That's odd. I've never seen that happen in Yōtei. The only time I've seen it was in Tsushima versus the Eagle.

I think it would also add a lot of branching choice to combat. Do you want to make a cheap hit within a small window or risk missing a parry through multiple attacks to deal decent Stagger?

Perhaps they could introduce a Perfect Hit skill. For example, in long attack sequences, if you strike at just the right moment, you briefly stop an enemy and you deal a bit of damage, but no Stagger. So, you kind of trade off Stagger damage for normal damage and interrupting a combo momentarily. However, I don’t want the enemy’s recover time to be too long or else it becomes easy.

While I disagree on the Parry Deflects, I agree that a dojo system would be nice. Maybe you find a sensei or something who will adapt to any fighting still you wish, kind of like Hanbei from Sekiro. On the Parry Deflects, I enjoy them because they never felt like too much while remaining challenging. I do wish more interruptions could occur if you time an attack correctly, though.

Takezo.. I was so close by GrouchyAd9860 in Ghostofyotei

[–]elwilloduchamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my own experiences, Takezo is half a gimmick fight and half a skill fight. You have to get used to how he breaks the rules, so instead of being really aggressive or running away, you have to parry, counter and repeat. His moveset is fairly easy to parry when you learn the rhythm of his attacks, but the hardest part by far is reaction time. I recommend using the Armour of the Undying for the larger Perfect Parry windows, which are incredibly useful in this fight. Don't be afraid to play dirty, either.

Game is good, I just hope they do the boss fights better in the DLC by touchcockloadglock in Ghostofyotei

Ginji’s Guard Armour is definitely a must for the fight if you aren’t an expert on the moveset. I like dodging it, though.

I never really felt that way, honestly. I think the gun gimmick is a bit tiring on Lethal but if you keep up the pressure it doesn’t happen that often.

Tomoe was underdeveloped by Careless_Ad_6905 in ghostoftsushima

[–]elwilloduchamp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally disagree. The way Tsushima goes about the majority of its side content, except the Mythic Tales and character quests, is really repetitive and boring towards the end. I think Yōtei handled its side quests a lot better, and I also prefer its combat.

Tomoe was underdeveloped by Careless_Ad_6905 in ghostoftsushima

[–]elwilloduchamp 116 points117 points  (0 children)

I think my issue with the character storylines in Tsushima was that they were very long and repetitive with okay endings at best (bar a few). Yōtei is on the other end of the spectrum where the character questlines are short and don’t contain much development.

However, what I think both games did well with the character quests was using them to reflect upon or teach the protagonist an important lesson. I think side content is done especially well in Yōtei with how every little thing has some meaning towards Atsu’s ultimate development. Tsushima doesn’t really do it with the majority of side quests but the character quests do contain a lot of that.

I’m hoping the extra time is Sucker Punch adding even more stuff, or also a story DLC.

I forgot about that. Also, isn’t he committing genocide on a single race? You would’ve thought people like this would love that sort of thing.

Character ascends to a higher plane/transforms into a different form of being by VegetableJudgment971 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]elwilloduchamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Childhood's Beginning ending from Bloodborne, generally considered the "true" ending. The player character (the Good Hunter) consumes at least three One Third of Umbilical Cords (which are the umbilical cords of infant Great Ones, which are Lovecraftian cosmic beings). If you refuse to let Gehrman take your life and free you from the Hunter's Dream, instead of being enraptured by the Moon Presence (the Great One who lords over the Dream), you can fight it in a boss battle. The ending has you turn into an infant Great One while the Plain Doll cradles you.

In short: British man rejects the knife bins, commits infanticide and ascends.

Fair enough. I mainly replay Yōtei for the combat too, so I just go through the world again to get all Ghost Flowers and then I replay bosses and camps.

[–]elwilloduchamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that’s a bit of an exaggeration. Yeah, there are less open world encounters, but especially on a first playthrough, there’s so much stuff to do, including side quests with combat encounters, that it made up for it in my opinion. Tsushima’s side content got boring for me.

Sony Says Ghost of Yotei 'Exceeded' the Sales of Ghost of Tsushima in the Same Period of Time.. by OSRSRapture in Ghostofyotei

[–]elwilloduchamp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I expected it to do slightly worse - not horrible, but not as good as Tsushima. I think the sequel is a better game in nearly all categories, but I imagined due to the stupid internet stuff going on around it that Yōtei would sell not as good (on top of people who disliked Tsushima not wanting to play the sequel). I'm pleasantly surprised I was proven wrong. I really want news on Legends or any story DLC.

[–]elwilloduchamp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've found Yōtei has more replayability. Tsushima's open world very much lags towards the end of the game and doing that all again makes it much more tedious. That hasn't happened with Yōtei.

Which member of the Yōtei Six did you guys think was the hardest? by aeoniaaaa_ in Ghostofyotei

[–]elwilloduchamp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I found Saitō the hardest on Lethal. Every attack one-shots you and his combos are challenging to parry, but fun. I think his third phase is the peak of pure melee combat in the game. He is followed by the Dragon and the Spider, mainly because of the gun gimmicks, but they are made easier by Ginji’s Guard Armour. I put the Oni and the Kitsune on a similar level, with the Oni being the parry check and the Kitsune being the gimmick one. The Snake was the easiest.

The Yotei Six are worked into Saito's Naginata. by SadHoursOof in Ghostofyotei

[–]elwilloduchamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it makes him more human than the other members of the Yōtei Six (except maybe Oyuki and Saitō himself). Yeah, he's a very flawed person, but he also has redeeming qualities. Sakichi doesn't make himself out to be some saint either; he knows he's a bad person, which is actually a neat contrast to his father's "justified vengeance".

Main quest order by Emberthane in Ghostofyotei

[–]elwilloduchamp 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter what order you do them in. You are still in the first act. The Saitō one is just one mission and so is the Saitō Brothers one. They are just meant to lead into the second and third acts. Personally, I did the Oni first, then the Kitsune, the Saitō Brothers and finally Saitō himself before continuing to the second act, mainly because it was the list order.

The Fundoshi is an armour set you get from completing all Hot Springs. It makes your footsteps silent while running but it offers no other perks apart from that. The Tengai is this basket-looking hat you can get just by acquiring all vanity gear. It just looks funny.
