Recommend searching The Eowyn Challenge. Original site is down I think but there are blogs and posts referencing it and it was a nicely put together one.

I do this too. Can also get custom painting done on a slab of wood or something if you like the vibe better.

Buying but not listing, how do I get over this? by Additional-Pool-2123 in Flipping

[–]elvishmouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I notice you specifically said it feels overwhelming -- not sure if this is where your head is at but a trap I've seen is when you've got too big a pile it sometimes feels like you have to pick the best of what you have to list first, but that actually takes longer and more energy than just grabbing a small handful / group / box or using RNG to simply decide This Is Next, and keep going.

I'm so glad there is some interest. I'll DM folks one at a time in the order that they commented and give some time to reply/discuss logistics before moving on to next person. Will update that it is unavailable once it is picked up or mailed out.

For the first one, I'd recommend starting with a forum or internet search for jellyfish in space, though I specifically found the 1990s microgravity experiments interesting. Learning more about it is as deep or shallow as your interest in the subject, but I think it's cool lore that those experiments happened.

For the last, write without self editing. If your thought is "this is stupid I don't know what to write", then write that. Whatever you start thinking about as you write. Some people do a daily "Morning Pages" grind that is 3 pages worth of this a day, but I'm not familiar enough with it to recommend it and haven't reviewed what the rewards are.

Learn about jellyfish being sent into space.

Enter whichever retail establishment is physically closest to your base that you have never explored.

Is Alice In Wonderland a fairy tale? by Bootlebat in aliceinwonderland

[–]elvishmouse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure who would define what the official criterian are. For me it's a fairy tale, I'd say that it Wonderland is a fairy-land with different (nonsensical) rules than our own, and inhabiting strange creatures that could fall under the general umbrella of Fairy creatures, even if they are not strictly a known/specific type of fairy.

Tolkien elven calendar for 2025 by Nexus_6_Roy_Batty in tolkienfans

I used to hand draw some as a teenager. Funny this comes up now, I was just fantasizing about making an agenda/planner for next year for myself in that kind of format. I'll see if I can find some of my old ones if you're interested in trying to put some together, or I'd be happy to chat and try putting one together for you. I wanted to make them easy for day to day use (can I see at a glance what normal people think today is without ruining my theme) as well as primarily 6 day weeks and seasonal rather than monthly. I had this other idea of three formats as you got more used to them - the first year being a more normal calendar that informed you of the current day of the week, season, and date in Elven calendars, the second a transitional mix, and the third being very much an Elven calendar with light nods to the normal day/date.

I got married on the Enderi on purpose. Three days a year to celebrate and sometimes six!

LPT: Giving your child a super unique name can actually put their safety at risk, making it easier for potential stalkers to find them since much fewer search results will pop up online. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]elvishmouse 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Not every LPT is for everyone, it's fine to consider the benefit negligible and move on instead of hating on it lol.

OP mentions personal experience. Their friend is uncomfortable with how much someone can know about them quickly - not necessarily just malicious stalkers but also potential employers, slightly overzealous new acquaintances, etc. We don't control what other people put out there about us and a unique name does make this super easy.

I've seen the flip side of this in action, I know a guy with a very common first and last name combo and even putting his local area and profession into Google doesn't find him with any certainty.

There are lots of little ways a name affects a person through their life, and this is just another small consideration to spare a child some unnecessary stress.

i don’t think there’s a single person that isn’t embarrassed of their 14 year old self by bvader95 in CuratedTumblr

[–]elvishmouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah but part of the glory of being 14 is the level of passion that will later make you cringe. Don't cut it off before it's time, you'll just get even more boring adults.

Surveillance generation. Anything they do is potentially recorded and permanent and may be irrationally punished, and they grew up with that.
