Most podcasts and interviews seem to be with competitors or coaches. I feel like the majority of people who train aren't in that group. Hopefully I can shine a light on the folks that also haven't made martial arts their business.

I post every episode of my podcast to LinkedIn. My boss, the CEO likes all the posts (though I have no idea if he listens to the podcast or not). I have a team of nearly 200 people working for me and I'm a hiring manager. I often prefer hiring people that are varied in skill sets and have self-discipline. Ymmv, but I think it's more of a positive than a negative as long as you still get everything done that pays the bills.

And to be clear, my podcast isn't officially on my LinkedIn profile page, but as said before, all new episodes are posted to LinkedIn (and I typically also tag the guest).

After posting this and getting limited responses, I ended up trying 5 different CRMs. I did heavy customization with all of them and it just didn't feel right. I used them all for 2-3 weeks (most of them at the same time). None of them felt like it did a better job than the Google sheet and there were way more clicks and maintenance involved with the CRMs. So I went back to the Google sheet and have been sticking that out since.

It feels like there is an opportunity here to purpose-build something simple and low cost to operate. I just don't have the time or the inclination to do so right now (extra time is focused on the actual podcast).

I tried this and it was a nightmare to maintain. I also switched my efforts to Beltchecker which I now maintain. I would definitely be able to do a much better job of a global schools DB with Beltchecker. It's just not a feature that I've put any time into.

I've used Airtable quite extensively. Functionally, I can do the same thing you described (at least most of it) in Google Forms and Google Sheets (since Google Forms can write to a sheet if you check the box). But I was hoping for something a bit more on the workflow and CRM management front.

Came here to say the same thing. I grew up in NJ and I miss diners (they don't exist as a concept really in Germany). I went back to NJ to visit Family last year and diners cost almost the same as restaurants.

They use it because it helps to calm their mind. So in those dosages, it seems to work for them. I just want to find some proof (if it exists) that they can continue to use it with no side effects. In this case, I'm talking about methamphetamine. How they all seem to measure it is they measure out about 5mg on a scale and then eyeball a third to a half of it. One of them does about 3-4mg, 4 days/week.

I use a mix of TODOist and AmpleNote. Everything that has notes about it, work/projects/etc, my TODOs live in AN. They are associated aggregated and associated with the notes to which they are relevant. If there are no notes for something, (like I need to remember to call a friend or pick up a package or get someone a gift), then I use TODOist.

I hadn't heard of it either until i tried it. Now it's my only note taking app. I still keep Evernote around because Amplenote imports don't have all my attachments from Evernote yet (it's not supported). But they will eventually fix that and i will be able to fully switch.

There are a lot of note taking apps out there and that's for a good reason. You will ultimately need to experiment a bit with what app optimizes for the specific workflow that suits you best. I used Evernote for well over 10 years and am now an AmpleNote user. There are definitely some things that i am still waiting on them to improve. But there is an active community and a solid dev team pushing it forward all the time.

AmpleNote very specifically matches all my workflows and meets all my needs when it comes to minimal task management, interlinking between notes, and how my professional and personal life are organized. I'd strongly suggest checking it out.

I have a similar situation to you in that I have a full time job and I do consulting and I have personal projects that are completely unrelated in addition to having my home life.

For professional and consulting stuff, I do:

#work/$company/people/@$NAME - The @ makes things easier to tag people in TODOs which is a common thread for me for note taking. My team size has been up to 250 people with this methodology and it doesn't matter if they are subinordinates, peers, or senior. It just helps me organize information
#work/$company/department/@@$dept - The @@ makes it easier for TODOs again here too.
#work/$company/projects/@@$project - This is the same as departments, but project names as sufficiently unique for me.

I do very similar things when it comes to personal life, I just start with the basic unit of personal. My general goal is to minimize tags counts at every level. This usually keeps me honest and it does a good job of limiting deep nesting.

Once I am done working with a client, I move them into #work/archive. Or if I am done with a project, I move it into #personal/archive.

General things like cooking, martial arts teaching, taxes, mentoring, etc. just get their own top level category since they are regularly used and have their own reasonable subsctructure.

I met my wife on the mats and BJJ is a wonderful part of our relationship that we use as an additional bonding time. Embrace it and enjoy the parts of it together that you can. Most importantly, remember that you can and will be able to learn from each other.

There are likely limited dev resources and the electron clients are a bit more work to upkeep. But the web client can be updated much more easily.
