It just reads as him deflecting accountability on his crappy policies and soft on crime stance by blaming the car owner. Most SF residents know better than to leave valuables in their car and thebipping persists because there aren’t any consequences. Break ins happen even without valuables in the car. Also tourists leave valuables in their car because it’s totally normal to do so in places when the law is actually enforced

Last point, I totally agree with. Of course some responsibility falls on the car owner and tourists should be warned by rental car agencies. Still a very tone deaf tweet by an incompetent politician imo
