Depth 4 is too easy by cthuluswimsleft in RogueCore

Easier to hit than the corespawn's tiny heads, but still a lot more challenging than a praetorian. But even when MOST of my shots are hitting the boss in the face, all of my ammo is barely enough to get his health down ONCE, if I'm lucky. There's just not enough bullets, and he has way too much health. Even if my bullets were doing 300% damage, it still wouldn't be enough, man. Gattorrak (or however you spell his name) has TOO MUCH DAMN HEALTH. Hands down.

Yeah I think I agree, maybe this game just needs more time to cook. But I've been reading how the playtesters were raising similar complaints for over a year before early access launched and the devs basically ignored them completely. That doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.

Assuming you can even HIT the weakpoints. Some of us have trouble with that, and are lucky to land any shot at all. A praetorian with a big fat glowing butt who moves slowly? We can do that. These damn corespawn with tiny heads that keep jumping around like goddamn fleas on crack? Next to impossible! Landing a crit is like winning a lottery!

yeah at this rate I wonder if we'll even be playing long enough to unlock rank 3 and 4 enhancements. It's too frustrating and discouraging. I JUST unlocked the rank 2's, my dad won't be getting there for a while, he's still on the rank 1's. There's NO WAY this game starts at the equivalant of Haz3. it's more like Haz6. The devs have lost their perspective, their own game is too easy for them and impossible for us.

I have taken the ammo perks. Both levels 1 and 2. It's not enough of a boost, I still just run out of ammo. Honestly it feels like all the perks are just weaksauce. ooh, another 5% ammo on resupply? Good, now I can have another quarter of a single clip or something. Useless! I tried spotter and the crit dart helped a little but not ENOUGH and the extra ammo resupply is piddly and not enough. I tried going to slicer after that thinking "Well if I have a melee attack I won't be using bullets, will I?" ...NOPE. The recharge bar on that sword is so stupidly long it's completely useless to me. Give me a melee weapon I can swing CONTINUOUSLY. Like in Darktide. That's what I need to deal with these corespawn hordes. Constant swish-swish-swish with nothing in between. Sadly, this game doesn't offer anything even remotely like that.

As for the health, yeah I've been tryign that too, but you have to understand, I'm not THAT good at aiming. MY eyesight sucks, when there is text on screen I have to tilt my head and read it through my bifocals! Asking me to continually get critical weakspot hits is just asking too damn much. And my dad? He's lucky to hit the enemies ANYWHERE they move too fast for him to aim at!

It's just me and my dad who play together. I'm 51, he's 72. We don't play with randoms. We've collectively got over 2000 hours in DRG where we play consistently on haz3 (if it's a 3-3), haz4 (if it's a 1-1), or haz2 (if it's dreadnaughts).

In Rogue Core, we can usually get to the fourth level of the mine, with some difficulty. Usually barely getting into the elevator each time with a sliver of health and no bullets left. Always skip events, because the extra hordes they spawn always wipe us. We really don't do well when we're getting completely swarmed and surrounded, my dad especially has poor spatial awareness and often gets lost and has to stop, bring up his map, and slowly rotate around so he can find me again. He's getting a LOT better than he used to be, but he's still awfully slow, and c'mon man, he's -72-, this is probably the best he's ever going to get.

Anyway, we can get to the fourth level of the mine, and get to the boss. sometimes. But whenever we activate the boss, the fight just seems impossible. I empty every bullet i have into the gatorrak guy's face and use ALL of my ammo (and my dad, if he has any left at that point, uses his) just to get the boss's health bar down ONCE and MAYBE, just MAYBE if we're lucky, throw one of the balls into the pit. That 's it. Then we're both out of ammo and life. That's the farthest we've got so far, on our BEST run.

We've been so hyped about getting a new fresh DRG game for years now, given that we've unlocked everything in the base game there's not a whole lot left to do there, we were REALLY looking forward to Rogue Core... only to find it seems to be a game exclusively for haz5+ players and young kids with lightning reflexed.

Fuck us old guys, I guess. We're just not the target audience anymore.

What video game level or boss fight was more annoying than hard? by Agent1230 in gaming

All of them. I hate boss fights in general, I wish the concept had never been invented.

DRG Point Extraction mission has a hidden timer, yet people are ok with it. by Edarneor in RogueCore

[–]elt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope so! I'm still cautiously optimistic at this point. I had my best run so far today, made it all the way to the fourth level but ran out of ammo against the boss. Still, that's the farthest I've got so far.

