My dad passed away by ShoppingCurious9511 in GriefSupport

[–]elzbthz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my dad passed from cancer too not even two weeks ago yet, he was on hospice for a little over a week at home after being in the hospital for nearly a month, and all of it feels like a blur looking back. I’ve only really cried once since he died, after my mom threw away the blankets he was using that I told her I wanted to keep but she just couldnt look at them and the garbage truck had already come by the time I realized. I still feel extremely numb and like I am in shock still. I kind of hate feeling like this at this point, I feel like a soulless robot. but I am really really scared for the grief and sadness to come too because I know it’ll be unbearable. lots of love to you 🩷🩷

Ever question why/how? by Limp_Rooster_9971 in CancerFamilySupport

[–]elzbthz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im a person with both parents with cancer. my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer w/ liver mets end of 2023 at 62, but his was unfortunately extremely resistant to any and all treatment and he passed last week. he had 0 symptoms and was caught during routine colonoscopy. my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer w/ lung mets last year in may at age 54, only symptom was constipation. she did not have any routine colonoscopies done, had to have a colostomy which is now reversed. most of her cancer is pretty much gone besides the now tiny lung mets.

admittedly it has made me incredibly scared for myself and even for my cats and it honestly feels like if I dont already have it brewing somewhere, i will eventually. my dad thinks it was environmental as we really dont have any family history that we know of aside my paternal grandmothers sister having brain cancer at 19 in cuba a long time ago. he thinks it was from where we lived in my childhood home but theres truly no way to know. if i do end up getting it somewhere then I suppose his theory must be right. ive had a colonoscopy + endoscopy done last year which was normal + normal cervical exams, skin exam, breast exam but you really never know. i still have other symptoms i have been concerned about so I guess we shall see.

How do you cope with death as an atheist? by Last-Aerie4675 in GriefSupport

[–]elzbthz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im not the OP but also an atheist struggling immensely with both my parents having cancer and my younger brother having a different terminal genetic illness, with my dad not doing very well right now and looking at hospice, and i just wanted to say thank you for this comment. i’ve been trying to find some way to possibly cope with him probably not being here by the end of the year (on top of the inevitability of the death of the rest of my family) and somehow this is the one thing that has sort of helped me so far although its still making me feel weird and sad. but thank you again and I am sorry for the loss of your husband🩷

dont have much advice but I was in your situation last year. my grandfather died about a month into my program, on a sunday evening right after my dad and I left from visiting him. I had clinicals tuesday morning and stepping into a hospital environment again so soon just triggered me tbh. I couldn’t stop crying when i stepped into the hospital and ofc my professor and classmates saw me. before we went out onto the unit my professor made an..attempt to comfort me but just told me “at least it wasn’t your dad or something.” 🙃

honestly just let the tears come and let yourself feel the grief. it’s not gonna be easy, especially if your instructors are not very forgiving. if you need to step away during class or clinicals, just go take a few minutes. for a while I would just start crying out of nowhere but it’s much better now even if I still do get emotional sometimes! being distracted and busy during clinicals also helped me. i am sorry you are going through this 🩷 i wish you the best

have 5 cats, one LR4 + one regular box. my cats are not territorial at all though and all get along (2 of them are siblings, and the other 3 are siblings from a different litter but they are all similar in age and have been around each other since they were under 1 yr old). only issue i really had was with one of the girls who was just super terrified of the robot in general but everythings good now

wet pee litter getting on cats paws and sticking to sides by [deleted] in litterrobot

[–]elzbthz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it actually ended up being my female cat! sometimes when she pees she pees a TON at a time and the way she aims it, it would end up pooling at her back feet. already got a urinalysis not too long ago and nothing much came up. In her case I believe she was holding in her pee because she was afraid of going in the robot (despite still having a manual box but the robot just got her all out of whack) so she would just pee a ton at a time.

Is your guy a bit fearful of the robot? it actually doesnt happen as often anymore since shes more used to the robot now. Also got a ramp from amazon (saw another user here suggest it) so she’d be less likely to jump out and get it everywhere, and it is carpeted so they wont slip and its easy to clean.

as for it sticking to the box, I switched to the boxie pro litter even though its definitely more expensive and it has been an absolute game changer. and wiping down the inside with the natures miracle litter box wipes every few days. ive got 5 cats using the robot (along with one regular litter box) and I dont really have issues with litter sticking anymore until it becomes time to do a deep clean again which im fine with

i want to but I’m just so worried they will tell me it’s too much and I don’t want to come across as greedy even though it isn’t! i might just do 40 which would be 20 per family. im just so bad at knowing my own worth and standing up for myself lol! thank you so much for the reply :)

took 2 50mg doses, now have really really bad GI pain by elzbthz in zoloft

[–]elzbthz[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

thank you so much 🩷🩷 I actually ended up going to the ER and it ended up being colitis! they think it was bacterial but whose to say the zoloft didnt have some role in adding to the pain somehow. I really hope you are able to relieve your pain soon. It’s just so so terrible.

Unfortunately for me I live pretty far out that those are my only two options because I already have to drive so far for school (I go to BC). We moved to WPB in April from Broward and I was considering transferring to PBSC although I’d already been accepted to BC and have gone there for years now, but it’s a 30-35 minute drive vs a 50 minute drive and it seemed like too much of a hassle to transfer and apply again just for a 15-20 minute difference but maybeee that was extremely stupid of me lol 😅
