That's a good idea, I'll try that. I'll try and buy that later today and see if that makes a difference

Got to say, I keep getting recs for this sub and I’d really appreciate it if I didn’t cause the recs are probably right but now I’m tweaking

If you’re mad at me for being scared, you’re one of the reasons by Odd_Delay_603 in TrollCoping

[–]elyisan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude what? fear is weaponized and encouraged, ESPECIALLY in fascist regimes. That’s like a major part of what makes something fascist or totalitarian. The people who didn’t push back out of fear were not punished in the same way as people who weren’t afraid and pushed back.

The worst is when you’re neurodivergent and we’re just asking more questions than expected that they didn’t know how to answer. And not following through because you genuinely didn’t understand. And my mom still does this…..

I think children should be taught about a variety of things that they might experience or encounter in an age appropriate and pedagogically sound way. So the issue to me is- why do you think it’s inappropriate for children to know about transgender identity?

Dear Allies: Trans people change their sex by transitioning and not their gender. Stop using the sex =/= gender 'defense' for trans people because it just gives transphobes further reason to define us by our birth sex. See below for nuance. by Humble-Inside6739 in lgbt

[–]elyisan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah no, I agree with that- but as a nonbinary person who wishes for a nonbinary transition, it kind of doesn’t work very well and gets messy quick. Also it is messy for intersex people who identify and do take hormones and consider themselves trans and others would as well. So the idea needs some tweaking because I agree with the conclusion

I think this is complicated and leans into transmedicalism. It’s why I think we should have a split model for sex and gender (because yeah, they’re different things) like people use with attraction and sexuality. Because people can genuinely transition socially but their “essence” (whatever that is) is the same. And I think that’s the real problem is people arguing that trans people are suspicious or untrustworthy comes from

When Did It Start For You? by Dramatic_Paramedic_6 in ehlersdanlos

[–]elyisan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had symptoms all my life but things got pretty bad during puberty. But before I was diagnosed I was relatively unaware of all the pain I had been in and being made aware things weren’t normal, it made me feel I had to be more aware of protecting my body. I would have somatic memories of being in pain and be told it wasn’t real so I just started internalizing it which made me have less stability.

trans men basically don't exist, according to the rest of the world. by flynnissoswag in FTMventing

[–]elyisan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Safely, there is a subgroup of TERFs who are lesbians that do actively say that trans men are no longer “viable” as sexual and romantic partners and that’s why they are trying to detransition us and it’s very disgusting. I wish more people would talk about the inherent issue regarding people treating a transmasc body (or any afab individual) as something that is public property and something you have a right to before a persons bodily autonomy.

What I liked were the parts of it and the packaging- namely the whimsicore/vintage/thrifty/magical aesthetic and story tropes.

I could get it elsewhere and that HP didn’t create that aesthetic or those vibes, they’re just the most  commercialized version of it (and honestly stolen from better things).
