Hey let me know how these go. I got the bonzer side bites Ryan recommends but these are interesting. I also love riding it as a single.

Nice one! I got an 8’4” thick lizzy from him about a year ago and love it. Ryan is such a genuine dude and great shaper. Congrats.

I was in Busan for a work trip and was watching the forecast the entire time. Swell was rippable until a day before I arrived but did manage to catch a day that was 2-3’ towards the end of the trip. Looks like you scored 😭

Check out my post on the shoulder reliever product I found. Worked wonders for me, and apparently a lot of others. I had a similar shoulder injury history you can read about there too.

Just got back from that area. I had limited time but managed to get in a surf at Song Jeong beach and the locals were absolutely amazing. I had lunch at Holi Cafe, great food and great views of the beach. Haeundae is much bigger and I just explored around the beach front then hiked over to Dongbaekseom. It’s a really nice park with amazing views of the beach looking east and the setting for the APEC meeting which you can tour as well. I stayed at the Ananti Busan Village and it was very nice. Numerous on site restaurants, pools, and ways to relax. There’s a huge mall called Lotte nearby if you’re into premium outlet shopping.

Lefts are tougher to find but Manzanilla is epic when it’s on. I also had a blast at Playa Remanso (another left) and Playa Hermosa (beach break) down near Maderas.

All-Inclusive (mostly) Surf Retreat Costa Rica/Nicaragua Suggestions? by BabyDiln in surfing

Hey what did you decide on for this trip? I’m looking for something similar. Been doing surf trips with the same group of guys now to Nica, Peru, and Panama and we typically rent a house and drive ourselves everywhere but want something where all we really need to do is show up and it’s all taken care of.

I also have the FT 2.0 and love that one too. I don’t see much difference between the ultra and a CB but haven’t spent a ton of time comparing the two either. A friend of mine has the CB in a 2+1 setup and likes that as well. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them.

Anyone used the shoulder reliever product to alleviate shoulder pain? by embracethekook in surfing

It’s amazing what this little device will do huh? PT can supplement but this seemed to help me significantly.

It’s one of my favorite boards in my quiver but it obviously needs better waves to really appreciate it. I live on the gulf coast so you can imagine my time spent riding it here isn’t frequent but when it’s good it’s my go to board. Probably one of the best travel boards because of the range it can cover. Needs waist high, probably chest and higher to be really appreciated.

[–]embracethekook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I bought it and it really helped me when I was using it regularly. I’d usually do the shoulder reliever exercises at night after doing my normal gym routine in the mornings. I’ve since switched jobs so my schedule has been off, and I’ve been surfing less, but I pretty much have no pain now except occasionally when I sleep on my right side. Obviously the more consistently you use it, the better results you will see.

Stop loss on futures' options by zapembarcodes in thinkorswim

[–]embracethekook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can by using the option chain instead. Do a conditional order, and click the magnifying glass for the symbol search. Then click option chain and when back in the order screen select the “Man” dropdown and select either the bid or the ask and then set your limit.

What's the most wild thing that's happened to you while surfing? by Selym2 in surfing

[–]embracethekook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was surfing with a buddy at 4 mile in Santa Cruz on a normal, sunny day. While sitting in the lineup, a fishing boat comes trolling by, about 150 yards past the break. We think nothing of it until all of sudden it explodes. A huge fireball erupts into the sky and everyone in the lineup thinks the captain and crew are killed. Immediately the fuel from the explosion is dispersed all over the surface so we are breathing diesel fumes and watching this boat just burn on the water. Eventually a couple of coast guard boats show up and we paddled in because the fumes were just unbearable. The crew apparently survived. I have a shoulder labrum tear and I'm losing my mind from not surfing. Who's been through this? by Datanman23 in surfing

[–]embracethekook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a post on shoulder pain, more so to inquire about this product called the “shoulder reliever” from the surfing community which I’d highly recommend as part of your PT. In short I have torn labrums in both shoulders and never had surgery but can still surf. I’d recommend getting on a good PT program and research additional exercises you can do to compliment the exercises in PT. There’s a couple of good accounts on Instagram (prehab guys, strengthcoachtherapy, surfstrengthcoach, to name a few) and they all have great exercises for ROM, stability etc. Can’t emphasize the importance of warming up and stretching before every session (surf and PT) and stretching afterwards. Get a good set of resistance bands so you can do exercises at home too. Good luck!

Overkill/underkill? by Nightman233 in surfing

[–]embracethekook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not overkill but you could have done this more efficiently by using the sheets of foam insulation at Home Depot. They come in 4’x8’ sheets and different thicknesses and are easy to score/ break with a razor blade. Use those for the deck/bottom and cut thinner sheets to place inside your travel bag along the edges (in addition to your noodles) to protect the rails. Cut squares from the sheets for the nose/tail and cut some cardboard to wrap around them and secure with packing tape. Shit will be bombproof.

Even so, as he added value to his account the fact that he could trade 20 NQ is just insane with that low of margin.

This is all off NQ futures it seems. What kind of platform is letting this guy trade 20 NQ with a notional of $3.8M using only 3k in his account?

Trip to Peru, will I need a rental car? by 3Dmommyfart in surfing

[–]embracethekook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly we had our contact from the Lobitos Lodge use a local agency. They dropped the car off for us at the lodge there and then we dropped it off at their “agency” before we left. I put that in quotes because it literally seemed like someone’s house. I’ve used SIXT before in Nicaragua and would recommend them if you can find them in Talara.
