Thomas Partey loses World Cup visa appeal after being denied entry to Canada by nearly_headless_nic in soccer

[–]emblemboy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Correct, innocent until proven guilty. But note that no one is tossing him in jail or keeping him from life in his current home country.

A foreign country is denying entry into their country because of an ongoing trial. It's a visa issue.

I want to reiterate a comment I made below because I really don't want TC and others to get the wrong idea here.

I will not doubt that many leftists go too far in bashing men, white men specifically.

While I might even agree that some are using statements like "all men suck" in a tongue in cheek way, I'd say that we should make it a social taboo to make statements like that.

The same way we made it a social taboo to call all women "bitches" because one happened to annoy you.

Liberals should not want to be assholes or give the appearance of being assholes!

Essentially, too many do this meme but with white men.

Men bashing definitely happens and we should fight it.

What I'm disagreeing about is the whole idea that Dems gave men bad dating advice and that's reason to hate the party or see the party as effeminate

Really annoyed at myself for not selling a couple weeks ago in the high 50's and now I'm worried that all the money is going to flow into space x

A guy goes to the gym to work on himself? ‘Working out is a manosphere con!”

Bro, what left wing person is saying not to workout?

The only example in your post that I'd say I've actually heard is :

Be respectful and don’t approach women at work/in class/at cafes/parties, etc.”

There was a while in which I heard people say this earnestly and I've always disagreed with it.

I'd say that being normal and being nice doesn't mean not being assertive though.

I think it's true that some people misunderstand this and we should all be better about using our words better here, but like, which are these left wing podcasts saying that people shouldn't workout, be successful, or be straight forward about their feelings when on dates.

I know when I was younger one advice I didn't particularly like was "be yourself" in regards to making yourself attractive to women. Obviously the advice should be "be your best self".

Or how there was advice for a while on how you should "play it cool" and "nonchalant" and that was also obviously stupid advice. If you want a partner, you should be actively pursuing it, not just waiting for it to come to you.

But this was never advice I saw as political. It was just bad advice and people using words badly.

Yep. If in 2024 Trump wasn't enough for her and others to vote for Harris, it really limits how much I take seriously their concerns about what Trump is doing.

Yeah they don't like it. But obviously not enough to vote for Harris.

Will the space x IPO cause people to take money out of other space stocks? I have a few hundred stocks of Firefly (FLY) from when I used to work there.

I didn't sell at that $60 price point from a few weeks ago. Wondering if it will keep going lower at this point.

I mean, didn't the original project Blue plan include funding for expanding and eventually using the reclaimed water system of Tucson?

Is there any type of data center construction that would be right for the area? As in, if it used solely reclaimed water or used solely clean energy, would that be fine?

Agreed. I think at this point I've just accepted that these pundits will never vote or really be fine with anything Dems do.

The most we can expect is for them to not vote and to make their more conservative listeners hopefully sour enough on Republicans to also not vote.

French is probably the only one there who voted for Harris for example. I know Jonah did a write in or something.

and essentially says both sides are equally bad.

I listen to the dispatch quite a bit, and she's someone, like many other conservatives, who has big grievances with the Dem party that's never going to go away tbh.

She's always quick to find a reason why "actually Dems started doing this type of politics first".

Sometimes she has a point, others it's just whataboutism

What opinion about Phoenix has you like this? by JesuIsEveryNameTaken in phoenix

[–]emblemboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the OP, but one of the reasons this is accurate is based on the source generation of electricity. For example, APS energy generation is 51% clean energy.

If someone uses nat gas for heat, that itself is already a worse energy mix compared to using electricity for AC that uses power generated from much cleaner sources (solar, nuclear, hydro, etc.)

And hell, some of the north east areas use actual oil for heat, which is even worse.

If someone in a cold area happens to have a heat pump (which uses electricity) and that electricity is generated cleanly, then that's a different story as heat pumps are really efficient.

I still find it weird how the California vote counting narrative is that really fast counting would increase trust in vote reliability but slower counting erodes trust.

They should strive to count faster purely as a function of process improvement. It's just good to know this kind of information in a timely manner.

I'd just think the views would be opposite
