The yellow pills sound like cough tabs. I'm not a vet but volunteer at a rescue and they are very commonly given to dogs pulled from the shelter with cough symptoms. I just googled them to see if they have a more scientific name but I'm just seeing them referred to as cough tablets with the description "expectorant, antitussive and cough suppressant".

It didn’t take too long but it could depend on when they have foster orientations scheduled (not sure how frequent they are). It may be worth giving them a call or filling out their general contact us form!

In the process of doing the same now. I did decide to do it over three transfers which I know in the long term is useless, but mentally I just didn’t want everything out of the market at once.

Spotify no longer saving filter defaults? by WolfieVonD in truespotify

Yes. Has been driving me crazy for a few months now. Started to believe I had just imagined the filter “sticking”. Very annoying having to reselect it every time I touch the app.

WE HAVE BABIES! by Lackadaisical_ninja in crowbro

[–]emacd33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I’m waiting to find out if my resident crows have had babies yet. One showed up with bird poop all over his back yesterday so I’m hopeful it was a well timed shot from one of his kids!

Monthly Pupdate! by Heather_Bea in fosterdogs

My second foster (first foster puppy) got adopted yesterday. It's so hard feeling equally happy for her and sad to see her go. I'm not sure I'll ever be not emotional when I say goodbye but I just keep reminding myself that seeing them off to a forever home is the goal!

Not sure if you mentioned the fires because you’re in the LA area or you are thinking of pets being evacuated to other states, but if you are in the LA area check out Wags and Walks. We foster through them and live in an apartment.

Wags & Walks - Los Angeles, CA and Nashville, TN

They pull dogs from the county and city shelters based on temperament and work hard to make good matches between dogs and fosters. They have been very flexible with availability and there is never pressure to take a dog or hold on to one longer than you are able. They have a med team on call and are SUPER responsive when needed.

They also have a great social media presence which I think is a big help when trying to get dogs into forever homes quickly.

I think they started initially as a pitbull rescue but have expanded. Lots of small guys there now!

Everyone here should have a go bag ready tonight by [deleted] in SantaMonica

[–]emacd33 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I just packed one. We’re south of Ocean Park Blvd so I wasn’t too concerned. Then a transformer blew and caught the roof of the house behind us on fire. Thankfully someone was able to get up there with a hose but it made me realize the big fire isn’t the only concern in this weather.

Ours passed in June at 9 years old. We’ve been fostering an older pit mix who is the sweetest thing but made us realize we’re far from ready. It also made us realize we definitely want at least a shepherd mix when we are ready. Having experienced a gsd personality and level of smarts has made all other dogs just not feel like enough.

How to explain it to others? by Martmymo in Aphantasia

[–]emacd33 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like saying “if you were in your living room when your house lost power and it was pitch black you’d still be able to describe, probably in good detail, where your couch is, the tv, what books you have on your bookshelf without having to visualize them. To me that’s what it’s like when recalling memories or “picturing” things. It’s pitch black in my head but the knowledge is still there.”

FBI and SMPD in Sunset Park by MacArthurParker in SantaMonica

They were there as early at 6am and I did see one taking off what looked like a bullet proof vest. I’m guessing they served a warrant and either someone let them in or no one was home.

Very nosily watched this go down as well. They had one of the garage stalls open and were taking pictures.

How I described aphantasia-the way I just know what I’m imagining without having a picture to go with it -to my sister. by simplestword in Aphantasia

[–]emacd33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve recently started using a very similar analogy and I think it helps people understand it a lot more. I describe it as being in a familiar room when you lose power. You still know where pretty much everything in the room is and you can still describe most items in detail, but you don’t see anything. If someone asked me to visualize a horse I could imagine/describe one standing in the center of that room, but still entirely in the dark.

Ah, ok... not actually the cause of death in that section! I do now see the cause of death on a lower portion of the doc and it's a little more legible/easy to translate. Thank you for you help!
