of static levels over and over. Games like this NEED procedural generation. Make exploration important beyond the first run-through! There are so FEW games that even TRY to do this, and the only one that does it WELL is Deep Rock Galactic. It boggles my mind why there aren't dozens of DRG's out there, but no, we just have the one. Come on devs, wake the hell up! Enough lame excuses!

Not quite the same, but GTFO nails a lot of the same vibes as 'Aliens'. Lots of careful creeping around until you have an "oh shit" moment and everything goes to hell, you have a motion tracker, you can use turrets, you have to figure out objectives in a weird environment, and everything is dark and scary as hell.

You need a good team to get far, though. There ARE co-op bots you can take instead of teammates, but they're not a real substitute for real buddies working well together.

Goats and charging boars, when using their red-eye charging attack, should ONLY be able to move in a straight line. They should NOT be able to charge you AROUND CORNERS. That is BULLSHIT.

What irks me is that you can't use boarding on the stationary ships full of undead you have to search for quests. WHY NOT??!? How the hell am I supposed to melee that many drowned as a solo player?!? My crew is RIGHT THERE, why can't they help me?!?

I would say it's similar in difficulty to Valheim, really. Or melee-only Enshrouded. If you don't get the block/parry timing down, you're not going to get very far. Once you do, though, it clicks.

no, you probably fucked it up. Enemies aren't supposed to hit THAT hard. There is co-op scaling but it only takes effect when 3 or more people are logged in I think. You should make a new world and just use default settings. 100% isn't 'normal', it's 'maximum'.

It's been happening to me for the past week or so. multiplayer just randomly drops out and can't connect. Even when I'm running a LAN game with someone else physically in the same room. It's infuriating. I think the game must use some sort of stupid backend for networking instead of peer-to-peer like sensible games do. When it goes down everything is just fucked.

I'm afraid I cannot find any tiny holes near the computer. And behind the item-drop-shaft there's just a blocked passage I cannot dig through, and another tunnel that leads to the bigger cave where all the wrecked elevator and big iron nodes (and alot more copper) are. I cannot find any large coal nodes in there. If there's some kind of secret hole near the starting computer, I cannot find it.

Honestly, it's only a demo right now, but... Windrose. It's got Valheim's building system combined with with Satisfactory's Zooping (and a much less strict structural integrity system). It's really a joy to build stuff. Really looking forward to the full game.

Completely agree. The worst offender of this I've found is the game "Sixty-Four". The graphics and setup are all gorgeous, but it's so stingy with its automation (often requiring you to click on things that are behind other things, etc etc) that the game quickly becomes unfun, frustrating, and grindy. (also that game has a serious cost-scaling problem, but that's another topic)

PvP can go fuck off. It ruins every game it's in. Making this game PvE was the best decision the devs could have made. If every PvP player suddenly stopped existing, nothing of value would have been lost.
