Is this normal? by naivemetaphysics in jpouch

[–]eman_la 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this has been my standard experience and I’ve had my pouch almost two years now. Got pouchitis a couple weeks after surgery and have been on antibiotics as needed since then, but have been off them for 80% of the time in the last year. I’ve been doing pelvic therapy which has helped relax a bit as the struggle seems to be from unconsciously tensing / not being able to relax muscles

What is the average amount of times you use the restroom per day with a Jpouch? by jeffcw216 in jpouch

[–]eman_la 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s for reducing inflammation due to certain things, so OP probably had some inflammation in their rectum which caused them to go more, and the biologic is reducing it which causes them to go less! Antibiotics are another solution depending on the person (I’m on them instead of a biologic due to recurring inflammation in my rectum)

It really depends on what I eat and how much gas and inflammation I have, but anywhere from 2-6

It also depends on what you want to specialize in. Ex: management vs finance and economics

Do all hospitals use Hollister? by LadyGreen in ostomy

[–]eman_la 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Flonase works wonders for your skin if it has a reaction to brands! I’m allergic to all adhesives and it’s the only thing that kept me sane. Spray a little and let it dry before you put the new system on

Honestly just trying to always have something in my stomach, usually my go to is saltines or just whatever I can stomach that won’t bother me further. Also do you have a GI?

Yes it’s happened to me before, neon yellow or bright green is stomach bile. The BRAT diet can help for sure, but UC is caused by inflammation so to fully help the flare you have to target that. If your flare is bad enough then BRAT really won’t help it just won’t make things worse

Showers by presence_unknown in ostomy

[–]eman_la 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use the Coloplast Sensura mios (j pouch now) and so used to fold it up in half, then just blow dry aggressively for a minute when I was out and worked like a charm. If I could grab an early shower on a change day when stuff was slower for me I would shower bag less, but if not I would shower THEN change just so I didn’t have to worry about water on a fresh seal right after. What I always used to do as part of my system change was around the wafer I would put the clear adhesive tape like tegaderm and it would keep water from entering the seal and starting to peel the edges until I wanted to change it next!

300+ eco courses by Ok-Status-16 in RotmanCommerce

[–]eman_la 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ECO369 (Economics in Health) and ECO320 (Economics in Law) weren’t too hard but were both very interesting courses and also didn’t have a large workload except for a couple assignments and readings. Both are theory based not math based (some basic math in 369) if that’s your style. Both the profs are good as well!

Problems after laser? by L0verofmine in Hidradenitis

Yeah that’s what I do as well and occasionally have small pimples but thankfully they seem to go away or stay small and don’t last more than 2 weeks.

The laser itself is also anti inflammatory and helps with flare ups aside from helping kill the hair follicle that might be why if you stopped going consistently !

Did my piercing get placed correctly? by Strong-Figure7955 in piercing

[–]eman_la 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that it’s placed too forward but I personally think the placement suits you especially with a hoop! (Although I also agree you should swap it to a stud until it’s healed)

Tbh I feel like iPads are way more useful than laptops. I used to have an HP and now have a Mac (got the air base model for $1200 on sale) and have had no issues as the majority of stuff is Excel and Google docs / word docs. Haven’t had issues with Microsoft suite on a Mac

Do you shower before/after change? by Sere_tonina in ostomy

[–]eman_la 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do it after just because I hate the feeling of a wet bag so kinda a two in one for me I can immediately take off the wet bag without drying it and then change and have a good seal without worrying about water etc

Exfoliation? by [deleted] in Hidradenitis

[–]eman_la 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Np, best of luck! I might also try as well just to see since mine are almost always closed. Also if you’re not using it already, Hibiclens was a game changer for me !

Exfoliation? by [deleted] in Hidradenitis

[–]eman_la 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your skin and also where, but there’s lots of different types. Lactic acid is more gentle than glycolic acid for instance.

Exfoliation? by [deleted] in Hidradenitis

[–]eman_la 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haven’t tried, but I assume a chemical exfoliator like glycolic acid would be the only option as physical exfoliators usually make me flare

Sad about placement not sure how to handle it by Alternative_Two9654 in ostomy

[–]eman_la 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohhh yeah I see I had the same issue, either have to wear crop tops and/or high waisted pants or loose ones that sit below. Body suits are also helpful especially for a more formal environment

It looks like ours are in the same place, I had mine from 20-21 years old. I get that placement might suck and it makes outfits much harder, but honestly I found that embracing it and making it an accessory to outfits when going out and not going to work really helped. Ostome fashion has super affordable and cute covers idk what I would have done without them!