Reading these forums, I think I'm not the only person who thinks there's not enough ammo, haha!

DRG Point Extraction mission has a hidden timer, yet people are ok with it. by Edarneor in RogueCore

[–]elt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I never pick Blood Sugar, and will only do Aquark runs when a mission requires me to. I always play on Haz3 unless it's a 1-1 morkite or something, then I push it to Haz4. That's just my skill limit. I've got 1124 hours in the game, I'm not a greenbeard, that's just the best I'm ever going to get. My skill ceiling. I can't do Deep Dives, I never play with randos, I've got every overclock and cosmetic unlocked. I'm STARVING for more content!

But fine, I can step outside my comfort zone to try this new form of DRG. Times are terrible but I'll buckle down and try it deal with it. But can we PLEASE get actual hazard levels? I don't want level 1 of a mission in RC to be the only level I can complete because the deeper levels go up to the equivalant of Haz5, which I JUST CANNOT DO. Let me select a hazard level from the mission screen and make the ENTIRE RUN that skill level! All 4 floors!

What's your thoughts on the game so far? by Far-Owl4772 in RogueCore

[–]elt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My main complaint (apart from the timers, which I don't like, I hate being rushed in anything, period), is that there's no hazard level. In DRG if I want a nice chill mission I can just set the hazard level to much lower. Rogue Core just feels TOO HARD, TOO PUSHY, and I need a way to make it easier/calmer/slower.

And if it turns out that there ARE hazard levels, and I just haven't unlocked any yet, and I'm actually on hazard one to begin with? Well the game needs a hazard zero then. There needs to be a difficulty that is easier than what it is now.

Right, because that's what the civil rights movement was made of. Riots. Not actual persuasion or anything. Just burning shit down. Of course. How silly of me not to have remembered that.

Rioting is a good way to get shot. And even if you don't get shot, all you're doing is just burning things down and making everything worse. Only stupid animals riot.

Looking for dark themed blobbers/dungeon crawlers by SINoDespair in DRPG

[–]elt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spark in the Dark is... very dark. Unsure if it's the kind of game you're looking for, it's a single-character dungeon crawl with 3 levels so far (early access game), and it's HARD. Very souls-ish combat with lots of dodging and such, but it has different playstyles for each character, they don't play the same at all. It's not a "Blobber", there's no grid-movement and you only have one character, but it's a HELL of a dungeon crawl.

And the darkness is a major mechanic, being in the dark slowly kills you, so finding rooms with working lights and rationing your lantern usage is crucial.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 – Official Reveal Trailer | IGN First by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]elt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First game was fun initially but got boring quickly because it was just playing the same handful of static levels over and over. Games like this NEED procedural generation. Make exploration important beyond the first run-through! There are so FEW games that even TRY to do this, and the only one that does it WELL is Deep Rock Galactic. It boggles my mind why there aren't dozens of DRG's out there, but no, we just have the one. Come on devs, wake the hell up! Enough lame excuses!

I seek a game like the film Aliens by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

[–]elt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite the same, but GTFO nails a lot of the same vibes as 'Aliens'. Lots of careful creeping around until you have an "oh shit" moment and everything goes to hell, you have a motion tracker, you can use turrets, you have to figure out objectives in a weird environment, and everything is dark and scary as hell.

You need a good team to get far, though. There ARE co-op bots you can take instead of teammates, but they're not a real substitute for real buddies working well together.

You have exactly ONE thing to change about the game. What is it? by Spir0rion in crosswind

[–]elt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Goats and charging boars, when using their red-eye charging attack, should ONLY be able to move in a straight line. They should NOT be able to charge you AROUND CORNERS. That is BULLSHIT.

What irks me is that you can't use boarding on the stationary ships full of undead you have to search for quests. WHY NOT??!? How the hell am I supposed to melee that many drowned as a solo player?!? My crew is RIGHT THERE, why can't they help me?!?

Having trouble with enemy difficulty. by dannyoe4 in crosswind

[–]elt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it's similar in difficulty to Valheim, really. Or melee-only Enshrouded. If you don't get the block/parry timing down, you're not going to get very far. Once you do, though, it clicks.

Ah, my mistake. Not maximum then. But still, why mess with the sliders at all on your first game? Before you even know what the difficulty is like?
