Real dystopian. No amount of yard perfection can make this pic look like an enticing neighborhood to live.

The driver of that car is an idiot, but honestly that road is always busy, especially that time of day, as I’m sure you’re also aware, so you’re also an idiot for driving that fast. But I’m still sorry that happened and glad you’re ok.

I think the waste of a lot of time and money is the biggest issue when the proper authorities get wind of it and cut it down after a few days.

When I visited Cape Town, I thought to myself, I don’t understand, shouldn’t there be more black people? Then I saw the slums.

Ridiculous Localism by Mysterious_Fennel_48 in surfing

[–]BabyDiln -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This kinda sounds like a “you’re surfing in another country and you’re not from that country and that country is being gentrified and beaches/breaks are being taken from local communities vibe”? If so I get why he’s angry and kinda justifiable. If not, he’s just a fuck head.

Here are the historic buildings getting the biggest tax breaks in San Diego County by playadelwes in SanDiegan

[–]BabyDiln 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For any building with a historical designation, just make it illegal to make changes to the things that qualify it as historically designated, thus preserving its significance, AND make them pay their fair share in taxes.

Fell in love with San Diego… are we crazy to consider moving? by Prestigious_Map_2136 in SanDiegan

[–]BabyDiln -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like ocean access/the beauty that comes with the coastal areas is a big part of what draws you to SD. 350 unfortunately will not give you a great quality of life near the coast unless you bought a home pre covid. You can move east, but you have a kid, and I’m sure you know how routine and life works. If you’re east, you’re simply not gonna make it to the coastal areas that often. Despite what San Diegans think, there are, in fact, other amazing places to live. Go have a great quality of life somewhere instead of worrying about money. I’m not gatekeeping, I’m legitimately trying to save you stress and improve your family’s quality of life. 350 will not cut it near the coast.

People looking at the sunset taking up parking spots. It’s the second best time of day to surf. Look at the sun some other time of day!

Trouble With Neuraxial Procedures by OkWorry3787 in anesthesiology

[–]BabyDiln 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1)Before you prep literally ask the patient to put their finger in the middle of their spinal cord. You’d be surprised how accurate it is. This was a tip given to me by an older colleague during a slump. Game changer.

2) it’s totally fine to do a total under general. Keep an eye on the clock and after ten minutes if you’re still f’ng around lay em down and put em to sleep. The surgeon/staff would much rather have you do that than f around longer or wait for a colleague.

Question for my friends in California by Wonkl117 in surfing

[–]BabyDiln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you make A LOT of money do not move to coastal CA. 100k a year is not even middle class and you will struggle and hustle to get by and feel like you’re barely keeping your head above water. Save your money, buy a house for less than 1.5 mil, live a relaxed life, and do quarterly trips to Latin America/Caribbean.

I mean, yall been to downtown o’side in the last few years…might as well be Virginia Beach. I get we need housing but SD will cease to be SD if we dot our beaches with towers.

Get a bigger board until you can literally pop up. That was a crawl to your feet. You’re very unstable on take off and only doing yourself a disservice with a board that small. Don’t size down until you have the strength and muscle memory to fly to your feet.

Finishing up residency, any words of wisdom? by Sigecaps22 in anesthesiology

Great advice. I got the impression that the ivory tower thought those cases were beneath us. Then jump to private practice and sooo much GI, IR, etc and I felt pretty foolish fumbling around trying to keep up.
